The food here is good, but not great but 1. you can't ask for too much in Baton Rouge and 2. it's super popular and fun hangout.

Food was great, well prepared and well seasoned. Great salsa. Service was mediocre. My glass of water stayed empty most of the lunch.

I love this place. My wife and i had dinner there last night. Being from Texas we love good Tex Mex. i had their beef fajitas and they were really ggod and tender. By far the best Tex-Mex in Baton Rouge so far. Great cood, great atmosphere, and great service. I will definitely go back to this place. What a great, fun, friendly place! Chris is the manager and he is a really nice guy. He also develops some foods to offer and he tells my brother and I about them when we come in. The latest was red beans and rice. I asked for a sample and he went running back to the kitchen and brought us a small bowl; As they say in south Louisiana, " talk about good!". He also has his own special salad. When you go, ask for Chris and ask for "his" salad. I also had their "Baja Fish Taco" to prep myself for a trip to Cozumel. Superior Grill did have my favorite breakfast/brunch..... Until this Sunday when I arrived at 11:00 with 6 other friends and was told "we are not serving breakfast anymore". Since we were specifically looking for breakfast we had checked the breakfast hours before we arrived (until 2:00 on Sundays). When I told the waiter about their breakfast hours he replied that the kitchen had too many breakfast orders so we could only order lunch!!!! If we hadn't already ordered drinks we would have left. If I had wanted Mexican food, I would have went somewhere else. We wanted breakfast! You can't just decide on the fly that you aren't going to serve what your website and menu clearly states you are serving. It was highly disappointing. read more

My husband & I had lunch here yesterday, 6/15/15. This was our 2nd time eating here - the 1st being Cinco de Mayo 8 years ago. My 1st impression this visit was STINKY! The place reeked of stale/dirty mop water. We almost walked back out but decided to give it a try. We each chose a chicken taco salad & tea. There was not much chicken on the salad and there were lots of thick stalk ends of the lettuce which I had to pick around. The tortilla bowl was stale, rubbery & greasy. Love going to Superior Grill as far as I'm concerned the only Mecican food or drink in Shreveport, Baton Rouge or New Orleans.

If you love Mexican, (and Margaritas), then Superior is the place for you. It's not too far from almost anywhere in Baton Rouge, the food is a huge serving of authentic mexican food and the wait staff seems to be authentic Mexican people. (No, its not made with Patron) - If you want a Margarita, go at Happy Hour, or it should be called Reasonable Hour) between 4-6:30 weekdays. Also make sure you ask the waiter "does this cost extra?" - before he or she happily agrees to bring it to ya for a Charge. Grant it , Nothing is free. But the waiter should tell you if their is a charge for something your requesting. First off let me say that when it comes to Tex-Mex food I am jaded having eaten some of the best Tex-Mex cross the state of Texas. This place has an authentic feel to it from the moment I drove in the parking lot, in to the front door and all the way to our seats. One of the first things I use to judge a Tex-Mex place is by the chips and salsa - crispy chips and salsa with a nice spicy bite. So far so good! I ordered the pork tamale, cheese enchilada with rice and beans. The tamale was outstanding and it was stuffed full with shredded pork. The cheese enchilada was bland without the semblance of cheese. In addition the sauce that was put on the enchilada also bland and tasted like it was poured out of a tin can. My niece was also not overly impressed with her meal as she too was raised on some if the best Tex-Mex. If you need a Tex-Mex fix this place will suffice but otherwise do not think that this is what great Tex-Mex is all about. read more

This is the best Mexican food Baton Rouge has to offer. By comparison, we spent several years in Southern California, and there were plenty of really good authentic Mexican restaurants there. There is NO plasticy American cheese on the food here! I think the best thing on the menu is the Chile Relleno, and it's phenomenal! My son and I ate here this afternoon, while the service was good, the food was awful! I had fajitas with the Mesquite flank steak, it was not sliced, it was so stringy that my knife wouldn't cut it. The meat was tasteless other than the strong grilled flavor which gave it this weird bitter taste. For $13.50 I expect a superior meal. I truly have tasted better at Taco Bell! My son had a burrito for $9.50 and he said about the same thing I did, tasteless! I WILL NEVER eat here again. read more

They have the best taco's in Baton Rouge! I always like Thursday because of the live band too! It is always great to listen to some really good music! Me and my son were in the mood for Mexican food so we stopped at superior grill after hearing how amazing it was. I ordered grilled fish tacos & a margarita & my son ordered fajitas & fries. The fries and margaritas were great! If you don't like the mesquite flavor don't go to this place. They should have a no mesquite flavor option. read more

Amazing food. Sometimes you might get a waiter with very little English but they seem to do okay. I've never had a bad meal and you'll always get full. It can get a little rowdy on LSU game days, but its all pretty fun. While they are techinically "Mexican," from what I've heard from some of the staff and such, they are more venezualen and guatemalan. I love this restaurant. The quality and service is consistent and we always have a good time here. Favorites are the shrimp tacos, the crispy puff taco, blue corn stack quesadilla, and any and all fajitas! Superior has good food, but I'm giving them one star because of their awful service. I called in an order at 5:15. I got there at 5:45 and did not receive my order until 6:20. When I asked what took so long I barely got a "sorry". The guy at the bar walked by me about 10 times before he asked about my order, as if he didn't notice the fact I did not have my order after such a long time. He was basically ignoring me. So now I have cold food to take home. I have never had such bad service over a take out order and I can only imagine what it's like dining in. read more

Stopped in for lunch yesterday. Place was near full. Very loud atmosphere but that didn't bother me. Server took our order and food came out rather quickly. All entrees were lukewarm at best...which meant in about 5 mins it will be cold. Sadly, the taste was very bland. My daughters burger from the kids menu was the best thing on the table. 2 adults, 2 kids...$64 with tip. Overpriced to say the least. Lunch menu prices were too high for what u get. Mediocre Mexican food in a bland atmosphere. It is fine.

I gave Superior another try after many years. The margarita on the rocks is pre-mixed and poured out of a container. It was too sweet and overall lacked any flavor.... I did not enjoy it. The bartender started pouring it into a styrofoam cup. Why would I go out to eat and drink out of styrofoam? (By the way, this is at 3PM on a Saturday, not the raging Thursday nights I hear about.) At first, I requested a top-shelf margarita and they told me it was $14.50 and they use... Cuervo. No, thank you. The prices across the board at this mediocre restaurant are ridiculous. The salsa was bland and boring, the chips are not fresh they seem out of a bag. The only thing that was good was the quesadillas. It's really unfortunate because it's such a nice restaurant. There are so many small, easy changes they could make to make it memorable. Having good margaritas, chips, and salsa would be a start. We really wanted to like it, but I won't be back. read more
