Books and burritos! I had seen Super Torta in the past while driving by and I saw it reviewed on Yelp and bookmarked it. From its longevity and its worn looks from the outside, I knew that good food was to be found here, of which there's another location in S.E. on Woodstock. With the grand opening of the expanded Oregon City Library, I finally decided to eat here by combining seeing the library and getting some Mexican grub. It is about one and half blocks away from the Oregon City Library. Inside, it's not too stellar, either, but this adds to its character. The people working at the counter and cooking the food are friendly and fast. The prices are reasonable across the wide variety of things featured on their menu. I had seen photos of what appeared to be a chimichanga and that's what I was thinking about but, when there, I went with a chicken burrito. When I got it, it was quite rotund, meaning there would be a satisfying amount of food rolled up in this big tortilla. After a few bites, I knew it was authentic and tasty. The ingredients came together beautifully. Not only that, their primary sauce found in the containers is a mild green sauce, so I was able to add that and heighten the flavor of what amounted to a complete meal. I like Super Torta. I like how casual it is. I like how casual the employees are, and how they greet all the customers and call out your order with a vibrant "amigo." Mostly, I like the food a lot and am now wondering how their other options taste. I'm glad I ate here at mid-afternoon. The burrito served as lunch and dinner. And it was refreshing to know that there is a unanimously approved hole-in-the-wall Mexican food joint in the area, especially atop "the hill" in WASPy, Main Street USA-like Oregon City, where there are actually several eateries and coffeehouses worth checking out. There are 4 star places where you give them 4 stars because they deserve them, but they are either too far, too expensive, or somewhat of a novelty that you won't often be repeating. Everyone in OC says its the best mexican lunch spot. It's fine for oregon city (I guess) but don't expect much in terms of authentic robust flavors. At least the servings and prices are reasonable. It's passable as a meal but not something I would write home about. Most mexican places in the PNW fall into this category though for whatever reason. read more

Super Torta is where you go when you just want meat. There isn't any fuss over other ingredients. Everything we tried (burritos, tacos, quesadillas) are all crammed with meat and less so with onions, tomatoes, herbs and the like. The meat is good, it really is. I am a fan of mixed flavors and textures, especially in Mexican food so ST is not quite for me. However, they do basic right. So if you're looking for a solid meat burrito, this place is for you. I personally didn't care for their house hot sauce but it's just my taste, my partner liked it a lot and the heat was good. The tortillas themselves were delicious in my opinion. They were chewy and savory. Yum. Service was incredibly fast. Prices are generally between $6.00 - $8.00. I do recommend trying Super Torta at least once. read more

