We couldn't wait to go to this Swap-meet today. We are from out of town and this swap meet was one of the reasons we visited Sparks. It was really easy to find and we arrived at 8:05 AM. We pulled up to the booth and paid 50 cents each to get in. We pulled into the parking and realized we were the only ones there. We got out of our car and walked toward where the vendors were supposed to be. There was only about 5 people set up with junk and about 5 more that were barely unloading their trucks. What a rip off! Why don't people that are supposed to be selling arrive early enough to set-up? Or just say it opens at nine so at least maybe more that 5 people will be set up. Don't waste your time on this crappy swap meet! read more

Perfect date night at the drive in movies! I have never been to one before and this one did not disappoint. We came to see the new little mermaid movie as it was significantly cheaper than the movie theatre. We got here an hour before the movie started as recommended on the website and glad we did because this place filled up QUICK. The way the parking lot is set up, any spot is a good spot. They have multiple screens playing different movies at the same time. The sound is played through the radio if your car so you need working speakers. They have on site snack bar with all the movie theatre essentials. We got food prior to coming and were able to bring in anything we wanted. Very kid friendly place (alcohol sold here is a plus). We will be coming back often. read more

I'm a Garage Sale/ Flea Market junkie, always love digging through rusty gold. This is a great guys flea market, if you work with tools or enjoy tinkering on the weekends you can find a lot quality tools down here at a really fair price. Anything from wrenches and ratchets to makita and dewalt power tools and batteries and chargers and lots of them!! Great place to spend an hour haggling and getting some good deals and maybe grab a few street tacos off the taco truck. Anybody who talks bad about this flea market must not like tools because if you do it's a fun place to look around, and don't be afraid to wheel and deal , remember...... the more you buy the better the price and there are dozens of dealers selling the same things so walk around and ask em how much and figure out the baseline prices and then find the guys that are willing to go a little lower, the regular dealers with dozens of tables tend to be firmer on prices , I find that the guys selling out on the edges are more flexible. There is kind of a main drag where all the regulars sell every Sunday and it's pretty easy to figure out , not many deals to be had with the regulars. Work the outer edges and corners and the people with less inventory for better prices , the guys with tons of everything are usually asking top dollar and the guys who have their stuff in boxes and tubs instead of on tables are way cheaper. read more

Oh the flea market... Be prepared to be transported to another place. Filled with music, fruits and vegetables, tamarind candy, a parking lot full of yard sale like stands, and the best damn taco truck in town...El Gordo... El Rancho Swap Meet, AKA, the Flea Market is 'The place to be' on a Sunday morning in my opinion! ... (With an emphasis on morning! It's not as crowded) My first trip to this magical place was Easter Sunday with my BFF Sara, raving about how amazing the place is. The music was fun, the electronic bull bucking and the whole place was alive, thriving with people. I have since become addicted, making a return appearance to every single swap meet since then! I can't get enough! I have a system down... We start by walking through all the sale lots. People out there selling ALL KINDS of things. We usually find some old movie we haven't seen in decades, or stumble across new toys for our son... We happened across a brand new black and decker children's work bench retailing for 50$ everywhere else...walked away with it for 7$!!!! He LOVES it!! That was such a steal... Then we make our way over to the fruits and vegetables... Like a farmers market, the Flea Market always has some really cool things. I came across a Durian fruit and tried it! That was quite the opportunity... (As I have only seen these fruits on food network television shows haha!) After getting some fruit/Veggie/ or nuts of some kind... It's time for candy! The candy stand is WORTH it. I usually get tamarind everything... And some Lucas/Mango suckers. I can't get enough of their little jelly cups too... Hmm candy... Finally, we finish our day at the Flea Market with tacos from El Gordo Taco Truck. I've looked them up on every platform... and I just can't find them. I don't think they're on Yelp themselves and I don't think they even have a Facebook page because I have failed in every attempt to find anything on them! Sigh. That being said... They have THE BEST fricken tacos in town.. The ones I like the best, I can't pronounce. Or spell... Champichanos maybe???? I know, that's wrong... But they'll know what you mean... Asada Tacos with Chorizo and Nopales... And the grill is stationed right outside the truck filled with meats, peppers and cactus...It's my literal heaven! The guy manning the grill hands me a grilled jalapeño for my five 'champ' tacos, I add cilantro, onion, hot sauce and grab some limes... Get a horchata from inside the concession area...and I'm in actual taco truck heaven... These guys really have it down. Apparently they park on terminal sometimes... Just look for a big orange taco truck!! (If you find this truck anywhere other than the swap meet on a Saturday or Sunday... You've found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow you lucky little devil you...) I would actually say that sometimes, I get myself up out of bed Sunday Morning with the Tacos as my reason why because I can't ever find their truck anywhere else!! Thanks to El Rancho Swap Meet, Sunday-Family Day at the Flea Market is now my husband, son and I's favorite thing to do together. We look forward to it and those tacos every weekend. read more

