The place where our ski and snowboard season always starts, gear tuned, rented in a relaxed vibe instead of mountain chaos. This season I bought an Obermeyer ski jacket for my husband as a holiday gift. The man who helped me has been working there since I started skiing in the 1980s. That kind of local loyalty is rare. His advice was thoughtful, unhurried, and focused on making sure I was happy with my decision. My husband loves it. Products are solid and well curated. Service sets Pelican apart. Knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in getting it right. This is the kind of shop that has a legacy and understands its customers. Shops like Pelican are part of the fabric of a community. They are where families return year after year, where kids grow up skiing, and where experience is passed along quietly and consistently. You leave better prepared, better supported, and excited for the season ahead. Grateful this place is still here and still doing it right.

He couldn't make it for the fitting but the store said they have his info. from the previous rental so I just provided with the receipt. They gave him the same size but different boots. The first hour it started bothering his ankles and sat out and didn't want to go back. It turned out, the binding strap was worn out and would not stay tight. Binding strap would loosen with any pressure from the boot. That's a major safety issue. So I ended up renting again at the resort. I told the store about it when I returned them but they didn't do anything about it. Lessons learned from my end. I thought the store would comp me for it since the boots weren't used but I got nothing.

(This was a few months ago so the details could be a bit iffy.)…read more This was a very impromptu trip and everything at Edge of the Woods makes doing that easy. Head to the website, book the date & time you want and you're done. www.watergapadventure.com/river-trips A few things worth noting: They offer multiple trip lengths. The standard 4-, 6- and 10-mile trip (Smithfield to Portland) are all booked generically and then when you get there you tell them what you want to do. All pricing is the same which believe me compared to others companies, that's very different - in a good way. They do offer two other longer trips but those require calls to the main office I assume to assess river conditions; your own competency and shuttle availability. The main office in Delaware Water Gap is very easy to find and there was plenty of parking on a quiet post-Labor Day Monday. You check in, you're handed a laminated map, life jacket and given a brief route explanation and then you're off in the van. One problem arose and it was kind of a PIA but it was worked around. Most companies have different types/sizes/models of kayaks and quite often, will ask you what you prefer. Not here. When we left the office, the guy driving didn't say a word to me until we get to Smithfield Beach to unload. He had a few kayaks pre-loaded in the carrier but definitely did not look at them before we left. One of them had a broken foot pedal that he said couldn't be used, another was very much designed for a smaller individual (i.e. if you're taller and/or taller & larger it ain't happening safely) which only left two tandem models. Using a tandem as a single individual is not the end of the world but especially when the seats are still left in the two person configuration (i.e. one front and one back versus the rear one being placed more towards the middle), it's a PIA to maneuver the craft and you are paddling harder to get the job done compared to a single. The scenery along the route was decent. You could see a bit of the Shawnee Resort and Golf Course, an old stone bridge abutment in the middle of the river, under and along 80 and then when you get into the Water Gap itself with the high cliff sides. Very picturesque. Once you go under the old train viaduct in Portland, you give the office a call for the shuttle to meet you at the out point which is at the Portland Pedestrian Bridge. The whole experience was about four hours door to door to cover the ten miles on the water plus the shuttle to & from the pick up and drop off points. Lots of nice scenery, due to the low water level there wasn't much in the way of current except for the area around viaduqt in Portland and even that wasn't bad. I'm not a big fan of the equipment here but I wouldn't let that deter me from coming back in the future for one of their northern longer trips.

I wanted to send a note regarding my recent experience with your service department…read more I brought my bicycle in for repair and was quoted approximately $220 plus tax to repair the shifter and chain, along with the recommendation that the handlebar tape be replaced. When I asked about the timing, I was told there were 12 bicycles ahead of mine and that it would take 10 days before the work could be completed. I was also informed that if I paid an additional $100, my bicycle could be moved up the service queue and completed sooner. This would have brought my total cost to roughly $350. Instead, I took my bicycle to a bike shop in Hamilton, where the repair was completed promptly for $50. I appreciate that this experience helped me explore other options and ultimately save approximately $300. Unfortunately, after being a customer since your days in South Brunswick, I have decided that I will no longer be shopping at your store or using your service department. I am sharing my experience so that others can make informed decisions when choosing where to have their bicycles serviced.

I arrived to this shop to pick up the item and noticed that they share the space with a residential tenant. Didn't know this at first, but you can park in the back of the house, but the space is limited. You can also park on the street or the quick check across the street as well. Just lookout at your car while your in the store to make sure you don't get towed. The person who was helping me was Chris and he was a cool person to talk to about new firearms coming out. He seemed to be very knowledgeable about the business. The buying process was quick as I knew what I was looking for. I was able to test it by holding it and looking the accessories and all. The background check took a few hours and opted to comeback later when they called me. I only lived 25 minutes away so it wasn't bad to drive back. I ate lunch while waiting for the phone call. Overall, its a nice shop but would recommend calling them before to see if they have the the items in stock. Also, if they don't they can special order the items as well. My only grips is the parking and the background which took long. I guess its not anything to do with them.

They shipped it without the cover and with no protective packaging in the box, and then REFUSED to ship the missing cover and would only refund the price of the cover not ship what I ordered (that requires a weapon purchase). They acknowledge that it was their error that they omitted the cover, and they then had the audacity to tell me to buy ANOTHER weapon ($300+) in order to get them to ship the $6 item they forgot to ship. I asked 3 times in writing to make sure that they understood I did NOT want a refund, just wanted them to complete the original order, and they ignored it. So you can be assured that IF they make a mistake, they will not make it right - and that tells you a lot about a business. I'll take my money elsewhere in the future.
