We had an absolutely fantastic experience with our Surdyke boat rental and wave runner. Both were in excellent condition--clean, well-maintained, and ready to go--making it easy for us to enjoy a wonderful day on the lake, complete with a Sunset Cruise at the end of a fun day! The whole experience was smooth, fun, and exactly what we were hoping for. My only tip, and this is completely on me, is to double-check which location you need to go to since they have two spots on the lake. Once we figured that out, everything was great. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend Surdyke to anyone looking for a great lake day! read more

We were interested in a boat that we viewed online and contacted sales. They suggested putting a deposit of $500 down until we were able to visit tomorrow (within a 24 hour period) to make sure the boat isn't sold and to be able to purchase it if interested. We provided the deposit via credit card, only to be notified hours later that they (Mason, the sales manager) decided to sell the boat to another party and will refund the deposit. We'll see if that happens, this business is super shady and does not honor their word. If they cannot honor something as simple as this - I can't imagine what else they are doing in terms of a business. Run away from them, quick! read more

We were happy to rent from Surdyke as we have before. However, as we travel up the Gravois arm, a few things came to light. We had no speedommeter, the driver seat was worn out as it couldn't be adjusted and when you sat on it, it sunk way down. Also, the throttle would not let us go above a certain speed, which we didn't know because we had no speedometer! We were told it's a safety feature. However , the boat we had rented at a different marina didn't do that. I was so disappointed as I believed Surdyke to be a reputable business who cared about the rentals as much as the high power boats you promote. Your staff was great except for the girl we were voicing our concerns to. She was very defensive, instead of listening to us, she kind of explained it away. Or to tell us to report when we checked out. Lastly, we were told the charge for gas would be taken out of the $1000 hold. The gas should be charged separately. The hold was on the account for 4 days. Sorry, but not the best experience. read more

Absolute joke of a business. The docks are literally falling down. The management is so unorganized. Several different departments and none of them communicate with each other. I had my boat in a slip and had it placed on dry land to do repairs. The storage fees charged for outside storage in an unsecured dirt lot on blocks are twice what I paid for a slip. This makes no sense except that they knew they could extort it. Unfortunately, I can't give zero stars but hopefully this will serve as a warning of what to expect if you decide to use this company. They were ready, organized, and made it easy to get in and out. The jet skis ran great and love that they had reverse.

Rental was great. I was raining the first day and they were able to shift our rental one day so we were able to enjoy the boat on a rain free lake. Overall good experience and they were very flexible with our schedule, even allowing us to return the boat outside of working hours. 100% will rent from them again. read more

Used Surdyke for years for winterizing boat and jet ski. Couldn't get them out do a winterization so we had another service group winterize our boat and jet ski. Then Surdyke ended up coming to the property unannounced and claims they winterized the jet ski. How do you winterize something that has already been winterized? They lied about work they did and then charged my elderly mother for the work. We have made multiple attempts to contact them to get resolution, but Mike, the Service Manager will not return calls and the Owner, Greg, is never around. Also, does not return calls. I assume Greg doesn't know what sort of shady employees he has, because he is not present at his business. Surdyke thinks it's perfectly fine lying about work they did not do and charging senior citizens without consent. If you choose to use this business - Do Not put a card on file with them. They charge high fees for their work and chances are they probably aren't even doing the work you are paying for. read more

I would mark zero if it was an available option. We bought a boat from Surdyke a year ago and an included maintenance plan. Surdyke has very poor customer service. From the beginning, it has been a struggle to get anyone to communicate when it comes to repair orders and questions. Without even trying to diagnose, they immediately respond with it will take 3 weeks. No matter the time of the year (even in off season). These 3 weeks usually come and go and the customer constantly has to follow up. We have been waiting on parts, that were supposed to be replaced, with the purchase of the boat....a year ago. They never fully address the repairs and their techs are lazy, leaving jobs unfinished and do not clean up after themselves. I would not recommend them for a purchase or a rental. They'll leave you stranded, out in the lake, telling you it will take three weeks or pretending they don't know where your location is. This is all pre COVID, so the virus has nothing to do with how they run a business and lack there of. read more

