I can't say enough good things about Superior Grill. Portions are gigantic, the salsa is fantastic, and the service is snappy. It would be great if they offered smaller, cheaper portions, but leftovers from Superior Grill never go uneaten in my house. There's a reason Superior Grill is a fave in BR; the food is phenomenal and service is excellent too...not to mention their famous margaritas ;) I wanted to try everything on the menu but opted to try something new. I ordered the Mesquite chicken salad and my husband the taco salad. Both around $10.95 on the lunch menu, but truly we could have split one because portion size was huge. My 5 y/o wanted soup, so I got her the chicken tortilla soup. It came with soft tacos, which I typically prefer crunchy in the soup but she didn't complain. It was also loaded with veggies including huge chunks of avocado, which she did complain about but still sipped up the delicious broth while I gobbled up the delicious chunks of veggies :) I didn't get to try their brunch menu, so I'll be heading back for more hopefully soon ;) read more

First and foremost let me say that I am not a huge fan of Mexican food. However, I do go to Superior Grill often. Superior grill is a nice little Americanized ish Mexican restaurant in the lical Baton Rouge that is popular for its food, drinks and local performances. The ambience is very friendly and to be honest the service is superb. The servers are (so far) very nice and very accomadating. The complimentary chips and salsa here are some of my favorite in town! Be careful though its really easy to fill up on these without even getting an appetizer. Speaking of appetizers the ceviche here is one of the best that I have had. This ceviche consists of some fish light onion and tomatoe mix with lime. The chip that comes on the outside is like a nice flaky crunchy thick chip that goes great with the ceviche. I usually get the fajitas here and the quality is quite good with nice steak, shrimp, chicken and lots of other condiments to go with your fajitas. Sour cream, Guacamole, Onions and Bell peppers all go very well with the fajitas. The only drawback about Superior Grill in my opinion is that it is a bit pricey. However, the food is still great and you should definitely give it a try if you haven't yet! Great food and great service! PEACE read more

They offer a Lenten menu too. I eat here often. The food is good. It can get loud in the dining area if all tables are used. That makes it festive but harder to communicate if sitting at a table with a large group. This time I stopped with a friend after work on a Thursday. It was not as packed and crowded as I've seen happy hour on past Thursdays. But a nice crowd. So.... This is really a review for happy hour. There's a band on Thursdays and this one was fun. Lots of people in the large covered patio area. I like being at the bar inside and the way it is set up with row of Bartop tables parallel with long bar. Feels friendlier. The frozen margarita is just as strong as it always has been. Everclear?! Pace yourself with the two for one special. Bartenders are nice. Service is good. Lots of variety in dishes offered. I am leaving this place right now because a German roach(the small ones that breed in unsanitary conditions) just crawled up from behind the bar toward our chips. I killed it with my menu. Got the bartender to remove our stuff and he told me to check my attitude about the situation. I asked to see the manager who took his sweet time coming out then proceeded to tell me it was a big cockroach like outside and I said no it wasn't and my witness agreed. He then made the excuse that they sprayed yesterday so that's why it came out. If you have a roach crawling on your bar then you've got them in the kitchen too. I informed the people at the hostess stand about the roach and the manager out right lied and said "don't worry, it was one of those big ones like from outside". Never going there again! read more

Ordered two $50+ orders within two weeks to-go. First order, 15-20+ minutes late while my girlfriend waited at the bar to pick up the order. I had to go in and ask what the situation was and tipped $0. Today, ordered again and told 15-20 minutes wait. Girlfriend arrived 25+ minutes after the order and waited for 15+ minutes and no order. I called the restaurant and was assured "nobody said anything" and "this wouldn't happen again." Well, your to-go orders SUCK. Why pay $50+ dollars for cold food? I'll take my business elsewhere. This place is to Mexican what Olive Garden is to Italian. If you can see past that, it's pretty damn good. The margaritas are STRONG. Like, make sure you have transportation lined up, don't make any plans for the rest of the day-strong. The first time I came here, after one margarita I was wondering why the hell I was suddenly thinking that I was stuck in the middle of the cast of Game of Thrones. I swear to God I thought I was hanging with the Lancasters and the Starks. The margaritas will do that to you. You will see things. Which probably explains why they serve them in a Styrofoam cup. Less chance of injury. Their steak fajitas are amazing. I'm not sure what they do to get skirt steak that tender. I actually probably don't want to know. And they grill the fajitas on mesquite, so the meat takes on this really smoky flavor. Pro tip: This place gets crazy busy, especially on the weekends. We've never had to wait for a table though - we just go sit at the bar for a few minutes and wait for something to open up. Usually does in no more than 5 minutes, which beats the 45 minutes to an hour you'd wait for the dining room. read more

