I wear my hair fairly long and asked for just an inch off the sides and make the rest a bit shorter. After the first whack on the sides of at least 1.5 inches she kept cutting more on each side to even things up. When all said and done I've not had my hair this short since the 6th grade. She listens to your needs and respects the way you want your hair done. I'm grateful to her because my hair is so healthy after coming to see her all these years. I continue to get so many compliments on the color she helped pick for me and she only cuts the dead ends that need sprucing, so my hair has maintained it's length. The prices at Salon Montana are extremely reasonable for the quality of service you get. Also I don't know how she does it but my color actually stays! I'll come back 90 days after and we notice how good the majority of my color has lasted. At other salons I felt like the colors quickly faded but not here. The shop itself is very welcoming and cozy. Always clean and the location in downtown La Quinta is perfect as you can run next door to grab a quick coffee or snack before/after your service. Stephanie really tailors her services to everyone. Men and women's hair. I'm in my 30's and she's my stylist for life (or for however long she will put up with me lol). Also to note my moms in her 60's and also comes to her regularly. Her hair has never looked better and is so healthy now. It just shows if your reading this, whoever you are, it's likely that Stephanie will get it just right for you and she definitely deserves your business. I came in with a bad at home dye job (patches of faded green) and asked for a dirty blonde with highlights. I was expecting her to keep my roots, use an orange toner to correct the green (color correction) but instead, she had bleached my whole head. I trusted the process and trusted her. I restated what I wanted over and over, and showed her multiple pictures.. I wanted my roots to look natural (I'm a dark dirty blonde-light brown) as they grew in, therefore wanting her to keep my roots as they were and add in highlights/lowlights after color correcting. After the bleach was done, she went in with more bleach for highlights and dye for lowlights. Then put a toner on to make it not as yellow, which is what I wanted and I'm so glad it didn't come out golden yellow. However, at the end of the day, my hair was bleach blonde with barely any lowlights. I feel as if she should have saw that my roots were whiter than my scalp and not what I wanted at all. Of course I tried to like it and wanted to go home to mess with it and take cute pictures of myself, but I instead hated it, went to walgreens and got a box dye. I am very happy that she got the green out by bleaching it. However, she stated she was doing a color correction; bleaching is not color correcting. And the outcome was not what I was expecting. I paid $210 (price was $300 but got 30% off) to basically get my hair bleached since the lowlights didn't even show up. She also put in olaplex ($25 extra), which I thought was supposed to be optional, as stated on the website, but she added it in with the bleach without asking first. I should not have paid $210 for what I got.

With word that salons were reopening after…read morethe Covid closures I quickly got on Yelp to find out what salons were highly rated in Rancho Mirage. I'm new to the area so I'm relying heavily on Yelp to establish my new favorite places out in the desert! Agape Salon & Spa came highly rated. I called, left a message and a few hours later heard back from Ismael. Ismael explained given the recent lift of the Covid closures, they were FULLY BOOKED but he'd be happy to take my name and number and offer the first cancellation to me. I was OVERJOYED when the following day Ismael called and offered me an appointment first thing in the morning the following day! I showed up a few minutes early and found Ismael's smiling face at the reception desk. He explained all of the Covid measures that we would be taking. He asked me to please sanitize my hands, took my temperature, put my belongings in a plastic bag, and provided me with a new face mask to wear. In addition to this I was asked to fill out a form asking various Covid related questions. All of this made me feel very sure I'd be safe while having my services. I was shown to the station and I was introduced to Felipe. We had a consultation where we talked about what I wanted to achieve. Basically I have waist-length brown colored hair with what was an almost 3-inch growth of grey. Additionally, my ends were in bad shape. So, we agreed on a hair color and cut and we were off to the races! Felipe applied my color, suggested adding a deep conditioning treatment (which we did), gave me an AMAZING scalp and neck massage, cut, and blew out my hair to PERFECTION! I've had dozens of hair dressers in my lifetime and Felipe has "the" gift... the gift of almost being at one with his art of hair styling. I watched as Felipe studied my hair in choosing a color, the way he separated my hair to color it, the way he washed, cut, and styled it... he did it all with confidence and intention. This comes from not only skill, but talent. I'm blessed to have found Felipe! So, we know Felipe can color, wash, cut, and style the heck outta my hair... wait for it... wait for it... he does make-up too! Yep, he's a one-man glam squad! While I was there he was kind enough to help me pick a eye-brow pencil and squeezed me in before his next client to clean-up by eye-brows!
