I walked in for a try at their shooting range and was greeted by all available staff manning the floor. They answered every question I had with honesty and were patient with me (someone who does not know much about firearms), so I am extremely grateful for that. I was quite overwhelmed with their selection, even though I was not there to purchase any firearm lol, but as I've stated before the associate tending to me informed me about any gun I pointed to and answered all the questions I had. The building is clean and organized. The elevator was a nice touch as the range was a floor up and I would have dreaded taking the stairs. Went here three times to shoot and once to purchase ammo and when I went up the elevator the labels were on point in the ammo and safes room. Love the place great to relieve some stress. I'll try and get here once a month just so I can utilize my guns. Make sure that they're cleaned and oiled properly and then on occasion if they get something new in downstairs in the sales area nine times out of 10 they have one upstairs that you can try out and see if you like it and then if you like it, you can go downstairs and purchase it normally doesn't take that long to purchase a gun here or ammo. I know they do background checks and they're very thorough about that. I think the longest it's ever taking me for a background check was about an hour and a half really don't have that much to hide but I recommend always go here. Make sure you take the class if you're gonna get a concealed carry, always get the class I try and do the class every two years because loss change with every administration and halfway through a new administration the ruler bound to change over and all they keep everybody up-to-date on the rules and regulations as much as possible the concealed carry class I think is about $100-$200 or something like that. It's fairly easy. They take you through the motions to do the the laws the good beds and uglies and how to handle yourself. The only thing I wish is that they offered a concealed carry for women because we carry a little different than men and our reactions are a little different and where to conceal one is very different. So I had a meeting with the Bob's. Some will get that reference. If you are in the market I highly recommend going to any gun store to window shop and "try on" the gear to get the real feel. Bob's has a large assortment to choose from and the best part is that you can shop online and if available their website will have a little note saying"on shelf" if available. Depending on what you are looking for there is a good chance they will have it. Do they have everything? Well no and that is understandable because many gun shops seem to have their preferred brands. One of the things I noticed was that they do not carry any Springfield pistols but if you looking for an HK, Glock, or Sig you can find them here. On this particular day I went in to look for a specific Mossburg. It was not in stock and thats where the helpful staff let me know how to properly read their site as I thought the particular item I was looking to purchase was available. There were similar items which goes back to the window shopping and getting a feel. You can order items there and have it shipped to the store for pick up and the prices are very reasonable. When ordering a weapon some other sites charge a ridiculous fee but Bob's does not. No shipping fee and only $12 for the background check. They do sell used guns "consignment" so if you want them to sell your gun they will. I am not sure but I think Bobs has a Class 3 license which allows them to sell silencers, short barrel shotguns or basically any weapon regulated by the ATF. Overall a good experience and will be back in the near future. I have to to pick up what I ordered. Only issue is that parking can be a bit tight in there lot. read more

Like it says on the big sign out front, this is Bob's Gun Shop. They sell guns here, though I didn't see Bob today. They also have a reasonable pistol range upstairs. Only about 20 feet, but how much more accuracy do you expect to have with a handgun (don't answer that - Jerry Micukel for Team Smith & Wesson hit the target with a .380 pistol at 210 yards)? Only six bays on the range and with the concrete walls, it was really loud. But I burned a bunch of rounds with my two pistols and also shot my brother's two (I like mine better), shredding a good few targets. Yes, they sell targets but you're welcome to bring your own. Tip: Bring a roll of masking tape or a staple gun which makes putting up new targets a ton easier. They seemed disappointed that we only wanted to purchase range time. I had targets, ammunition, eyes and ears. And while they do rent (and sell) guns, mine is perfectly fine thanks. Don't forget to sweep up your brass! read more

Very neat store, old style set up but with a twist. I've been to hundreds of shops and this is the first 3 floor shop. Set in a old building you enter on the 1st floor and that's the retail shop, then safes and ammo are on the 2nd floor and the range is on the 3rd. This place is cool because it has a decent amount of firearms, however their ammo is scarce. Don't waste your gas coming here because they won't have the ammo you're looking for. The ammo they do have is priced well. Staff is pretty friendly and helpful if you need help with something. Staff will take the time to explain and be personal with what you need even if they don't have what they're recommending. 3 stars because their rifle selection isn't great and their ammo selection is garbage. So my husband asked to have a rifle fixed. After not hearing from anyone for 3 months we called and was told gunsmith isn't here we will have them call you back. Ok life happens and we put it on the back burner about 4 months after that called again still no answer of what was the status. Called again later that week same thing of we don't know I will have someone call you. After a year of them having the gun, I told my husband to go down there and pick it up because they have had ample amount of time to fix it. When asked why it wasn't even looked at the excuse was that they don't have any gunsmiths ok..... it would have been nice for someone to communicate all this to us. Very broad selection of firearms, knives, ammunition, and supplies. Their handgun selection is especially broad. All Glocks are now on the third floor, which is a little out of the way. Some used treasures appear occasionally, too. This local gem also houses a six lane shooting range (11 yards) with a wide array of rentals. The staff is always very friendly and helpful (ask them where they hide Scotty). I can't recommend it highly enough and only wish the shooting range was a little deeper. read more

