I really value the time Jenny takes to communicate and explain what I can expect and what my options are based on my history and goals. I have always wanted lighter hair but was always afraid of the potential damage of this process. Thankfully, Jenny always prioritized my hair health! It took us 3 sessions to get to my current goal of VERY light blonde and through it all, Jenny did what was needed to keep my hair long and strong. It felt easy to trust Jenny with my hair as she explained everything to me along the way. She's also very open to feedback so I was very comfortable letting her know when my color goals changed. She was very flexible and got me to my new goals. I absolutely love my new hair; there's so much depth and the colors of my hair blend so smoothly. I also really appreciate how seriously the salon takes COVID-19 protocols. They do not permit walk-ins and do not double book so there is never anyone waiting for a session in the salon. The chairs are well spaced out and they seem to plan it so that not all the chairs are occupied to maintain more than adequate social distancing. At arrival, customer temps are taken and we're instructed to wash our hands before taking a seat. Each chair is immediately wiped down after each service and masks are required while in the salon. I think it's great that they do everything they can to make the customers feel safe.

The first warning sign came when I was asked to go back to the hotel to get my foundation and powder because there was no foundation dark enough in the salon. I was part of the bridal party so I had been waiting at the salon for an hour before I was asked to do this. At that point, I just wished I was asked earlier. Then, I sat in the chair. Again, I should've known something was up when a stylist came to watch the artist do my makeup. The artist turned to her and proceeded to talk about how different primer looks on my complexion. She then turns back to me and talks about how it's cool to be working on dark skin. This is when I started wishing for a different approach. All people have melanin in their skin. Some have more than others. That's it. The commentary wasn't necessary. In the end, she wasn't able to fill my eyebrows in either because she "didn't have an eyebrow powder to match". Seriously? No one has ever entered the salon with black eyebrows? That seems highly unlikely. The staff at the salon are nice. However, I'm hoping that they learn from this review. I felt like an experiment when I was in that chair and that is not the experience I wanted. This may be a good time for the artist to better her skills by working with more skin tones because as she stated "I'm (the artist) the darkest one here."