20 years ago I saw a green glass Giraffe. 2 weekends in a row I asked about that Giraffe. Each time the seller said 20 dollars. I looked sad and kept going. On the third weekend visit I got there late. The man with the Giraffe saw me and said " Hey, come get this Giraffe...5 bucks". I was beside myself with joy. I brought home abd looked closely at that Giraffe. It was covered in some crazy green paint. I started to peel that garrish paint off and underneath was an absolutely gorgeous 50s style piece of art. read more

First of all weekends at the swap meet are great. I get so much things for such great deals! I found a North Face jacket for $15 once and it was worth like $300. I've found vintage Levi's to Carhartt and Vintage shirts and jackets! Definitely worth going. The drive in movie theater I've gone too since I was a kid watching it in the bed of my uncles truck every Friday was incredible definitely worth taking a date or the family to these you get 2 for the price of 1 movie! Can't beat the bargain and the snack bar is the same as the movies too (maybe more fresh) lol the service is nice too! read more

Maybe I'm biased because I grew up loving garage sales and flea markets. The El Rancho Swap Meet is like a mini-vacation for me every time I wonder through those gates. The best day to go is Sunday when most of the vendors are participating. The cost is .75 per person on that day. Parking is self serve in any spot and you just walk over to the swap meet. Right away you are greeted with favorite, loud and often boisterous music of the people selling as well as aromas of fresh Carne Asada on the grill from street trucks. My kid's personal favorite - the mechanical bull is also a regular next to the food booths. Wander past this and you will find several token booths full of pre-packaged items made overseas selling for way too much, ie; socks, cheap shoes and phone cases selling for $25.00 (you can get the same ones on-line for $5.00). We always walk past these now and go to the good stuff. The "good stuff" are all of the booths ran by folks who scavenge around at yard sales or purchase storage units at auction and then bring it here to sell for profit. There are no limits to what you can find on good days. Tons of tools, books, antiques, decor, and more. We have found game systems, guitars, lawn mowers, furniture etc., etc., etc.,!!!!! Some days are hit and miss and some days are a solid gold mine. Every time I go we have a blast and spend around 2 hours just walking around hunting for treasures. They have pretty clean bathrooms and if you get thirsty they have regular water/soda inside the snack booth. I can't give it 5 stars because I've never been to another one so I can't compare. Oh yeah - last minute tip - don't go until 10:00 or 11:00. If you go at 8:30 or 9:00 half the vendors are not there yet. I think they like to sleep in. read more

