I gave these guys a review of my cooking class directly and never received a response. I just called to receive support for a $1,500 set of pans I purchased that are garbage and was told to reach out to the vendor. So here is your review. Cooking class: Instructor stated qualifications - "I love to cook, cooked w Grandma, did good in my HS cooking class. Read instructions from a paper ( we were told they would send us the recipes and they never did. Generally, if you have cooked any dish successfully or if you can read and follow a recipe, or if you have the internet and you prefer to have another person read the recipe that you can use any money you would spend here for a cooking class on some high quality ingredients at home and you won't have to cook with another couple at the same cooking station because there are 4 or more people per station.... That's right! You pay for a cooking class and you get to "rock, paper, scissors" with the other couple to share the tasks you paid to "learn".... Store: Generally looks nice. It is designed to funnel you from your "cooking class" into the store and sell you stuff after you've had a good experience like a Disney ride gift shop. Turns out it's like the plastic stuff from a Disney ride gift shop. You will eventually throw it away. My problem here is I bought a set of "forever" fancy pans made of stainless steel with a magical "titanium bonded" coating..... some real nice Hestons. However we have now researched and practiced and researched and practiced and cleaned with Heston's cleaner and researched and practiced and cleaned... you get the picture. This is to the tune of hours and hours of effort and hundreds of dollars of food wasted... we have done the mercury water test (I'm good at it now), we have cleaned them multiple times to remove food and cooking spray build up (nobody will say, but you're not supposed to use your cooking spray) use oil instead they say... we've done it. "Don't disturb the food" "stainless likes commitment". The food will "release" itself and then you stir. Yeah.... Nope. So after months of trying and researching, I can tell you these pans aren't good to work with... so I called the store. Turns out they can't help you if you used the pans, even once. They don't care about your problems or product problems. They don't really know anymore than you can find on line. So, my advice is: do the cooking class at home.... Find a YouTube video from a chef you like and buy quality ingredients, stop by the store, even buy the plastic gadgets that you throw away one day here if you want to pay 2x what they cost at Walmart.... Look at the expensive stuff like pans. If you decide you want to buy, take a picture of the brand and buy on line. These guys don't have most of that stuff in stock they just mark it up for you and it delivers to your house. What they won't do is help you. They grab a healthy mark up and run. This place is the reason it is better to shop on line. Amazon at least will give a guarantee that works. read more

Enjoyed visiting this store. They were local, they had what I needed for the next day (a pancake batter dispenser), and it was fun to see what they had. I find their prices to be very reasonable. They are not a HUGE store, but they are not too small, either. They have a lot of great kitchen items. There was a cooking class going on while I was there. The lady that helped me was super friendly and cheerful. So were the other employees. I think they have what it takes to be a successful business. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Greeted by a friendly staff member who offered us a cappuccino or sparkling water. Everything you'd expect in a Sur La Table store. Clean store and friendly/knowledgeable staff. There a clearance rack, though not a big selection. If you're looking for a knife set, they have some top end knives, but they have singles also. I took a ravioli making class here and had a great experience! I have made home made pasta before, but just sort of taught myself through YouTube videos and didn't totally know what I was doing, so it was really nice to learn more about how to use a pasta maker and specifically how to use ravioli. This particular class was totally full. I was doing it on my own, so I was put into a group with three other people I didn't know - which was totally fine, but I didn't realize this prior to coming to the class. It felt like a group project we were doing - we were all trying to allow each person to contribute equally (which we did successfully), but I think I would've personally liked to have learned on my own, or with one other person. At times there wasn't enough for all 4 of us to do, so 1 or 2 of us would just be watching while the others were making things. Chef Candy was wonderful and did a great job of reeling everyone in with a group this large. Several people (our group included) were eager to go ahead of the pace that was set, and she did a great job of getting everyone to be on the same pace. Her and her assistants were great at providing 1:1 help with each group once she had given directions to the group. She also prepared a pesto and a sauce for the ravioli while trying to provide help for all of us - it was impressive! We made a salad, a salad dressing, fresh ravioli, and there were two pre-made ravioli fillings for us to use - a ricotta and a butternut squash filling. We finished the class by sharing a meal together - they provided the cutlery, plates, napkins, and lemon/lime water. There were not places to sit so we all stood and ate. You get 10% off in store after class. I'd be interested in taking another class in the future, but would personally want to look into a smaller class or one of their date night packages they offer. It seems like the holidays are a very popular time to attend the classes, so the classes were larger, but someone in my group mentioned that she signed up for a class earlier in December and basically got a private cooking class because no one else signed up which is really cool! read more

