I noticed that the last couple of times I came here the prices looked incorrect on the receipt when I got home. So today, I actually kept a running list of every single price of every item I bought in my phone, nearly every item except for papaya came up incorrectly when I got to the register. The staff said that they couldn't honor any price unless I showed them a picture. So I stood my ground and made them go check. I even had to site New York State law, showing them that if there is a price on a sign with the name of the item that they have to by law honor the price. Absolutely ridiculous. Super Fresh stores are just Key Foods owned by one family). If you want to shop someplace conveniently close to home this is your place. If you want to shop in a store where the groceries are more expensive than they are at Whole Foods, this is your store. I love this grocery store. There is a key food closer to me but they are way more expensive than super fresh. It's a clean well organized store and quality meat. I've never had an issue. I see reviews saying it's so expensive and whole foods is cheaper. Whole foods is owned by a multi millionaire corporation ofc they can provide more deals and keep the doors open. this super fresh is owned locally. SuperFresh 242 Bay Ridge Ave, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn - F RATING!!! As most of you that get groceries at SuperFresh, their shelf prices are not always the same as the price that's charged at checkout. This happens with not only items that are on sale, but with non sale items as well. I usually catch the error at the checkout as I bag my groceries. I usually alert the cashier to asked for a price check, get give her the correct price, gives her the manager card to override and walks away, never acknowledging the customer with an apology. Very unfriendly and inconsiderate. This time, the manager DAWN comes, looks at the item and goes to the bread isle. I followed and she points to another (similar item that's not on sale) and says, in a loud stern voice that it's not on sale, it says bread, not muffins, never once looking at me. I walked her to the correct item and asked her to read it, and she read the sale item and its sale price. She says nothing else, walks back to the cashier, looks at the item and runs away. When I asked if DAWN relayed to her the error, she said no and that she just came, looked at the item and walked away. Waiting for 5 minutes she appears isles away collecting empty carts. I had to raise my voice and call her name saying we are waiting. She comes back and says to the cashier, "I said It's $2.49", and again walks away. Cashier then says she needs her managers card to override the transaction (which she knows since she does it numerous times a day). She gives the card and runs away, without saying a word to me. I complain about her to the cashier. DAWN walks back and says to me, finally looking at me that she told he cashier. I said no you didn't, and said what she really did, and she's done it in the past, and no apologies to the customer. But as I'm speaking, she heard nothing that I said as she was talking over me, not listening, just mumbling over and over she's doing the best she can. As I exit, another manager just looks at me as I pass her to leave to which I said, "And you have a good day too". I go to this grocery store because of its convenience. I go 2-3 times a week for years, since it's opened. The cashiers are pleasant and some very friendly but the DAWN and the other managers are very unprofessional. Not one Tim that I've been there have the managers looked my way, greeted me, assisted me voluntarily. There were too many grocery stores, and too many other options out there, and people should never have to tolerate bad behavior on top of bad business. I have never seen anything out of place They are open early and close late--even on Sundays, they close at 10PM The guys at the store have been helpful when I have an issue with a price at the register or needed something Con's The lines are often long because they never have more than three registers open. Yet, I will two or three people near the self-checkout area Some of the staff is rude. One girl, who is fairly young g always seems to have an attitude. I've just avoided going on her line. She decided to pack out a customers groceries while three of four of us waited--and took her sweet time doing it. There's another lady I. The morning who seems more interested in her personal conversation to even complete the transaction. I am so disgusted with this store in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. The prices are never correct as advertised. When you go to ring it up, they are always higher at the register and then I have to quarrel with the cashier to obtain the advertised price. This store is convenient to me. I like the selection, the advertised prices and the staff are good. My complaint is that there are many errors in the prices charged. An item will be advertised at one price, but the price charged will often enough be another, higher price. The staff will generally make it right if you point out the error - but the price in the computer won't be changed. The next customer will be overcharged. Update: literally 1 hour after original post.... So I made this yelp review right after I made an Instacart order. I am removing one star because the supermarket dropped the ball.... I called before placing my order and specifically asked if there were any 5gal water bottles in stock... was placed on hold and the lady came back and said "yes, we have them." A few minutes later my Instacart shopper is texting me telling me they don't have any. So I called the store again and a young lady said "we don't have any till later they get delivered today." I literally made my order based on the fact that they had that 5gal available... they need to understand what "in stock" really means and maybe have a better system for their Instacart orders so the app shows what's actually in stock... The only reason I even made the Instacart order was cause they claimed to have these bottles available and I can't currently go get them myself.... Original: It's clean. It's big and spacious and has lots of items to choose from. Their deli and bakery is always so clean and that's really what I look for cause if the deli is dirty then it means everything we can't see is filthy... but not at this location, it seems like they really take care of the store. Now when it comes to the freshness of the food/produce/dairy.... I have zero complaints. I've never had an issue with expired food, never had an issue with anything tasting bad or being sour. . My only complaint about this store Is the checkout area. It's very tight and uncomfortable, sometimes confusing if there's lots of people on line. I've witnessed three people get into small spats over who was on what line and who was first. No fights or anything but the fact that the lines aren't clear and it's tight is bound to leave some people upset. Personally, I go very early morning or late evening when the store is less crowded. This has the potential to be a great store. However the young ladies that work at the self-checkout station on Saturday's are very rude and nasty. My card appeared to have gotten charged yesterday so I left with my $3.59 basting brushes. They chased me to tell me it hadn't gone through even though the screen seemed to indicate that it did and barked at me that my receipt was for a previously purchased item by someone else. They stand around doing nothing and then basically yelled at me and asked me if I could read. Very rude. I tried to get a refund today. Yesterday I bought Ben and Jerrys for 2/$8. Got home, I looked at the receipt, was charged $4.99 and $6.79. Went to Keyfood today. I showed one of the workers my receipt, she asked if I brought the ice cream with me and they need to see it to give me a refund. I said no, but I took a picture. She brought the receipt to a manager (?) who said one of the items was non-dairy. I showed her the picture to prove it was not. She mumbled quietly, "well, that's not what the receipt says". She and I went to the freezer section, and she said the one for $6.79 was not included because it was at the bottom of the freezer and the sticker on the outside of the door was not in front of it. Which is really silly, how would a customer know this 'rule'. She then talked to a man who was another supervisor or owner who said we have to give a refund. So she brings me to the register, said to me "I don't know why you didn't come back yesterday to do this ". Their policy is that you have to bring in a item within 7 days. I give her my credit card and she said I get a refund of $1.80. I said it that's not correct. She says "well, that's all I'm going to give you". Yes, those were her exact words. She looked at the receipt again, saw she was wrong and finally gave me a refund of $3.79. This place is such a nightmare. read more

