Eddie, the owner, came out, cleaned the chimney, was reliable and professional. He also informed me that my chimney had mortar deterioration and that a liner was required prior to my new fuel oil furnace install. The furnace company confirmed this and his price of $2,200. We set a date for the install, but at day one and day two, he stated that the liner had not come in. By day 3 afternoon I was nervous that perhaps I was being scammed, and that my $1,100 deposit was going to be stolen with no completion of work. I told Eddie my concern. He was justly upset, promised me that was not the case, showed up at my home to drop off ladder and supplies to comfort me while he headed to Columbus to retrieve the liner. Upon his return, we discussed his difficulties finding good help, the problems facing business owners today, and his fears. As a small business owner for 35+ years, I acknowledge and sympathize with what entrepreneur's face in today's market. Bottom line, I am giving him a perfect star for perfect effort. It gets messy tearing down an old chimney and not one of our delicate plants in front of our house were damaged. The workers did not have a truck big enough to haul all of the old chimney away, so Ted sent someone out on Mother's Day to take care of it. Ted personally came out a few days later to look at the work. We experienced very high winds the following week and our chimney cap blew off.