First time weapon owner. Came to Bob's for ammunition. Went to ask about the best ammo for my weapon and explained I am inexperienced in choosing. Instead of helping we were just told what shelf but when another of the opposite race asked questions the man came from behind the counter to assist in anything that was needed. After finding out what to do online I made my choice and went to the counter. He opted to help the person that jumped in front of us instead of checking us out. Which is fine with me because I know the ropes. But I recently took a female friend there who was interested in a course because she lives alone and we were both disheartened by the coldness of the staff. I think Bob's will always hold a special place in my heart because it's where I first learned to fire a gun and actually fired one. I came down here when I met my husband and we first started dating and went on an after brunch date to shoot some guns! Real redneck stuff!! We also went with one of his roommates/coworkers. I had a lot of fun I'll admit. We did have to wait a while to get a chance to go into the range because there were a lot of people there but when we got in I had nothing short of a helluva good time. #Firesquadgoals ...? Lol. Anyway I've come back here one other time for the range with my husband. It was fun but I think the novelty wore off by the second round. My husband bought his first pistol from this shop I believe which he then replaced with a different one but they definitely have a wide array of weaponry if that's what you're into! Went in the store the other day looking for a magazine for my Chinese sks and the first guy showed me an ak-47 magazine and I said it's not a aka it's a Chinese sks model 56 and he looked at me like I was stupid. So I went and brought the sks in the store and a grey headed gentlemen looked at it and he did not have a clue so he took it to show someone else and can you believe instead of saying they did not know what a sks was they gave some lie about it having Chinese parts and it was illegal to own. These people are supposed to know about weapons instead they will lie to your face with some bull @#$%. I could not believe it took same gun to superior gun and pawn found my magazine hanging on the wall and the gun smith said I might have to do alittle adjustment and it should work fine . They where exactly correct here is a picture of a sks magazine for the so called illegal gun that Bob's gun shop said lies about. After spending multiple visits at the range, I quickly struck up a friendship with some of the staff who I was seeing whenever I'd come in. They are always friendly - always professional and always serious about the matter at hand. It was a no-brainer for me to purchase a membership at their range - and the AMAZING thing is I get to schedule when I want to go. Nothing feels better than walking past a big line of people waiting to go to the range to get set up in the lane reserved especially for you. Knowing that I can be in-and-out without waiting to or considering the crowd when I want to shoot is a huge plus to say the least. Recently, I had an issue with my firearm. Many employees over a few days immediately jumped in and dedicated their time and attention to troubleshooting the problem for me. We decided to send the gun to the manufacturer (bobs gunsmith even took a look at it for me as a courtesy, which was definitely an extremely generous gesture to say the least). The owner of Bobs Gunshop personally made sure that I received my firearm in the shortest amount of time possible. Their attention to their customers, friendly demeanor, knowledgeable staff, modern convenient shooting range, great location and wide selection makes Bobs Gunshop the "no-brainer" when it comes to anything fire-arm related in the 757. Just had my first bad experience at Bobs after shooting with my husband, brother and sister for years. I brought my nephew who never shot a gun. The range policy is 1 hour unless others are waiting. We arrived at 11:17 am (time stamp from a call with my husband), completed paperwork and rented a Sig 226 and Beretta plus bought ammunition. My receipt reads 11:28 am. I spent a while on the range showing my nephew how to safely handle a gun and to load ammunition. There was a rapid fire shooter on the range who was admonished on the PA system. By 11:53 am we heard a voice over the speaker saying we had 5 minutes on lane 2. The Sig jammed minutes prior, which my husband or brother (both ex military) would normally clear, but instead I asked for assistance. The man who helped us came and cleared the jam. He was visibly annoyed. Not too long afterward is when we heard 5 minutes left. We loaded our magazines to finish out the last of the ammunition. My nephew enjoyed his range time and is proud of his target; however, it was clear that a novice shooter or anyone who needs assistance is not wanted here. I never realized it since I'm always with my husband or brother. We were given barely 30 minutes for 2 customers with 2 guns. We usually shoot 2 boxes of ammunition, sometimes 3 with my brother but today with my nephew we had time for just 1 box. I'm not sure if the rude treatment is because I'm a woman, because I needed help or because I had a novice shooter with me...or all 3. We will head to Superior Pawn on Lishelle next time or Colonial Academy. read more