This place is DISGUSTING. I thought it was great at first-it's new and spacious inside, has a nice selection. I bought 2 steaks and when I got home 1 was normal, but the other was red when taking it out of the package but when exposed to air, quickly turned dark greyish brown and when I smelled it, it smelled like BLEACH. WHAT?! I also noticed at that point that the texture of the surface of the meat was dimpled and had an odd sheen to it. I've been shopping at this supermarket since it's grand opening under 'Keyfood'. I'm saddened to say as of late, myself along with members of my family whom are of Asian decent (we're Chinese Americans by the way, born and raised in Brooklyn) have been bullied by staff members making racist comments since the pandemic. I've written an email via website however not sure if it'll get passed up to the right chain of command. I definitely have every intention to call and address this issue further. If I had personally experienced this, it makes me wonder how many other Chinese Americans out there have dealt with these racist comments from staff members but are afraid to voice themselves. It's extremely unprofessional and no one should ever have to feel this way. Racism is NOT okay, having your mother, father, sister or brother bullied by racial comments is not right. Okay, so Key Food is not Whole Foods, but I will get the bulk of my groceries here. After exploring my options in the neighborhood, all of the surrounding stores are greatly lacking. There was a store that sold select items such as fruits, veggies, boxed rice, work boots but no bread. I mean, it is just hard to find what you want in the other stores! It's way more time and cost efficient to shop at Key Food. I signed up for the savings club, and the ads they have in a newspaper/coupon format is helpful because I can price out the purchases ahead of time, which is pretty awesome for budgeting. I am a complete newbie at couponing, but I can get off go a good start by checking out their paper. Now, I saw there were green, yellow and red bell peppers that were chopped up and packaged for sale. How convenient! And it was a great price too. This store has all my favorites and can be a one-stop deal when getting groceries. The food seems fresh and the place is clean with polite workers. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that I am comparing it to Publix (a grocery store chain in Florida) and it cannot compare. It's rare that I write a review of a super market, but I just had to note that despite putting a new coat of paint (e.g. expanded store with new facilities over the Key Food that was here before) the quality seems to have gone down, or maybe it was never there to begin with. There were high hopes during the early renovations that this place would come close to rivaling the Whole Foods in northern Brooklyn, but alas, there are some major improvements still needed. Since this is the closest super market near my house, I make regular stops here to pick up juice drinks, milk, eggs, the the occasional meat product. Slowly over time, I have stopped buying anything "fresh" at the store as I have been disappointed time and again. First was the meat...Steaks are often tough, dry and not fresh smelling even when the "used by" date is well before expiration. The produce is often in a sad state of affairs, I didn't realize how much until I noticed my son (who is two years old) refusing to eat any of the "organic" product I buy from Super Fresh. I subsequently went to the local 3 Guys and bought the same organic brand strawberries and noticed how much more healthier looking the produce was not to mention my son gobbled it up immediately. When a two year old knows the difference between fresh produce then know something is wrong. The last straw was the other night when I bought some salmon from the seafood counter, which seems to never be staffed at 6pm at night. I constantly have to ask for assistance. This particular night I bought a 1.5 pound of farmed salmon. When I brought it home I got a big whiff of an ammonia smell. I thought maybe it was just the paper it was wrapped in and washed it with some clean water and began cutting some portions. However, the smell got worse and when I brought it to my nose it had the distinct smell of bleach. I nearly vomited, quickly packed it up and returned it to Super Fresh. The nice lady at the service desk gave me a prompt refund, but I'm never buying fresh produce, meat or fish from this place ever again. If you stick to the food that are mostly prepackaged from the major food brands and buy any items with an expiration date you should be okay. Be very wary of anything "fresh" here...Or maybe they should just change their name to Super Spoiled, that way you know already what items to avoid. read more