Do NOT buy the service warrant!!!! When you call for winterizing or Dewinterizing they can't get to you for months and you end up doing it yourself!! So it was a complete wast of money.... The 2 year plan! Wow they should have just gave our money back! what a Joke! Plus they were rude about it! all they want is the sales! Previously purchased a wave runner and a jet boat from Surdyke. At one time, Surdyke was my dealership of choice. NO LONGER! After trying to find a new wave runner with no luck due to shortage of supply everywhere decided to buy used. Purchased a used wave runner from a private seller with remaining Y.E.S warranty and needed a dealership to do the warranty transfer paperwork. Made a call and Mike from service who knows I have previously purchased states $145 if you bring in paperwork only, $285 if we look at ski. OK! Called a dealership in St. Charles which is on my route back from picking up the used wave runner. They say "sure we can do it". I ask the cost. They say "No charge". What! A dealership I have never been to before treats me BETTER than the dealership I previously purchased a new Wave Runner and a new Jet Boat and all my maintenance supplies for over 12 years. I rented a wave runner for 6 hours, then I got hungry so I skied to my dock; docked it went inside to get a BAG OF DORITOS and not even 1 minute waves from other boats made mine sway a lot so it got a LITTLE scratched up. Rented a brand new Yamaha AR240 jet boat from the Surdyke Port 20 location for 8 hours and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The prices are comparable to a lot of other rental locations around Osage Beach but for better, newer boats. Made the reservation over the phone, which required a $50 deposit. Easy. The paperwork went quickly and the dock hands were really helpful the day of our rental. I should have gotten their names to mention them in the review, but I failed in that respect (apologies). My first job was a dock hand at a Yamaha marina in North Carolina, so I was already pretty familiar with the boat, but the guy that went over the boat with me was very helpful and did a great job expediently and concisely going through the checklist and orienting me to the boat. We went back to the marina once during our day on the lake to get fuel and to rent a tube from the office, and of course again at the end of the day to top off and turn in the boat and tube. The same dock crew was there each time and were always polite, personable and helpful despite having been out in the sun for approximately eleventy hours by the end of the day. I received a return visit punch card which allows me to earn up to a 50% discount on future rentals. While I am personally unlikely to return and use it since I visit the Ozarks once every 5-6 years, I thought it was a great idea, and a nice touch. 50% off a Yamaha boat rental is a big deal. For all of you that are interested in launching your own boats from the Surdyke Port 20 location, beware: $15 to launch and $15 to recover, which is insanity. Not sure if that's the going rate around the lake (I imagine not), but that's madness, if so. However, if you're looking to rent a boat, I definitely recommend giving Surdyke a shot. read more

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. Had a terrible experience with the Surdyke's and their staff. Rented a boat from them which ended up breaking down and having multiple items wrong with it. Employees at the shop were rude and didn't care that we weren't happy since they already billed me for the rental. We didn't use most of what we paid for but was not offered any refund. Reached out to the owner after not getting anywhere with the people in the shop. She ended up calling us liars and was very confrontational. Refused to work with us at all and fought us with defensive responses to our complaints. Never received apologies. I hope I never have to deal with Ginger again as she is truly a terrible individual. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND TO ANYONE. We have since rented from Iguana at the lake. Not only were they cheaper but much more friendly, their docks are cleaner and much more accessible. When we did have one issue with one of their rentals, they were quick to fix the issue and awesome to work with. We were very excited to buy four wheelers for our kids. Our sales guy was awesome, but the paperwork man, Troy, was absolutely awful. He was more focused on getting off of work and was rude during the entire transaction. This was supposed to be a great experience. I felt frustrated and rushed. My kids wanted to pick out helmets which takes longer with 5 young children. We want our kids to love the sport. He almost looked disgusted when we said we wanted to take them home that day, of course we did when we just dropped that much money. read more

We took 3 bikes there to be serviced. They called on 2 bikes with an approximate amount to fix, but had no information on the 3rd bike. I asked them to contact back once they had info on the third. I was in a poor service area and the call dropped soon after that. They called a couple of times during business hours where I could not answer. We finally make contact on Wednesday, February 15 and I was told he didn't appreciate being hung up on and was rude. I explained I didn't hang up but had limited service. We arranged that Saturday for pickup. We then receive a text indicating if our bikes were not picked up they would be hauling them to scrap. We called and arranged a pickup time and then the day before the scheduled pickup we receive a text after close indicating that our bikes are in storage and not accessible and not sure when they would be available. read more