I just don't even know where to start!!! The customer service was beyond shitttty! Like far beyond! My husband and I came here to shoot at the range, we presented him with a card that gave us a free pass to shoot since we've purchased a firearm from them in the past. After presenting him with the card he rung us up, it wasn't until we were about to shoot that we realized he had gave us the wrong bullets and he had charged my husband when he was suppose to be free! So my husband went back to the front the guy said he couldn't take the bullets back! Which was just bs! We purchased the right bullets and his colleague said they'll issue a refund once we were done shooting. When we went back to the front about the refund the worker started being so rude getting smart, I asked to speak to his manager and he responded with "let's do this"! He calls his manager and the manger told him to give us a refund. He was very nasty throwing my id and things across the counter instead of placing it in my hand! Prior to having this incident he was explaining to my Husband & I how the two elder black gentlemen needed help filling out waivers who were before us & how he hates when "they" they don't know what to do! Like why have a f****** job if your going to do it poorly!? Soo distasteful!! The whole establishment! This was my first visit to Bob's Gun Shop and overall a pretty good experience. They have an indoor range on the 2nd floor where you can rent their guns to shoot or bring your own. The prices for ammo (50 rnds of 9mm-13.00), targets(.49) and range time (10.00) was reasonable. The guy employee was very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. However, I felt cramped on the shooting lanes/range and each bay should be separated by some type of bulletproof barrier, to prevent flagging by less experienced shooters. The workers in the range area were SUPER nice! I think people may say they're snotty because if you don't have experience or anyone WITH you to shoot, it's annoying...no one is there to show you how to shoot. That isn't the workers job. This seems like a great place to shop for guns with a huge selection, however I was disappointed with their customer service. The second start is for selection, otherwise this would be a 1 star review. Let me start by saying that my boyfriend and I are a heavily tattooed couple. We look professional and clean cut, because we are, and not like scumbags with jailhouse tattoos. We went in looking to buy a knife, and are very knowledgable about firearms and knives and had a general idea of what we were looking for, but wanted some guidance from a professional. Instead of being offered help, I had to walk up to a group of employees and ask. The employee seemed rather annoyed that I needed something and was very unenthusiastic to answer the few questions we had. I asked, "We are looking for a pocket knife under $100. Do you have any suggestions?" Employee just looked at us blankly. I went on to say "We don't want to waste everyone's time by looking at knives that are out of our price range" This guy seemed to have no knowledge of their knife selection, or knives in general. My boyfriend wanted a polymer handle knife (which is basic material and very common) and the guy said "What is that?" and we had to show him what we were talking about. The overall experience was very upsetting. I made a comment about how we weren't getting the service we deserved because we were heavily tattooed, but no one seemed to care. I first visited Bob's with some co-workers to pop off some rounds on their range. Overall, it looks nice, but parking was awful. Had to park two blocks away on a Sunday. The range was okay. I've been in better in Hampton Roads. Very small and the counter clerk seemed like an idiot. The guys downstairs seemed very smug...and as if I was taking up their time. I find this to be typical for all gun store I've gone into but still feel it necessary to mention. After shooting at the range I went back the first floor to sell them a handgun. It was a Taurus pt-22 which I got for 210. I was offered 80 dollars for this gun which is just sad as they sell them back for 259. I instead decided to place the gun on consignment to try to get more. The process was simple, and I placed the price at 180. After a month of not hearing anything on it, I went back to pick it up and try another store. Low-and-behold it sold three days prior! Great news, right? Would have been awesome had someone told me. But that's okay. The hard part is yet to come. Now comes the wait for my money. I have been waiting three weeks now for my check and have yet to receive anything. I have even gone as far as taking to Scott the owner, who stated that the check went out already....still haven't received anything. read more

This place reminds me of an old Paul Newman movie called "Fort Apache: The Bronx." Its located deep in the heart of what used to be a happening part of Norfolk but now ain't so happening. Hence the reason for the tall, sturdy fence enlosing the parking lot and a building that looks reinforced to withstand a direct hit or two from high explosive ordnance. The shooting range is up on the third floor and its like shooting in a shoebox. Its tiny but it gets the job done if you need to pop off a few handgun rounds. But first you have to get past the counter clerk who looks at everybody like they just stepped in dog shit. Dog shit also has more personality than this guy. The upside is I was able to take some friends from the UK here last year. Being British, they had never so much as held a weapon in their lives, which made shooting off a few hundred rounds the highlight of their Stateside vacation. read more

When we called the man state "you read it wrong". If that's not enough we decided to Check them out any way and when we got there they were a bit packed. We went upstairs to see how long is the wait. Pretty good selection. Friendly & knowledgeable about the weapons they carry. I like that they have a gun range upstairs along with everything else needed to make sure your weapon is secure & safe. If you purchase your weapon from here they give you 3 free visits to their gun range. Also they have where you can try before you buy. Just to make sure you like how your baby handles. Although that does depend on availability on what's upstairs. Their prices have gone up since I visited them last year & I was told they were a little low on 380 ammo which is why I got a 9mm.