Keyfoods never comes in shades of greys. You either love em' or hate em'. Superfresh is new Keyfoods concept, and I do love this one. Renovated few years back, it is rather big, clean, and stocked up with everything you need in supermarket. Produce is good, and it's always an indicator of good store for me. It is super convenient right in a heart on Bay Ridge. Parking on the street can be a bear, but the have free parking garage across the street! Definitely a winner. read more

We gave this place a chance for the first time last week . We were excited to find a combination of met food and balady with a little Whole Foods intake in Bay Ridge. They also offer free garage parking and free delivery and it really looked promising giving all the options they have in store. Unfortunately, we got a pre-seasoned chicken kofta and prepared it for dinner yesterday and ended up having to cook a second dinner and toss it all in trash , we took one bite and had to chase it down with one gallon of water with how much salt was in it. We go there as a last resort. They barely deserve one star but they actually carry a decent organic eggs selection... that's pretty much the only pro. The place is VERY DIRTY. They do not rotate their items carefully and we regularly find expired food on the shelves. During the worst of the pandemic, we never saw anyone sanitize anything and some managers wore their masks under their nose, if they wore any. There were several workers behind the counter but they told her they could not serve her because the person who handles the pizza dough is on break. I avoid this store as much as possible because there is insufficient protection from the virus. Customers seems oblivious to the need for social distancing and no one from the store attempts to manage this. The check out process is especially dangerous as people are allowed to brush against each other and get very close to each other. Some provisions have been made but they are routinely overridden. If you want your groceries delivered, use Costco, not this store. Costco is very accurate, amazingly fast, has superior food and selection. Fees and prices are very reasonable. read more

