I needed a new key fob and talked to someone in the company who quoted me a price, but when the technician came out to do the job the price he quoted me was solidly double what I was quoted on the phone. After back and forth it was determined that the person I originally talked with quoted me very incorrectly but it led to a less that smooth experience, although the technician was polite and did a good job giving me the fob I needed. If they offer to sell you a key fob, DO NOT BUY IT! The pin that connected the key to my key fob had fallen out and the key got stuck in the ignition of my car. Nate from Sure Lock & Key came right out and got the key out of the ignition, then offered to sell me two new key fobs for $450. I figured I could save some money over the dealer and it would save me a trip. They were the key fobs for the sedan, not my hatchback, but I figured I could get use to pressing the trunk release for remote start. Both key fobs seemed to work, but later that night neither one did. They seemed to wake up when I unlocked the car with the key (thus setting off the car alarm), but would die again after sitting dormant. To their credit, they replaced the key fobs free of charge, but the problem wasn't solved. Ultimately, we figured out that one needed to press the unlock button roughly twice as hard as normal to "wake up" the fobs, then the buttons worked with the same amount pressure as the factory fobs. Again, I could live with that, but a few months later, the pin fell out of one of the fobs. Fortunately, it was in my pocket and not the ignition, but if it fell out once, it could fall out again. Since that the reason I had to call them in the first place, I just wanted a refund or some kind of recompense. After first being told that "it was out of warranty" (a key fob shouldn't fall apart after three months), I clarified the issue to Ann, who said she would investigate the matter and get back to me. Then she went dark. I emailed the company a week later and asked someone else could respond if Ann wasn't available (this was to both the office and support email addresses) and waited another week before writing this review. Overall, a very unprofessional way to deal with a customer with a legitimate issue and therefore I would not recommend this company to anybody. EDIT: In the owner's response below, he says, "Please rest assured that we will be investigating this issue further to ensure it doesn't happen again in the future." I contacted Sure Lock & Key because my kitchen sliding door lock was not locking. They sent over Paul as the service provider. When Paul looked at the door, he determined that the door was functioning perfectly well but it needed to be greased. Paul didn't fix the door other than applying grease to the lock and track. Paul stayed for less than an hour, but would have talked more than doing the work. He then presented me a bill for $260.00 for doing absolutely nothing other than spraying grease on the lock and the track. This company is fucking joke and I urge everyone don't contact them unless your life depended on it. I protested the bill because Paul did absolutely nothing other than talk and applied grease to the lock. He then stated there was nothing he could do, it was the "company" who made the price. Sure Lock & Key being "the good company they are," then reduced the bill to $212.00. Such a joke but it was worth paying it to get rid of Paul from talking. A complete rip-off. I'm not one to make reviews but this was just so egregious that I felt the need to warn others from dealing with this shit company. It's unfortunate that one star is all you can give because this company doesn't deserve even half a star. This is my first-ever negative review about a company. I am compelled to write because of the shockingly bad service I received, and wanting to warn other potential customers. I had a key replaced by Sure Lock and Key, LLC. last Spring. The first thing that happened was that the technician tried to charge me more than the company quoted me, but I chalked that up to poor internal communication. The real problem came after the key stopped working 6 months later. I contacted the company and was informed that there was a 3 day warranty period. They were unwilling to come up with a plan to replace the key for a discounted rate, though they at one point said they would. In addition, they would only communicate through text and email, refusing several attempts on my parts to have a phone conversation to try to resolve the matter. Ultimately, I contacted the Subaru dealership to resolve the issue. It turned out that even the dealership provided the key reprogramming service for less than Sure Lock and Key offered in their "compromise" solution. In short: poor workmanship, deceptive business practices, and a complete unwillingness to stand behind their service mean that Sure Lock and Key is to be avoided at all cost. read more

We just brought into our home two kittens that we were segregating in a bedroom as we tried to get our senior cat to accept them. We have an old doorknob on the door and somehow it became jammed, effectively locking the kittens in the bedroom. Of course, this occurred at night but when we called Sure Lock and Key, they arrived in less than thirty minutes, dismantled the old lock which was broken and replaced it with a new one.
