If I could give Rymes / Superior Plus Oil and Propane negative 10 stars, I would. This company is completely unreliable and downright irresponsible. They came out and only partially filled our tank, and then when we ran out during an emergency, they abandoned us -- in the middle of a freeze, with a child in the home. What followed was unbelievable. I made five separate calls over the last two days (yesterday and today) trying to get help. Three different times, we were promised** someone would come out. Three promises. Zero follow-through. Instead, we got nothing but delays, excuses, and the runaround while our home was without heat during dangerous weather. And after all of that, they finally told us we were on a 10-day wait list -- during a FREEZE EMERGENCY. This is not just poor customer service. It was rescheduled literally 3 different times. I use my propane to feed my kids and bathe them. UPDATE: Sunday, 9:00 AM Feb 8, monitor said 13%, 31 gallons, subzero coming for night. No one answers but the answering machine kept repeating the same "SERVICE" message for an hour...twice. Gave up. Sleepless night. Monday, 8:00 AM monitor says 13%, 31 gallons??? Huh! Furnace burns NO GAS???? Called twice beginning at 8:00 AM. 1 hour/20 minute wait and promise to call back after 'I talk to the dispatcher' but 'you have 13%. Hey there, hold on that was the SUNDAY morning reading!!! OH!! I see.' Waited for call back until 11:00. 1 hour/30 minutes later---New rep. Put on hold. 'dispatcher is busy so will call back. Yup, but I've heard that one before.' First rep finally calls at 4:00 to say they'll deliver Tuesday, some time, but you have 13% in the tank.' (Obviously, we must. have magic heat that doesn't require fuel.) Asked why they have a monitor that doesn't reflect reality. 'Uh, I'll have them check that.' By 5:00 PM the monitor was miraculously healed, Praise the Lord! 10%, 24 gallons. If you believe that was accurate at 5PM, I have a bridge you really want to purchase. Another very cold night expected. Looking forward to frost and icicles inside my home. And yeah, we turned the thermostat down to conserve. Another sleepless night expected. Still have my attorney on speed dial. PS: Found a local provider. This company started automatic delivery for those on a budget plan stating they were monitoring tanks. Whoever manages or set up the monitoring program needs to be fired. I had gotten down to 8% level on 2/6/2026 and was told a ticket was put in for fuel delivery. The representactive who services my zip code 22079 was clueless when I asked what triggered a delivery on their automatic delivery program. On 2/15/2026 I ran out of propane and called for an emergency delivery. Three hours later I received a text that they would be making delivery today. Still waiting. I know Superior doesn't care about their customers. I've been a customer for 12 years mostly with Quarles, who I never had a problem. First winter with Superior and I run out. I deeply regret the takeover of our local Osterman Propane Company (Sunderland, MA) by SuperiorPLUS Propane. Osterman was dependable, honest, and reliable. SuperiorPLUS [?InferiorMINUS?] is the opposite. They delivered half of what I needed a month ago days late. I paid my bill and ordered more a full two weeks ago, which failed to arrive without explanation today. I'm a 78 military veteran who, with my wife, a disabled senior, would soon be left with without heat if it wasn't for our wood stove. Their drivers told me that everything in their operation is stripped to the minimum. In short, I feel that SuperiorPLUS Propane is behaving in a criminally negligent fashion with callous disregard for their customers' health, safety, comfort, and peace of mind. Add to that disregard for our property should our water pipes freeze in our homes. Stay away from them. read more

Canceled accounts two different times and started with new local company and guess who does the terrible customer service? Terrible service from Superior plus again! 6 months of $573 bill and still not resolved after dozens of calls!!! They aren't worthy of even the one star, but that's the lowest allowed! How much I miss Rymes and their services before they were bought by this lazy and slow service company. We worked with Rymes for over a decade. What a wonderful company. They were so reliable, every single professional was extremely knowledgeable, experienced with an outstanding customer service. Since Superior Plus Propane took over, there is NOTHING SUPERIOR about them! It immediately downgraded services and care for their customers. We have a brand new furnace that we bought with them and it has already stopped working 4 times!!! There is a part that needs replacement and NOTHING IS DONE!!! My husband has been calling them to ask when the part is going to arrive but they NEVER CALL OR CARE TO UPDATE US on when the part will arrive. Two weeks ago our furnace failed on the weekend and we had to pay close to $600 for a third party company to come!!!! PLEASE BUILD YOUR CASE AND GET A LAWYER! That's my next step if they don't show up to our house in the next few days with the part they know all along it needs to be replaced. I am done paying hundreds of dollars for a quick fix. My gasket in my boiler return pipe cracked and leaked water. Called Superior to fix it (mid/late December), Danny from Musco (Superior) came and took one of two nuts off. He then bent the pipe and ran away. Wife watched him bend it and asked why he did that. He replied, "Makeke it look like I knew what I am doing". Later, got a call from Alex(supervisor) from Superior stating I needed a Heat Exchanger or a new system. What I only needed originally was a new gasket. Now, with Danny bending the pipe, a new pipe is needed. Not just gaskets, but a new pipe also.doesn't I called Superior and they refuse to pay for the new pipe ($200). Imagine damaging something, running away, misdiagnosing to upsell me, and then denying any blame for their work. I can't in the future go with a company that doesnt stand behind its work. read more