Decent store. Much improved since its opening. However, there are two ongoing problems with this store. First, be sure to doublecheck your receipt because the cashiers make mistakes, especially with items like produce that don't have a bar code. (Some cashiers will ask you if they don't know the price which is okay with me but others will just charge any price.) Second, which is very important to me because we are in a pandemic yet you see SuperFresh employees including manager! (and occasionally customers) wearing face masks incorrectly or not at all. How ignorant can you be interacting with scores of people? If your mask is uncomfortable then get another type that makes breathing easier! I had to wait over three hours for my father's groceries to be delivered after I specifically requested they be delivered sooner. This was on March 11. My dad needs help since he has a hard time getting around and I live out of state. I come to help my dad to unpack his groceries but because the delivery was so late, I am missing an appointment I have made back at home. I find this to be very poor customer service. Just wish Key Foods would stay open late. Most of the produce here that I've bought is fresh and yummy. ONE thing though...the clams that we've bought here have always gone bad within 24 hours. EVEN if we put it in the fridge/freezer. We at first thought it was a one time thing, but we've bought clams from them on three different occasions. Great selection and prices , nice helpful staff , only thing I didn't care for was the large fruit and custard tart from their bakery . Nice seafood and also halal meat department for those interested . They have footprint spots marked on the floor while waiting in line at the registers to social distance . I wouldn't normally post 2 negative reviews, but Saturday was a new low for this store and I'm horrified enough that I wanted to share my experience in hopes that others think twice about buying frozen food (or perhaps any perishable food) from SuperFresh. Of course I've also contacted headquarters and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. On Saturday (11/3) I went to SuperFresh for ice cream and all the ice cream was melted, and not slightly. I felt many different brands before reporting the problem to someone who works at the store. He looked concerned for a moment but did nothing. As I waited in line I saw what seemed to be employee stare at the ice cream for a bit before going to look at the grocery deliveries. Later when I walked by the store I saw the ice cream was all still in the freezer and no sign (great view of the freezers from the sidewalk). I obviously have no love for SuperFresh but now I know that they have no love for their customers and would rather people get sick from consuming melted ice cream that throw out the bad containers. Their beer selection and friendly cashiers are the only things this store has going for it. Somebody (anybody) please open a better grocery store in this part of Bay Ridge!! read more

Say what you will about other Key Foods in the city, but this one has a superstar of a cashier in Elisa. In a city that doesn't wear its heart on its sleeve it was notable when Elisa was entirely genuine in her friendly chatter and care in checking me out at the register. An absolute breath of fresh air in this busy part of town. Wish I met people like her every day! read more

I honestly don' t mind the store, it's usually clean and has everything I need. However theres these two girls at the self checkout station and every time I go in I see them laughing at customers. One time I walked by them and I heard of one them say, while discreetly pointing to someone, "look at that fat-", unfortunately I didn't get to hear the rest as I was too far away by then. Once I even had an encounter with the short one myself to which I found her to be incredibly rude. I refuse to go here along with my friends who have also had the displeasure of seeing how they act. You'd think they'd have a better attitude for just standing around and doing nothing but I suppose not. After reading other reviews I should be shocked at the lack of 5 stars and complaints of the workers but I'm not. Honestly I'm just wondering if you guys intentionally hire the most insufferable people to exist. read more

Some staff members are really kind, caring, helpful - especially the sushi makers. The store is there and open long hours which I appreciate and sometimes there are good discounted sale prices. I feel like the quality is questionable too often though, and by this I mean about 7 out of 10 shopping trips there is something either outdated or properly dated but spoiled. Being that this is the case, the return should be less like being interrogated, spending so much time processing the return since it has to be done within 3 days which is inconvenient and annoying. I have tried a few times to bring the item back on the 4th day or just the receipt if its meat that needs to be thrown out and I can never return the thing. Being there is so much of this that happens either get better with whatever it will take to not have so many spoiled items or be more relaxed with returns which I have encountered at other markets. I hate having to suck it up but I just can't always make it back to the store. read more