Last week my son and I flew in from San Diego to experience Party Cove at LOTO. We rented a H23 runabout from Surdyke on KK. Upon entering the rental office the 3 teenage employees had no internet access so they didn't know how to check us in. I helped them do the math. We then went down to our rental which was filthy and had many dings. At $600 per day I was very disappointed. But the worst part of dealing with Surdyke is they added a full day rental because we were 45 minutes late. Please stay away from Surdyke. This is the first review I have ever written. A staple every visit to the lake. There is a big sense of integrity among every employee that works for this family-owned and operated business which our family appreciates. We primarily visit their two waterfront locations, although, we have stopped by their highway location as well. The lake is busy, especially on holiday weekends. Safety and reliability should be one of your top concerns. We've rented waverunners, pontoons, and jet boats and have always had what seems like brand new equipment. The rental crew over Memorial Day weekend was especially helpful going over all the safety features. The prices are very reasonable. The equipment is practically brand new. The locations are super convenient (Tan-Tar-A cove or their new Port 20 location). The team is friendly, honest and what keeps us coming back. See y'all on the 4th! read more

Never purchase anything from this company. I have never written a review for a company and I am only writing this now because of the nightmare purchase I have had of a brand new boat. The boat was delivered damaged with components that did not work. There was a commitment to have them fixed before delivery that was not met. The absolute worst experience for service after buying a brand new $80,000 boat/motor from them. They've never fixed the depth finder and throttle since the day we bought it. Despite having it brought in for service for an entire day. They billed us for fixing the throttle (a warranty item) after paying them $600 for a "break in" service on a new boat. To this day the depth finder is completely blank. They refuse to call us back despite multiple assurances they would take care of this. Not a single call back or word in the past month. I had a last minute need to rent a boat and Surdyke was very accommodating. They offered me a slight discount to make their price competitive with other local boat rentals. I was concerned about several of the negative reviews as well the lack of leniency with the rental times that resulted in a high late fee. They were very open that these were instances where the boats were double booked that day and not returned to be used for the other renter. The staff working that day was very accommodating and answered all my questions. Despite being younger kids they all worked hard to get us taken care of and get us on the water quickly. I appreciated their help with knowledge about the lake. The boats were newer and clean. We had a great experience And we're going to return the next day to rent wave runners, however, the weather took a turn and so we did not go back. I would recommend them and I would use them in the future. read more

They seem to be fine when taking your money, whether renting or buying or even doing service; however, in terms of service they often come off as arrogant and they have been extremely slow in responding to our warranty claim. I'd heard they will jump through hoops to service customers. Well not me. I have followed their warranty claim instructions to the letter. First diagnosis was harness from the engine mfg. covered by them so it looked like all was good using the marine shop here in KC. That part didn't fix the problem, so "Glastron" was then contacted which meant Surdyke, my dealer. In the meantime, I was in contact with Glastron at that factory, Rec Boat Holding. I wasn't even registered as the owner of the boat with them. Not as a new sale or for warranty claims. I guess my $40,000 purchase was worth registering with the manufacturer. The local marine contacted Surdyke service and they discussed continuity across the harness. A different harness, not from the engine manufacturer. Surdyke didn't contact Glastron, the manufacturer until the following week. The part wasn't ordered until the week after that. It has now been over a month since the repair began. I have been first ignored by Surdyke then subsequently shown zero concern. I suppose if you drop $100,000 or more, then maybe they will pay attention to you. From my experience though, once they have your money they really do not care. Kind of sad. read more

Terrible terrible experience buying a boat from this company. The finance dept gave me the wrong set of paperwork, and was asking me to scan and send documents for them, they lost my liscense copy even though they held my physical liscense for over a week. Three weeks later, they are still calling me for documents. I put 3 hours on the boat and it left me stranded in the water. Battery won't charge because the stator wires are melted, fuel pump not running, many fuses blown. Salesman dodging phone calls and won't return my calls. read more

Terrible experience renting wave runners. First when I searched rental places near The Ledges Condos where we were staying, this company came up as being .03 miles away. When I called the number, it turns out they have 3 locations and although I mentioned that we were staying at The Ledges, they continued to rent me wave runners from the Yamaha location which was almost a 20 minute drive and over 30 min drive in the water each way to bring them to our location and back. Then, although nobody crashed them or drove recklessly, they charged us $200 in damages on each wave runner for scratches on the sides that none of us know where they came from. I wouldn't rent from the Yamaha location again. We had a better experience renting a Pontoon boat from the port 20 location but I'm still not satisfied with this company and their poor customer service! read more

We rented 2 jet skis from them. There was a $1000 charge to our account in case of damages. The jet skis were not damaged while in our use. Five days after renting, I called them to question why the funds were not returned to our account yet. Finally, on Day 6 post rental out funds were returned to our account. I have never experienced such slow customer service! read more