Chef Nick was so knowledgeable and funny we did the bread baking class. We made three different types of bread , bread sticks, focaccia and round peasant loaf they were all delicious!! we then learned to make salted butter. It was so fun cant wait for the next class. read more

My husband did a cup then I went to do a cup when a older blonde lady came running over like we were destroying the store grabbed the cup out of my hand and said " can I help you?" Ruder then I have probably ever heard. We had planned to look around and shop and buy a new coffee machine but after that I left. I have never been treated so rudely in a store in my life. Avoid Sur La Table - Terrible Product, Even Worse Customer Service Sur La Table's customer service is as disappointing as their faulty products. I'm now on my third air fryer due to the same recurring issue. After countless emails (only one of which was answered), I was told by the manager--Courtney--that my replacement had shipped and been returned. No tracking number, no notification, no explanation. When I asked for help, I was blamed for not contacting UPS--despite never being given the tracking info to begin with. Courtney was dismissive, talked over me, refused to address the delay, and outright said she "won't go backwards" to discuss what had happened. No apology. No accountability. Just rudeness and deflection. This is not just bad service--it's a complete disregard for customers. Shop elsewhere. You deserve better. read more

Took 2 more awesome classes. One was a Gnocchi making class with cast iron skillet steak (led by Chef Maggie) and the other was beef Wellington class with homemade ice cream (led by Chef Blu). Had no idea the work that went into making these 2 items. Making delicious courses from scratch are always the best way to enjoy an awesome tasting meal. Just make sure to eat something ahead of time to hold you over. :-) Watching the Hell's Kitchen TV series for the past 8 or so years they cut out the time it takes to make these. Gnocchi took about 1 hour to prepare and that was with Chef Maggie cooking the potatoes ahead of time. For the beef Wellington it took 2 hours from preparing, cooking, chilling, until eating it. Such a fun experience to learn these 2 difficult labor intensive dishes. Can't wait to take some more classes from Sur La Table they sometimes offer 20% discounts online and that is always a plus. read more

I think my favorite kitchen related store will always be Williams Sonoma, but because I live very near Fashion Place I end up at Sur La Table fairly often, and each time it inches closer to becoming my favorite as I always find more to like. Honestly, it is quite similar to WS: smaller, perhaps, but they always have excellent food to sample, they carry all my favorite brands (Le Creuset, Staub, Kitchenaid, etc), they also have some excellent candy that is hard to track down elsewhere (Sugarfina, Compartes and Valrhona chocolate), and their seasonal items are really beautiful and creative. They have a great mix of pretty printed aprons, dishtowels, tablecloths, and other linens, gorgeous dishes and mugs, along with tons of great appliances like fancy espresso and coffee makers that you can try out. The employees have always been lovely and kind. The last time I visited a younger girl was very helpful and fun, demonstrating several cool products without being pushy in the least. They offer cooking and baking classes in their gorgey kitchen housed in the back of the store. I have yet to participate in one (though I hope to some day!), but my friends have, and they felt like it was worthwhile and taught by a skilled instructor. You can also drop your knives off to be sharpened here for $5 a piece (I think there may be a discount for multiples), and last time I did so it took little more than an hour. I like to imagine perusing the shelves with someone special who adores preparing food just as much as I do. Perhaps picking up a pretty dish, maybe some exotic spices or a new cookbook and going home to prepare a meal together. I think that would be just about the perfect way to spend an evening. Ellie at sur la table was an amazing host and cheif. Her humor is so amazing and suttle. We had 18 in our class and it was organized and professional. We made lobster risotto and steak and bannana foster and salad. One thing i would suggest is their could be drinks or bevrage to wet your pallet. We had a great time made friends with people and Dorian was a great host cheif as well very patient and calm. We definitely will do it again. read more

There isn't a better kitchen and dinnerware store in the whole Salt Lake Valley better than Sur La Table (from the French, "On the Table"). And there probably isn't one as expensive. You get what you pay for, and Sur La Table gives you quality ... and color, and variety. One of the things that surprised me was the volume of Le Creuset. Sur La Table is pretty close to literally having more Le Creuset than the Le Creuset Store. Their LC "deals" are really the same prices you can get on Amazon, but the color variety -- and the fact that you actually touch and feel the product -- gives Sur La Table a distinct advantage. Most people spend their 20s buying cheap knives. After you've sawed through about 200 steaks, you get wise and get the good stuff in your 30s. After you realize that even the good stuff dulls, you, around 40, get wise to the necessity of a Chef's knives. Sur La Table has an epic set of top-rated chef's knives. They slice amazingly well and for a long time, but you'll think, every time you slice a veggie that "Man, I coulda had a iPad for what I paid for this knife." Still, it will be worth it, and Sur La Table is the perfect place to check out the best in Chef's knives. And the coffee makers. DOn't get one until you go here. The Nespresso is the hot new thing, and this is the only place I've seen it actually in the store. Also, there is one of their in-store kitchens, where they hold classes. I'm more of wanting to try out what they cook than cooking class ... so many good ones! There's one every night, I may stumble in one of these evenings. And there is so much variety. Highly recommend it!!! Awesome instructor Maggie and her assistant too. Loved getting instruction papers too so I can make them at home. These classes you are in groups working on your recipe with 3-4 people. I came with 2 others so we were our own group. We made classic French croissant, ham & gruyere, and pain au chocolat. We made 7-10 of each and even got to take some home. Would love to take another class. read more

