Fun little shop. Not gonna lie, they hooked me with the Street Fighter collabs. Other than some boxing training with a buddy of mine, I haven't trained properly in years. Still, the collabs caught my eye. Visited to figure out my size as I was eyeing the Ryu hoodie but I might have to pull the trigger on a different color as white doesn't seem like the best choice for workout gear, though I was impressed with the quality on the hoodies. The t shirt designs were cool too but material was a bit thin. Did pick up some wraps though. Staff was friendly and helpful. I do a mix of online and instore shopping, great for when you need something quick or to exchange an online purchase. I prefer instore for major purchases, however, especially gloves to make sure they fit/feel/look right. As the millennials do these days, I first heard of Superare the brand on social media, thought the products seemed cool, and was excited to learn that they have a storefront in NYC. The place is decently small and packed with all sorts of MMA gear, a really great selection of gloves, pads, as well as a large selection of clothing as well. I'm a beginner boxer so I can't speak to the quality of the gear they had in stock, but the employees were so incredibly nice and helpful (and unintimidating) and seemed very knowledgable about all the products that they offer. They helped me pick out a new pair of boxing gloves and weren't in any way pushy or promoting their product over others -- the emphasis was on picking a pair of gloves that feels the best on you, with everyone being different in terms of their preferences. I came in with the intent of getting the Superare leather gloves, but ended up getting a different pair that fit me better (suggested by the guy who helped me out). Would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking to buy new boxing gear in person! P.S. I love Superare Fight Shop. I describe it as a intimate, moderately sized boutique for all things fight. You will find traditional boxing items, Jiu jitsu gear, trainer items, as well as MMA needs. Although, I am not a boxer by any means, I do love the sport. However, I do not come here for any form of physical boxing items. I do frequent the shop for the cool stylish gear meaning, t-shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, zip up jackets, hats, etc. You will find awesome Mike Tyson, Mohammed Ali, Rocky Marciano.... Gear. The gentlemen that work here are extremely knowledgeable about the product they sell. They are very helpful & most importantly super nice. Came here with friend who boxes. We walk in and she knows two of the staff who attend her boxing gym. Very nice, personalized service. She was replacing gloves and the salesman took care to have her try and explain all sorts of criteria and points regarding he types. Extremely knowledgeable. Store has a cool out, retro vibe, playing hip hop and rock. T-shirts were nice- some Iron Mike pieces. The ALI wall was the zenith of giving props to the greatest of all time. I'm so lucky to live nearby as they have a great selection of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, MMA, and Boxing gear, in addition to apparel and accessories. It's really a one-of-a-kind shop with items for varying budgets that are not easy to try on with expert knowledge at your disposal. I visit frequently as well as take out of town guests when I have the chance because it's so unique. I was there last week to grab some Muay Thai gear (gloves and shin guards), and Peter provided A++ service making me feel comfortable with what I was buying and I walked out a very satisfied customer. I like the store. They have a great collection of boxing gears/accessories. The store managers are super nice, friendly and helpful. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star is because if I would have bought the same shoes on Amazon (or any other retailer online) and they did not fit me too well, I could have just requested a replacement. Do they seem to have a monopoly on the local MMA/boxing/BJJ gear market? Absolutely. Do I mind? Nope, I happily spend an arm and a leg here. Boxing and BJJ items are going to be expensive anywhere and occasionally you'll find great deals on MMAwarehouse or BJJHQ but I like being able to see and try things on before purchasing (especially because some of the online stores don't have great return policies). Everyone in the shop is extremely knowledgeable and happy to help. I was there for over an hour just trying on gear and they didn't try to rush or push me to buy the most expensive brand. Shoutout to Jose for answering all of my questions and making some amazing recommendations. I do wish that some of their own Superare long sleeve rashguards came in women sizes. I bought the smallest size in their long sleeve and it's one of my favorites. Unfortunately, it's just a little too loose to make it the best for rolling since it rises up my midriff too easily. Can't wait for the new gloves to be released--definitely investing in a pair (if only I could justify more than two pairs of gloves, I'd be buying every new release haha!). read more

I'm rarely compelled to write a review but as someone who has developed quite a passion for boxing, I wanted to spread the love. Came in a couple of days ago as the very last customer of the day. Now, I've had experiences in the past where employees will shoo you off or rush you because they just want their day to be over. Luckily, Dylan treated me as if I was the first customer of the day! Needed new boxing gloves for my small hands (and chubby fingers) as my previous gloves proved ill-fitting, especially over time. We actually narrowed down to one pair of gloves immediately (Society Nine 16 oz Bia Gloves for those wondering). Also tried other gloves for good measure (which he easily could've pushed on me as they were more expensive) but he showed genuine concern about fit and long-term health. Just trained with them yesterday and while I'll need a couple of sessions to get used to them, I'm super pleased with the fit and quality. In-store fittings are a must for me, and I'm thrilled that there is a place like this in the city. Will definitely be back! read more

