After a discussion with her I ordered what I thought was a $14.99 combo plate, and grabbed a drink out of the cooler and sat down. It didn't take long, and she brought my food. Laloma is a small grocery store with a meat/cheese/taco/deli counter in the back of the store that happens to have the best selection of salsas around. You want fresh pico de gallo? Got it. You want fresh guac? Bang. You want fresh liquidy salsa? Boom. You want spicy liquidy salsa? We typically grab some steak tacos and they always put in a ton of meat. You can also buy fresh carnitas on certain days. The good "green bag" (forgot name) tortilla chips are almost always .50 cents cheaper here than the Jewel down the street. They also have a decent little grocery section and good deals on avocados. We like to support local businesses like Laloma.

For about the last three years I've been coming here for some of their carry out food, namely the Mexican rice, refried beans and carnitas. Each one of those items is very good, with the carnitas being a real stand out. I'll generally purchase a pound each of the rice and the meat, and a half pound of the beans. They also rewarm very well. I'm not a weekly shopper here so when I saw that they were offering single chicken flautas I was stoked...then Covid 19 hit and we were no longer able to serve ourselves. Instead of purchasing as many single flautas as I wanted, they started wrapping three or four in plastic with lettuce, effectively killing the crispness we used to get. It was also hard to get excited about the chile relleno, which are soggy and don't rewarm well at all. In another review I read elsewhere the writer says the employees speak both Spanish and English. That's not entirely true and makes ordering food items tough. If you're lucky an English speaking employee will step in to help but I wouldn't hold my breath. Still, I've never had a complaint and no one has ever been less than civil. So, no canned beans or boxed rice for me as long as I can go to Supermercado Gonzalez. Three stars is a good rating and I'd add another should things get back to normal. In the meantime, I should learn the lingo.

I'd say its probably the biggest Mexican grocery store in town, they had quite the selection. They had a buffet-style booth in the middle of the store where you can take prepared foods with you. They even had Menudo! While looking for where I can get some tacos, in front of the registers, I see people walking out with tacos in hand. I was disappointed that they only offered 1 type of taco (al vapor, $1.50), torta (also only al vapor, $4.00) and 2 other things, nothing else. The lady there claimed to not speak English but, there was no communication problems. I ended up getting 3 tacos and the lady only took cash. I'll save you the trouble of googling "al vapor," its steamed shredded beef. Very good by the way. Meat tasted fresh and the green hot sauce and included lime juice made me wishing that I got more than 3. Tacos here were better than most of the places I've gotten carry out from.
