Evelyn was great with handling my fur baby Bentley, being that it was his first time there. I typically take him to PetSmart for grooming but wanted to try something more local. Bentley's hair was short so it didn't take too long before I picked him up. I dropped him off at 130p and he was done by 3pm. I asked for a round shape cut for his face and it was rounded but very choppy (like he didn't have any eyebrows. I asked for his nails to be cut and one was missed. It was also very sharp to the touch on all his nails. We'll give it another try and update our review then.

Superior Dog Grooming is the best place I've found in Sacramento. The owner, Evelyn, is very nice, helpful, and always works with my schedule. All the groomers are efficient and do an excellent job. I am very picky, but I've never had a single complaint. I'm grateful to have this place for my dog Bruno, and I truly recommend it!

We got a puppy toy poodle beginning November of last year. We had scheduled grooming to be done as soon as he got all his needed shots but had a bad experience for his first grooming at Petco. We went with another grooming service and although it was better, the staff that worked on him didn't seem all too happy and the cut looked very choppy. I was given information about 'Superior Pet Grooming' from a lady I met at a store who had a toy dog as well; I couldn't be happier! Evelin was amazing, kind and welcoming. I felt comfortable leaving our puppy with her. The place looked busy but happy and "alive". The dogs were ALL so adorable! When I picked up our puppy two hours later, he looked so cute. He got a puppy cut as we requested and his hair looked shiny and smelled delicious as well! They put a bandanna on him which was a sweet touch! I can honestly say that this is the place we'll be going for all our puppy grooming needs.

They had a change of ownership a while back and now their service is even better. I moved about 2 hours away and was worried about finding a good groomer for my miniature poodle. in Sacramento, I frequented Superior Pet and also Bath and Biscuit. I spent 3 years looking for a new groomer in the Lake Tahoe area without any luck. My poor girl has had some bad cuts. Needless to say, when I visit, I do my best to bring her for her grooming needs. Superior Pet's has been incredible with squeezing her in and taking great care of her. They do an excellent job and their prices are reasonable. For my 13lb mini poodle, they charge me $55.

Update 11/13/24: I've been taking my dog, Biko, to Superior Pet Grooming for over a year and a half now. Biko is an anxious dog, but he always seems to be content and happy when I come pick him. I love that they finish up quickly, so Biko doesn't have to wait in the crate a long time. Evelyn and the team do a wonderful job, and I always recommend them to others. Biko's most recent grooming was at the end of October, and his grandma said it was her favorite haircut he's had so far! Thank you Superior Pet!

After moving to Greenhaven I was so concerned about finding a groomer for my two furkids. So I went straight to Yelp to see what was around me. Although, there were a couple negative reviews that honestly read as an attack on the owner I decided based on the other 98% great reviews I would give it a shot. I have now been going to Evelyn for a couple years. Her level of patience and kindness is amazing. I have two little ones. My eldest Lia is not a big fan of groomers at all but every time she leaves Superior Pet Grooming she is always so happy and comes home to take a long nap after a day of pampering. My second kiddo was classified with a skittishcard at adoption from Front street. So he is always very untrusting of new people. But I will tell you Berkeley leaves wagging his tail and so happy. I am beyond grateful to have found a local business I can support and most important a place where my babies are happy to go to.

We are blessed to have this place just down the street. I know the photos don't do the work justice, but trust me Evelyn always does a superior job with great skill, a kind heart, and genuine love for the Animals in her care. She knows how anxious pets are to be groomed and always tries to get to them right away and call as soon as she's done. I know Scamp truly appreciates not having to wait in a crate for 4+ hours like at many chain groomers. We always try to shop local and put our money back into the community. During these times, every little bit helps the small business owner.

First time trying this groomer since it is local in the area and the Yelp reviews. I wasn't sure when first walking in. However, the owner was very nice. When I first made the appointment, I was really surprised to get in so soon. She said that the full groom appointment would take about 2 hours..and she was right. My black lab/boxer mix hates getting a bath, but she no longer dreads bathtime thanks to superior pet grooming. My dogs get the wash and dry service with a nail trim, usually ready for pick up in an hour or so. They even clean up my little corgi buns when they need a trim. Both dogs come home looking and smelling great, for a reasonable rate. read more