I came here thanks to the great Yelp reviews to pick up new gloves. Although I liked my purchase, I found the salesperson's attitude extremely condescending. I had done research and traveled 45 minutes from my neighborhood to try on the gloves I wanted. He clearly knew the products, and I would have enjoyed our conversation much more if he hadn't immediately treated me so rudely. I have 10 years' worth of experience across multiple martial arts disciplines--yet right off the bat (perhaps because I'm a petite woman?), he treated me (and my friend, also a petite woman with lots of experience) like I was a know-nothing novice. This is my updated review.... Last time I went to superare it was to buy a pair of wraps for boxing. Somehow after speaking with the staff for five minutes I ended up signing up Muay Thai classes in my home city. So when it came time for me to buy some nice muay thai gloves, I took the trip back down to NYC and came back. I have read too many horror stories about knock offs, and bad fits so I wanted to feel out the gloves and perosn and buy them from a reputable source. Just to be clear I took a trip to nyc specifically for this store. This place is a gem, it has the same feeling as a great skateshop. The staff and selection of Muay Thai gloves there was phenomenal. multiple brands, multiple models, in multiple weights. I cannot express how helpful it is to try on a glove prior to buying it. I went in assuming i was going to walk out with 16oz fairtex but after speaking with the staff, i tried on some 14oz Twins Specials and fell in love. I have had the gloves for two months now and they have aged beautifully. read more

Great friendly staff, great selection of gear, nice space to look around and reminisce. I went looking for lace-up boxing gloves and found not so much of a lace-up selection, but I did get to try on some other brands that I had seen before. It's pretty hard to buy a variety of brands of boxing gloves anywhere; this place is it. Prices are higher than they should be, but it's on a trendy block, I'm sure their rent ain't cheap. I wound up buying a bag to hold all my gear made by them. Real nice and has their logo on it. Seemed perfect for what I needed, but the strap construction was shoddy and busted up in a day. I brought it back and they replaced it, but that bag also had shoddy straps. So, I was burnt for 99 bucks. They are cool folks, but I still feel some type of way with that bag being not tough enough to carry a boxer's gear and last as long as possible. Makes me wonder about their own brand of gloves. Soooo, great place to see the gear in person, try it on and get good advice on fits and quality and sizing and see all kinds of fight gear & t-shirts. Buying stuff is gonna cost more, and their own stuff... just be wary. read more

Dylan and his staff are awesome at helping you select the right gear from fit to price for you interest and skill level. I train BJJ and Muay Thai. When I need gear I head over at lunch - sometimes get lunch at Russ and Daughters - talk with Dylan about what I am looking for/need and he hooks me up. My husband bought me a gift card to this store for my birthday so we stopped by yesterday. I didn't really know what I was shopping for bc frankly I didn't know when/whether or not I needed to replace my gloves. The guy who helped me (didn't get his name) was super friendly and walked me through the different gloves they had that he thought fit my needs. Smaller selection of women's apparel but I could get workout clothing anywhere so didn't really care about that. Four star review. There aren't too many shops in the city for gear that isn't sold at a gym. So unless you're part of a Muay Thai, BJJ, MMA gym, etc. Your options to buy and check out gear is slim pickings unless you decide to head out to Long Island for the few MMA shops over there. But East Coast MMA Fight Shop fills in that spot with a plethora of options. Everything from popular boxing brands like Ringside to now Glory official Hayabusa to more Muay Thai branded gear like Yokkao - they have it all. In addition to a ton of the fight gear they also seem to have a ton of martial arts related tees and also BJJ gear. When I had first stepped in I was greeted by Dylan and he helped out a lot. And as usual the whole MMA universe seems to be a small one since he had actually known a few people from my gym as well. So they'll definitely be getting business from me again in the future. I just wished the store was a tiny bit bigger and not in the LES. But I'm sure as their business expands they'll probably either be opening another store in the future or expanding into a larger space. This small boutique fight shop is a great location for all your equipment needs. They have handwraps, gloves, shin pads, groin potectors and a nice selection of apparel. The owner, Zach was really nice and helpful. He came out to talk shop which was great and the other staff member was super helpful when I tried on a Roots of the Fight tee shirt. The prices are reasonable and they have a good selection across all the different brands from Yokkao, to Venum, to Fairtex. They also started running their own brands which is cool to see. They recently opened up their third location and are looking like they are here to stay on the scene. I am hooked on this place! Been there twice and the experience has been great. The staff is always attentive and very friendly. I had a possible problem with an online order and the staff was so super helpful in helping me investigate and solving it. Seriously, now this is true customer service! In addition, he always gave me the most honest responses on my questions regarding their products (mostly T-shirts & apparel for me) and I see him full-heartedly helping out the other people for gear (gloves and gi) too. I brought one of their original t-shirts and I gotta say, the quality can easily match any of the more expensive Roots of Fight t-shirts I brought before. I am definitely going to check out this place whenever I am in the neighborhood for their Roots of Fight (they are the only store that have the rights to stock Roots of Fight shirts on the East Coast) shirts (they also sell it at a lower price compared to the Roots of Fight site most of the time) and their unique original t-shirts. Finally got to stop in this afternoon after work. It is great to find an actual storefront with TONS of BJJ gi's to check out and try on. Don't be deceived by the small store space: this place has TONS of merchandise inside: gi's, fight shorts, tee shirts, and striking equipment among other things. They make their own tee shirts which i bought today as well as a mouthguard. I will be back next time for a new gi to support this local business! I got to meet the owners (Zac and another gentleman). Really nice guys. Zac was very friendly and and went through a bunch of gi's with me to show me the various styles.