So disappointed, my wife ordered the mesquite fajitas and the flavor, instead of grilled meat over mesquite charcoal, just tasted like meat tenderizer. The meat was either, skirt or flank steak was easy to cut, however, the taste was so bad she could not eat it. Horrible, we would prefer the meat to be tough, than taste that way. Superior Grill is just that. As I've said in previous reviews, I'm not the biggest fan of Mexican food. However, if I'm going to go somewhere, it will probably be Superior Grill. I've never had a bad meal there and I always have enough leftover for lunch the next day. They have a large menu selection, with most items under $15. They also have melt-in-your-mouth flan! Another good thing about Superior Grill is the atmosphere. If you want to have drinks and party, Superior Grill is definitely your place. They have a screened in porch area with its own little bar and different bands. Superior is crowded most of the time anyway, but the porch turns into standing (or dancing!) room only pretty quickly when there's a band. The wonderful margaritas make the experience that much better, though there are ALWAYS cops nearby waiting to pull people over, so be careful about how much you have to drink! All in all, a fun and tasty place! read more

This was pretty plain Mexican food. Not much flavor. I would definitely never come back here. The tortillas were not homemade which I hate when I go to restaurants. DO NOT EAT HERE. Bad. I cannot say it any clearer. This was by far and away the worst experience I have had in a restaurant in years. I have eaten at Superior Grill in Birmingham many times and the Baton Rouge location 3 times now. Baton Rouge must not be the same owners! The first time was mediocre at best. The second, 2 months ago, was disappointing. This time was terrible. I will never return. My fajitas came out cold, 1 (yeas one!) strip of uncooked green pepper and a pile of onions with what looked like a boiled and sliced chicken breast. No spices, no caramelization, no signs of anything except a boiled chicken breast. All for only $20! I sent it back with specific instructions to NOT put this mess on a hot plate and send it back. Guess what! They tried it. Sent it back, cancelled my order and waited for my wife to finish her meal ($16 for 2 enchiladas drowning in canned sauce). Spoke to the floor manager who acknowledged the meal was improperly prepared and walked away without even an apology. Extremely overpriced, low quality food, with no presentation or preparation skills. Poor, bad attitude, uncaring wait staff and manager. DO NOT EAT HERE. There are better options in Baton Rouge. read more

Some of the strongest Margaritas in all of Baton Rouge. Many a drunken nights started out at Superior!! In nice weather, the porch is packed for happy hour but you can always find a friend to share a table or spare a chair. Food is always good and speedy. Great service from the wait staff. Our server, whose name was also Regina was excellent. Sweet personality and on point with customer service. Glasses refilled and always came back to check and see how the table was doing. The restaurant had a nice décor that seemed inviting. The food was ok, not a lot of meat on the brisket taco, but what I did have was flavorful , I just wish that I had more of it. The refried beans and rice that came with the meal was good. Not Mexican food at all. Well not go back, gave it a second chance. Starting of with the guac, got the freshly made one and no flavor at all, no salt, no spice, just blah. The chips ate not fresh either, taken from a bag. The melted cheese was ok. The tortilla soup had no flavor either. I ordered the superior enchiladas and the so called steak tasted like liver. No good. The red enchilada sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce, no flavor, no spice. The rice that came with the soup and enchiladas were cold and so were the beans. We waited over 30 minutes to have our order taken and to get our meal. The service was so so. Would not recommend to go there. I tried to find at least once good thing about it but could not find anything. read more