If I Could Give More Stars, I Would -- The Best Groomers Ever Superior Pet Grooming absolutely lives up to their name. If I could give them 5+ stars, I would without hesitation. I adore everyone who works there -- it genuinely feels like walking in to see friends, not dropping off my dogs for an appointment. My doodles LOVE it here. And I don't mean the "nervous tail wag" kind of love... I mean they run to the door like they're arriving at their favorite place on earth. That alone says everything. Dogs don't fake enthusiasm, and mine treat Superior Pet Grooming like it's Disneyland. The owner is wonderful -- warm, patient, and truly gifted with animals. You can tell she loves what she does, and my dogs absolutely adore her right back. I've never had a single issue with either of my doodles, and that's saying something because doodle coats can be... a journey. Every cut is consistent, clean, and exactly what I ask for. They listen, they care, and they treat my dogs like their own. The whole team is kind, professional, and just genuinely good people. Took Lil Lucie in for her first grooming in years. The shop is small but friendly and fast. It took about an hour and a half from drop off to pickup. I think they pretty much trim all the dogs similarly. Lucie's coat was very short but she needed a good cut and now it grow out and look healthier. The fee was only $60 which is about 1/2 what others are charging. read more

I'm not one to write reviews, but after seeing some of the 1 star reviews on here I felt the need to share my experience. I've been to bad groomers, and Superior Pet is absolutely NOT one of them. I've been taking my Bernedoodle here for 3 years and Evelyn is a fantastic groomer: responsive, fast (typically takes 3 hours to groom my dog), she gives a great cut (my dog gets a lot of compliments after being groomed), and she always includes a cute bandana. I HIGHLY recommend Superior Pet Grooming. read more

Evelyn was perfect with my 100lb German Shepherd who is nervous and terrified of the world. She wasn't afraid of all the hair nor her tremendous size! This was after I called several groomers who didn't 'work' on dogs bigger than 30lbs. Thank you Evelyn for doing a great job and helping large breed dogs and their owners! read more

I have taken my large dog to Superior for baths and nail trims over the last four years and have always received the best service. The owner is friendly, courteous, and has a good rapport with my dog. I am very particular about where I'll leave my girl but have no hesitation leaving her here. The facility is clean and the workers are friendly. She comes home fluffy and smelling good with professionally trimmed nails. Her visits to Superior are her spa days. I absolutely love this groomer!!! She does quick yet high quality work. My Shih Tzu's love her and always come back looking AMAZING!!! She cuts them according to what their breed should look like. This tells me that not only does she do quality work but that she cares about the pets and their owners. She remembers my name and my dogs names... and is always willing to work with my schedule. The people are courteous and prompt. They got my two dogs in very quickly! The prices are reasonable too but despite asking me how I wanted my dog's hair cut - he still came home completely shaved and not cute or fluffy as I had requested. This is the 2nd time they shaved my beautiful little dog down to his skin. Hence the 4 stars. read more

I take my maltipoo here every 4 -5 months and they do amazing. We get a summer cut with a Mohawk and price is so reasonable. My dog has never been cut or come home looking crazy. He gets excited when we get there:) the owner is soo sweet and always gets us in quickly:) read more

The bath and nail trim was only $28 for Max, who is about 78 pounds. I'm just giving you the weight because I know a lot of places charge by weight and that will give you an idea for your own doggie. My wife brought our extremely small toy poodle here after we recently moved to the area. We were hoping to find a groomer closer to home, and everything seemed fine when she dropped her off. We specifically asked for a teddy bear style cut, with her body left long and fluffy. We also explained that there were a few areas where she may have been matted and made it clear that we wanted to be informed if that was going to affect the haircut. What happened afterward is honestly unbelievable. When we picked her up, she had been shaved down almost completely. This wasn't a slight variation from what we requested. She looked completely different from what we specifically asked for. And here's what really bothers me. WE WERE NEVER CALLED!!! If she was too matted to safely leave her hair long, or if she was difficult to groom, then CALL US. Give us the opportunity to make that decision. Instead, someone at the shop apparently decided to completely change the service without our knowledge or approval. I was also told that our dog was "fighting" the groomer while being brushed. She's an XS toy poodle, so if there was genuinely a problem handling her, that should have been communicated to us immediately. You don't wait until the dog is finished, shave her down, and then casually explain afterward why you did something completely different. She was there for around three and a half hours, and for that amount of time and money, I expected an actual grooming service not for someone to essentially shave her down and send her home. To make matters even more frustrating, she didn't even smell particularly clean afterward. She still smelled like the bath my wife had already given her at home. So at that point we're left wondering what exactly we paid for. I'm not upset because the haircut wasn't "perfect." I'm upset because we weren't listened to and we weren't given a choice. If the requested haircut wasn't possible, we should have been told BEFORE they proceeded. That's basic customer service. My wife was devastated when she saw her. I was angry because our dog was left looking nothing like what we had discussed, and the entire situation could have been avoided with one simple phone call. This was a complete failure in communication and professionalism. We trusted this business with our dog and expected them to communicate with us if there was a problem. Instead, they made the decision themselves and left us to deal with the result. We're currently waiting to hear from the owners because I genuinely want to see how they're going to address this. At this point, I would not recommend this groomer to anyone who actually cares about getting the haircut they specifically requested for their dog. Very disappointing experience, very poor communication, and absolutely not worth what we paid.