After living in Reno/Sparks for 13 years, I finally broke down and visited the El Rancho Flea Market, located @ the Sparks El Rancho Drive-In location. I hadn't been to a flea market in nearly 20 years, the last one being in L.A. most likely. Between the neighborhood and the swap meet itself, El Rancho almost felt like East L.A. to me. While this will scare many people off, I found it to be a nostalgic blast from the past. That said, this is probably the smallest flea market I've ever been to, much smaller than any swap meet in Cali--there were MAYBE 50 stands/vendors at most when we visited today. Once summer comes, there'll probably be more selection--also I heard that Sunday is bigger than Saturday. Smaller scale means lower admission--50 cents on Saturday, 75 cents Sunday! The sign said kids under 4 are free, but they didn't charge me to bring in my 10 year old son...major cheapskate bonus points already... As with most swap meets/flea markets, you have to browse through lots of useless junk to find the actual deals. This ain't Beverly Hills, so if the sight of dusty useless junk, or dusty useless people offends you, I wouldn't recommend it. If you're willing to dig and look around awhile, you can find some decent bargains. I found an uncut DVD of American Psycho, like new condition, for $4. I also found a CD by the old punk band Flipper for $2. My son bought an old PS1 game for $5. They have LOTS of used and new video games here, I even saw some original Nintendo cartridges and a shitload of controllers, including what looked to be a couple of original Atari joysticks. You can haggle with most of these guys too, which is really cool. Just take a minute to check your discs for scratches (and that they're not bootlegs) and you're good to go. So I have a VERY old boom box that refuses to play any burned CD's, and sometimes even store-bought CD's because the laser is wearing out. Yes, I know I'm archaic by not being Mr. Ipod (yet) but I still like buying CD's because I like to have the original packaging, liner notes, etc. (Records are even better, heh heh). After spotting a fairly clean but old-looking Aiwa that the lady is asking $35 for (NO WAY), and glancing at a couple pretty beat-up looking boxes that looked they were from the late 80's, I came across a very clean TEAC "Micro Hi-Fi" CD/CD-R/MP3 compatible system with detachable speakers. It looks like it's in pretty good shape, but it's wrapped up in a shitload of shrinkwrap, probably so someone more gullible will think that it's actually brand new. Looks clean though, no scratches and it looks like it actually might be from the last decade or so. The guy wanted $25 for it. I asked him if I could test it out, but he said the stand didn't have any power. Hmmm (at this point I'm looking at the extension cords nearby, planning my next move). Another guy walks up and asks about a laptop. Vendor: "It doesn't work." Guy: "Well, what if I want to buy it anyway? It might not cost that much to fix." I'm thinking, OK, the guy just told you it doesn't work. Why the hell would you want to take the chance, and do I want to gamble on the stereo? So the guy offers $35 for the laptop, which the vendor gladly accepted. I offer $20 for the stereo, the vendor is resisting, "no man, it works, you can bring it back if it doesn't, I'm here every week." YEAH heard that before buddy. Me: "If I can't test it now, I'll take a chance on it and give you $20, no more." Vendor (looking at his wife, speaking to her in Spanish): "All right, she says it's OK." HELL YEAH sweet ass little system for $20. Hopefully it works. I then go and grab a couple $1.50 tacos from the taco truck parked near the snack bar/Mexican karaoke area and watch an interesting Mexican karaoke battle. Killer tacos, great hot sauce. A taco truck with no sign or business info probably isn't the safest bet, but this is a day of flea market risk, my friends, and the tacos are sitting well. I'd rather go for the truck (the busy one, not the dead one parked 50 feet away that NO ONE is eating at...bad sign) than the snack bar, which is advertising 5 tacos for $5. Drive-in snack bar tacos...it's a day of risk, not of attempted suicide. After looking at some really rude, stupid T-shirts that were $5 apiece and deciding that I'm not hyphy/retarded enough to wear one, we leave. At home I hook up the system and it works! One minor flaw, the tray won't eject automatically, so you have to manually open the top to put the CD in...but this may be fixable, the speakers sound good too and are actually louder than my old speakers. I looked the same model up on e-bay, some guy wants $75 for it, says "CD door needs to be opened manually, otherwise works fine." HA!! Take that E-Bay! I'm rockin' Flea-Bay! Next time I'm gonna pick up some produce. Some of it was expensive, but those strawberries were the prettiest I've seen in awhile... read more