My fiancé and I took a cooking class here and it was top notch!! We took the "Down By The Shore" date night cooking class and learned how to make crab cakes and strawberry short cake. The whole class was such a fun experience, and the chef who taught the class (Jasmen) is an amazing instructor. You can tell she loves her job, and her excitement and enthusiasm for cooking exudes to the point where it's palpable! Highly recommend taking a cooking class here. I signed up for their "Date Night" cooking class and paid an enormous amount for it. I thought that it would be fun for me and my boyfriend to do something new and to experience cooking together. Well if you're looking to cook as a couple, don't do this! You have to take turns cooking a dish with other people. I envisioned cooking together at our own station. Well we were paired with another couple cooking the same dish all together, we had to take turns doing one thing. I didn't get to experience anything with my boyfriend. I'm sorry but a date night means to do together and to spend time together, not taking turns stirring a pot. I was very disappointed in the class. read more

Came here for the first time with my Mom and Sister for a cooking class. It was great, we were the only ones who registered for the class, so it was like a private class. The instructor was amazing! COSTUMER SERVICE non existent!!! I have been to this location a few times with my husband and friends. They never had a great costumer service but today i had the most BIZARRE experience ever! I walked in and went straight to the coffee section because i had found a Kitchen Aid French press online and i was wondering if they had it in store. KAYLA was the person in that section. She seemed very busy drinking her coffee from the moment i walked in. When i asked specifically if she new where the item was, she acted like she never heard the word French press before. It was like i had spoken a different language to her. She then proceeded to point it out to me some stuff that wasn't even in the coffee section. I then asked her if she knew what a French press was. She walked away and talked with another store associate and look it up in their computer. She came back and said "we don't have it". Now, i know Sur La Table carry that item because i saw it on their website. She basically walked away with her coffee after that. I proceed to ask if they could order in. She replied that they could and took me to the computer. She said: just enter your information. She is so LAZY that i had to type my own info and card info myself. She walked away to the back of the store. A different person helped me finish my order. I don't know who manages this store but clearly they hire people who don't really care about their costumers. I won't be returning to this store. Crate and Barrel and Williams Sonoma will be getting my business from now on. read more

I don't think I have ever had a more terrible experience with a business' customer service. I purchased a class for my mother, but she changed her mind and in order to return the class and get my money back it has taken over 3 weeks, 2 visits to the store, and countless hours trying to reach a customer service line only to find out that their system is down and I should "try calling back in about an hour or so". When asked if they could just follow up with me when their system was back up she replied with "there are a lot of people that will be trying to call then so I can't do that." (Thanks lol can't wait to sit on hold for an hour because you have told everyone else to call back then too). They like to charge you the big bucks for a damn cooking class but don't care to take care of you if you change your mind. I am honestly disgusted and will never give them my business ever again. read more

Went to the Street Taco class and while it's a beautiful kitchen and the instructor was competent and energetic, the menu was lacking in taste all around. The homemade corn tortillas were thick and tasteless. It was as if we were eating a thick cornflour paste and they wouldn't bend as we all tried to eat our tacos. But that's the least of it. By the time all three types are ready and you have 15 people in line to assemble theirs to eat, they're cold. But even with that the sauces were off. The line crema was too tart and the tomatillo salsa was bland. The soggy chicken that was cooked in the pressure cooker had zero flavor and looked so unappealing and again it was even worse that it was cold as we got around to eating. The only saving graces were the battered fish and the pickled onions we made. I thought maybe it was just me as I sat there, barely being able to force myself to eat three measly tacos. Then I heard the rumblings of my fellow class saying the same thing! They agreed the chicken had no flavor and the sauces weren't good. One of the guys kept counting out the calories he's wasting eating this crappy food. Many whispered to me it was their least favorite class. Please Sur La Table rework these recipes so we leave happy wanting to recreate them. I was terribly disappointed! read more