Finally... I found a decent Mexican food place in Oregon. Thank goodness it didn't take too long; only about two months. Hehehe. Anyway, we ordered a cheese quesadilla, a burrito, and a taco salad. Cheese Quesadilla: Standard - tortilla and cheese. It was good, but it tasted like a cheese quesadilla. You can't really mess this up, right? Burrito: It was my fiancé's order. He liked it. He thought the meat was cooked great, and the salsa they give you was awesome. Taco Salad: This was my order. I like the fresh, crispy tortilla bowl. I like the melted cheese on top of the beans. The only complaint that I have is that the chicken was a bit on the dry side, but other than that, I enjoyed my order. Service: It was good. We got our food in a timely manner after ordering. I don't know if it's because I'm used to Southern California standards or it was a day off for them.... I was really looking forward to my first Mexican food since moving to Oregon. It was the closest best-reviewed Mexican around our house. The building and the people definitely seemed to shout "authentic" Mexican food and I was excited about what might become my new local favorite Mexican food joint. I ordered the carne asada burrito. I consider it a staple Mexican food and it's what I use to compare/grade Mexican restuarants. It was not good. It was actually bad. It had a funny taste to it, can't quite describe it. My wife had one bite and wouldn't finish her carne asada taco. The cheese quesadilla was very plain, without much flavor. The chicken enchiladas were so-so. The salsa and the avocado salsa were not bad. Not sure if we ordered the wrong stuff or it was a bad day for them.... hard to think all the reviewers are so far off, but it was definitely a bad meal for my family and I. Authentic, tasty, extensive menu, quick service. This is a terrific place. The burritos are HUGE, taste great, reasonably priced. The environment is great, it looks like many of the places I have been in south of the border - nothing fancy, but clean, well lit and reasonably comfortable. Everyone had more food than they could eat and brought stuff home for another meal. Everyone loved the food - the burrito, tamale and torta. I've driven by this place for years and this time I finally stopped in. After a brief internal debate I ordered the super burrito and I could hardly be happier for it. The pink-hued interior is clean and very casual with a decor that could be summed up as 'piñatas y cosas' The guys behind the counter were outgoing, helpful and FAST! My super burrito was up before I could even sit at my table. The burrito is yummy although somewhat salty and just because of its size it begins to fall apart if you're not vigilant. I got a Dr. Pepper (I know, lame - shoulda gotta horchata) and the total came to all of $6.40 plus tip to completely stuff myself. I thought it could make 2 meals of the one burrito and I probably should have but I compulsively ate the whole thing. So that should tell you something. Super Torta has gone downhill the last couple of years. This used to be my go-to place for close to 10 years but I've been disappointed every time lately. Although they always have large portions, their food quality isn't great and you get something different every time. Sometimes my burritos are mostly rice and sometimes they're mostly beans. Their chile relleno burrito has so much potential but it's always greasy and they don't use whole peppers. The last one I ordered had a couple of pieces of a pepper and that was it. It's like I had ordered a bean and cheese burrito. I really want to love Super Torta again which is why I keep giving them a chance. Their enchilada sauce and portion size are amazing but everything else is lacking. Hoping they can turn it around in the future. read more

Traditional, fresh and casual. This little Mexican eatery was recommended to us as, "The only Mexican I'll eat in Oregon City." Service was friendly and fast. I ordered the Dinner Plate for $7.25 in pork. This dish had plenty of tasty almost crispy pork, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo and five small soft and hot tortilla. Rice and refried beans filled out the plate. In the middle was their avocado sauce. It all tasted great and my only complaint would be to replace the avocado sauce with sour cream. My wife had the enchilada plate at $7.50 and said it was good flavored, lots of food, and not too spicy. We had their mild green sauce (flavor little heat) and the hot sauce which was a good flavor and not too spicy even for me in moderation. While we ate there were quite a few people in for take-out, it's a popular little place. We look forward to another opportunity to try something else on their menu. This place is really good, I would definitely recommend coming here to anyone. I spent a couple days working near head so I ate here multiple times this week and everything I had was pretty good The carnitas taco was probably my least my favorite it was bad I am just not a fan of the carnitas flavor. Their chicken tacos were great. I was a big of a fan of the carne asada burrito I got, that was my favorite thing tried. Ordered the super burrito here as I have many times in the past when I lived in Oregon City. The people were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered Carne Asada fries for my partner. They didn't have this on their menu but had no problem throwing something together for me. The food is good and priced fairly. There are some tables to sit and eat and although I usually get food to go here. In the warmer months I believe they have tables to sit outside as well. This isn't a fancy place, more of a quick food or grab and go. They have the usual lineup that most grab and go Mexican food restaurants have. I've been here before and will be again. read more

This little shack has some great food, yuge portions, and cheap. The inside is kind of divy but not gross. My main concern was how big the portions were, because they fill their tacos 3 times the amount any other place does. You have to use the second tortilla to make yourself a second taco there's so much filling (see picture). I tried 4 tacos (thinking they were going to be small) for about $2.50 each, and a bite of the torta. They were all good but when you use that much meat for so cheap it worries me that the meat quality might be total crap, like reject/expired meat from who knows where. Sometimes too much is a bad thing, plus as a business move they should cut the amount of meat in half so that people will buy more tacos. There's no need for 4 when 2 works just fine. read more