Being a boomer, I rarely write reviews but, in this case, I'm going to make an exception. In short Superior Plus sucks a big one. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS. I was signing up two houses that I own, one of which is the residence of my 94-year-old mother. Spoke with the salesman on the phone, told him tank size, propane appliance at both locations, and the amount of propane each address used per year. They indicated that we would both have to sign affidavits regarding the fact that we own the tanks. Bit of a PITA but ok, I'll do it. They told me that the driver would bring the affidavit to both residences, but I told them to email them to me for signature as I don't have the time to be running back and forth between houses. Got a lot of resistance from a chick named Amber but eventually she relented and had a colleague email the affidavits which also doubled as a service agreement. I quickly reviewed the agreement and found that it was a take or pay contract requiring that we each use 400 gallons per year, otherwise we were required to pay for 400 gallons even though my 94-year-old mother only uses 100 gallons AND THEY WERE TOLD THAT. Pretty sleezy scumbags to attempt to slip the fact that you were committing to 400 gallons without disclosure on the phone by both the salesperson and Amber. Needless to say I cancelled both appointments and won't be a new customer of Superior plus. EVERYONE, rather than post on Yelp, call your State Regulators like I am and file a complaint, it has way more affect than yelp. Caveat Emptor (Latin for "let the buyer beware") read more

Superior Plus Energy has terrible customer service. Several times, when I have called for service, the phone just rings, no one answers. Other times when I have called they told me I couldn't speak with service, the receptionist had to send them an email! They do not honor their service contract; we had one and an expensive part, which was covered, went bad and they claimed it was not covered but it was. When I pointed this out they said we hadn't done enough maintenance on the system but that was not true, we had had a cleaning by an oil technician who was not part of Superior. When I pointed that out they said the part that went bad was ruined because of a water leak due to a valve in the system but this was also covered by their contract. Again, they said it was because we weren't maintaining the system but that was not true. I finally asked for a refund of the service contract amount and they never responded. When the original expensive part went bad the technician, and then customer service, said it would be a full day job and cost at least $1,500. My plumber came and said it would take him one hour to fix. I ordered the part online, a Taco switch, for $180, so we solved the problem for $300. Immediately dumped Superior Plus Energy, should have done it 2 years ago. read more

This may be the most shady business I've ever dealt with. They are at 22 Rowley Street in Winsted Connecticut. Avoid this business at all costs! Superior Plus Energy supplies both propane and oil. I selected Superior Plus at the time of my closing in February to make things simpler inasmuch as the previous owner had used this company. That was a mistake! I purchased the propane that was in the existing tank to save myself a few headaches. Instead I have caused myself an enormous migraine! Over the summer Superior Plus took it upon themselves to create a ticket and come to my home to deliver oil without my ordering it. I have no oil account with Superior Plus, only a propane account! I was getting ready for work when I discovered that a serviceman was starting to pump oil into my tank. I stopped him at 40 gallons. I did not want this oil, nor had I budgeted for this oil! I'm on a limited income and cannot afford to pay for other people's mistakes! Since this time Superior Plus has harassed me repeatedly with bills first for collecting payment for the oil that they made a mistake and delivered, and now they've switched it to propane. Now they're threatening me about suspending my propane account! Now I have never gotten a propane delivery from them! I bought the contents of the tank at my home at my closing, so I consider that to be mine. Now they want to ruin my credit over their own negligent error! It is their mistake and they should eat the cost of the oil that they delivered. I told him to go ahead and take it back, but they will not. A woman who I've spoken to from Superior plus, Cindy, cannot understand that I won't just pay for something I did not order and did not want. She thinks that I should pay for the oil that they made the mistake of delivering here. If I had ordered it I would gladly pay my bill, as I pay all my other bills. But the point here is that it is their mistake and not mine and it's the principle of the thing. save your sanity and your good credit rating and go with another company rather than these shysters on Rowley Street. read more