I clearly stated that this was my puppy's first grooming appointment and that he still had not received his rabies vaccine. Once again, I was assured that it was not an issue. However, when I arrived for the appointment, I was turned away because my puppy didn't have a rabies vaccination. This was incredibly frustrating because I had already made special arrangements at work, took my lunch break later than usual, and coordinated with my daughter to pick up the puppy after his appointment. If this is your policy, that's completely understandable--but I should have been told that from the beginning, especially after asking twice. Instead, I wasted my time, rearranged my day, and left feeling very disappointed. Better communication and consistency with customers would have prevented this entire situation.

I was doing my dog grooming at this place before, because they are very close to my house, I took my dog to there for only one time, when I went to pick him up, I didn't feel the big difference, so I stop to go to here. Superior Pet Grooming did such a wonderful job with my dog, Sophie! She has separation anxiety and needs a little extra attention around her eyes, and they handled her with such care. TDLR: Bad experience basically beginning to end. Worst $150 I've ever spent. Biggest regret in…read morerecent memory. Wish I could rewind time and go to Petco instead. My sweet, beautiful, well behaved golden retriever did not deserve this. Before service: bad. The groomer got duped by a Google Maps sponsored ad or something and ended up on the wrong side of town, then acted like it was somehow my fault until I think they realized their own mistake and showed up at our actual address without making another comment on it. By the time she arrived the groomer, Dana, was in a bad mood. I can completely understand being frustrated by her own mistake, but I did not appreciate her bringing that energy to my door. It immediately made me anxious about the appointment. I tried to quickly run through the parts of the service that were important to us be done/not done/how/tips about my dog, but she immediately cut me off saying "I have her notes" and then turned and walked away with my dog. I spent the next 45 minutes extremely nervous about the appointment, unsure of whether we were getting the service we were needing and worried about how she was treating my dog given the bad mood/attitude she was in. At several points I considered going out to knock on the van and just take my dog back. Now, the service itself: also bad. 1. She absolutely butchered my golden retriever's trim. Her leg feathers were cut way too short, and are uneven and clumpy. What she did to my dog's butt feathers is criminal. They are extremely short, jagged, and choppy. You can literally see the uneven, choppy, alternating scissor lines. All she needed was them to be rounded and evened out a little, a slight trim, and instead she got a terrible rough chop that made me embarrassed to take her to daycare. 2. She was returned absolutely DRENCHED in dog perfume. If I had known that was even part of the service I would have said to leave it out completely, but it was not mentioned. She came in smelling like a 12 year old boy who just discovered Axe body spray. Extremely overpowering, just WAY too much. 6 days and a river swim later and it is STILL overpowering when you snuggle her. 3. Her ears were absolutely not cleaned at all, which IS listed as part of the service. A quick peak and I could immediately see the groomer didn't touch inside her ears, which is a pretty important part of grooming a golden retriever given their floppy ears. Luckily, I clean her ears regularly so I can do it myself. That's also how I know she doesn't fight having her ears cleaned, so I know it wasn't a matter of not being able to. I paid this groomer to do it and she clearly didn't. In the end, I paid the invoice. I also regret doing that. I was hoping by paying it would be clear when I reached out unhappy with the service and experience they would understand my concerns were about the groomer, not some money grab. Instead, once they had my $150 they ignored my message about how poor our experience was. I wish so badly I had never even heard of this company. I feel bad for my dog, embarrassed of how they left her looking and smelling, and very upset that I paid an atrocious amount of money for the service we received.