I have lived in Reno since 1995 but never made it to the swap meet. I had planned to many times, but this was my first actual visit. My mission was to get fireplace tools for our new place! First, it was only 50 cents a piece for my husband and I to get in. They did not charge me for my 12 year old son or two terrorist toddlers. That was nice, a buck is ok to pay to look around. There was a lot of junk ofcourse, a lot of socks! LOL I do not think I have ever seen so many socks. Anway, I scored a rubber cover for my BlackBerry for $6, that was a deal. Then I come across a couple of good ol boys that looked like they would rather be hunting...but what did they have....fireplace tools! Nice set, OBVIOUSLY by the very pretty style, one of their wives picked them out. I ask them what they want...only $5! Score, babe, give me $5! Put them in the bottom of my grande double stroller and off we go. There were some really good deals on area rugs....the really huge ones for only $100 and they were some of the same brands they sell at the Home Depot and Lowes. If you are in need of tools there were tons of sellers with tools and carpentry materials...I am guessing a lot of out of work construction workers. I really did not see much furniture and really not a lot of kids stuff other than cheap made in Tiwan toys. I was on the hunt for some of the Little Tikes and Step 2 outdoor play items. No luck there. I was not brave enough to try the food, I had restroom issues. There was some sort of band playing. Food stands and so on. We got my toddlers some Dora bubbles for $1 a pack and I had my fireplace tools. That was all we got. I will be going back for some of the area rugs when we have caught up from moving, they were a good deal. It had been raining all week, so maybe next time more vendors. All in all, I will go back. I will leave the 12 year old at home though! hahaha If you want to take the time to look through a bunch of nothing to find your treasure, then this is the place to go. The El Rancho flea market hasn't changed much since I was a young child shopping here since the early 90's. Like some bad Déjà vu, I remember the same sellers have been here for years, who are usually very nice and sell old tools, electronics and movies, cheaply made toys, etc. What you expect at many flea markets and swap meats throughout the country. In short come here if you have a lot of free time and don't mind purchasing anything used. Yes, you'll have a better deal somewhere else but there's always something to discover if you're not afraid in wasting an hour walking around. read more

Used tire vendor is a racist rip off! Today 12/16/17, my kids and I went to have 3 tires replaced. I got there at 8:45. I asked the guy if they were open and he said 3 minutes. We waited 30 minutes and 2 other workers showed up to help so I thought I would be helped soon. 15 minutes later they finally started working on my van. Then a male mexican showed up in his SUV and the guy stopped working on our vehicle and started working on the other guys car. By this time we had been waiting there over an hour. We were also the first customer. They kept stopping and starting on ours putting all other customers ahead of us. When they finally finished around 10:30 nearly 2 hours later they wanted $50 per USED 14 inch tire for a total of $150! I was beyond shocked. Walmart has new tires for $40. Never again. Worst experience. I'm sure our skin color had plenty to do with it since the Mexican customers who shared their language were served first. read more

Tried selling there on 4 different occasions. I made a grand total of $372.00 gross. Minus$26 it costs to each time x4 = $104entry fee my net earnings for the 4 trips is $268.00. Sad, very sad.I looked around and i was selling what many others had but my prices were lower and still made nothing. The problem is most of the people stopping by my spot were looking to re-sell. Also the people there have no respect. Wasnt even set up and had mexicans trying to open my boxes and crates to see what i had. Had to run those fuckers off. That flea market is so bad that one person thought $5 was to much for a $125 comforter. I couldnt even give some items away. Have sold at flea markets in Ca. before and never sold less, earned less and had to run people off. I recommend if youre a seller to fill up the tank and go to Roseville,Ca. read more

I still don't do reviews, but thought this one necessary. I've lived in the area for about 13 years and have never been to this so called Flea Market, until today. I live about 45 mins. away and needed to know if it was even still running. I read the previous reviews and was trying to find info on hours of operation. No dice w/the reviews, so I called the phone # listed. Basically this # is for the Drive In, shows and times(a recording). They give another # for "Market" info, which I called several times with no answer. Thru the grapevine I heard they opened at 6am, so on Sat. off we went. Thank goodness we got a late start. 7:30am and not one booth was ready for business except the lunch wagon, which actually smelled pretty good. Business hours listed at the entry booth were 8am-6pm Sat./Sun. Still .50 Sat./.75 Sun. admission. Got in, parked and walked towards the only open vendors being the veggie and fruit stands. No listed prices or even what the produce was and no one willing to accomodate you at this time because they were still running around setting up. All other vendors were still doing the mad setup dash and by now it was 8:30am!!! When I say all, I mean less than 15 vendors total by the time we left at 10am! We did purchase a couple items to pass the time and yes, we bought socks. There were 3 or 4 other so called vendors set up in the public parking area, apparently to avoid vendor fees? On the way home we hit a couple garage sales and stopped at the local Goodwill Store and made some nice deals. Thank goodness. Sorry guys, it was a total flop! read more
