    Burger magic

As a big fan of smash burgers Sure Shot has been on my list for awhile, they were top of mind the week I stopped in as I'd just seen an insta post where someone had taken (literally cut off) their power cord. Figured that was my sign to stop in! The cart is situated in a pretty chill spot with tons of covered seating. It was a weekday & well after the noon lunch rush, but there was still a steady stream of folks coming through. I was really stoked to try what I'd heard was one of the best burgers in the city. Like seriously stoked...burgers make me happy lol! Speaking solely on my order (single cheeseburger/fries/fry sauce) Sure Shot is a must-try! My burger was SO GOOD, thin crisp meat skirt edge, patty to bun/toppings ratio was perfect. Some places are all bun but not here. The fries were thin, crispy, salty goodness. Will def be back.

A YouTube foodie video about Portland Food Carts piqued my interest in this place. Out of all the food cart stations I've been to so far, this was probably the smallest. Most of the carts were closed. I'm guessing this may be because there is a much bigger food cart station a short drive away. I actually drove past a super crowded brick and mortar smashburger restaurant on my way here, but was determined to try this specific burger. I ordered a single cheeseburger with everything. Service was very friendly. My burger didn't take long to prepare-- just long enough to be sure it was fresh. Okay, so, first of all, yes, it actually qualified as a smashburger. Out of all the smashburgers I've tried in Oregon so far, this was the first that technically actually was a smashburger. As you can see from my photo, the patty was smashed thin, and there was some caramelization. Not a lot, but some. The toppings were a bit of sauce, onions, and pickles. Basic AF. For $6.50, I thought it was a decent value. It was like a fresher, slightly higher quality version of a fast food burger. In my personal opinion, the flavor of the meat patty was not enough to stand on its own. It was on the bland side. It really needed more seasoning, sauce, or toppings. While this won't be my personal favorite new stop, I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a plain, basic, classic smashburger.

It's not supposed to look like an amazing monstrosity. The joy of a Smashburger lies in its simplicity.

My goto has been Mid City Smashburger, but I may need to reassess. Sure Shot's version was excellent, especially the balance of ingredients. Quick service and fair price.

In a highly competitive smash burger market, only one can be truly the best. Though it doesn't always have to be a competition... but if you're sure shot you hope it's a competition. You know why? Because they would win. This is the best smash burger in the city. This is the epitome of what you want from a smash burger. Edges perfect, cheese done just right, the perfectly chosen bun, the fries pair perfect. They got the sauce down. It's all there. Nothing else to say. I've been running around the city ranking burgers every which way. What I know is this... It all starts with Sure Shot at #1 (4.9 Stars)

This is my first driving review via speech to text to write this review. Oh man, that Sure Shot Burger was the best smashed burger I've had in my life as of 2/21/2025. Simple and good; it had onions, cheese. The burger patty was really thin, well-seasoned. With the onions, it complimented it a lot. It tasted as if McDonald's or White Castle would have a smashed burger. As well as the fries tasted like McDonald's. It was fast; my order took 3 minutes to complete because smashed burgers don't take long to cook and had a coke as well. It probably would've been the first place I went back to order for seconds; thought about ordering another burger, but I didn't; it was that good.

    Double smash burger heaven

Friendly service, plenty of parking and covered seating, and killer hit-the-spot food! Simple menu, but you don't need much variety if you're craving a solid burger. The dip options for the fries were delicious too! The bar next door provides bathrooms, water, and other beverages that you might need; or you can hangout there after your meal. Highly recommended!

Definitely some of the better tasting smashes around town and very well priced in comparison ($6 single). Would probably recommend just buying 2 singles instead of a double if you are hungry though from a price standpoint. Great being able to wait and take them into Oakshire. I got there right before a rush and burger came out in about 5 min.

I was craving a smash burger and reviews for Sure Shot were promising. Being next to one of my favorite breweries sealed the deal. Prices are great at $6 per burger. Wait time was long, but beers made that just fine. Fries were tasty and burgers were great. Kind of like a super high end old school McDonald's burger. I split a bag with someone else but we were stuffed after two burgers and fries. The third was a great treat the next day. Will for sure be back!

Single cheeseburger smash burger and fries with spicy ketchup!

Normally I visit a couple of times before I decide to review or not and this cart has won me over! One of my friends had been raving about the cart for a few weeks and convinced to give this place a try. Smash burgers are the latest burgers I will seek out and I am happy to say this is another winner! I parked my car close by and arrived at the cart. The menu is pretty simple and the price is on point. I ordered the single cheese smash burger with fries and a bottle of Squirt. The food is cooked to order and I was given a buzzer. They have a covered patio with heated lamps so melt myself warm and enjoyed the music ambience. I picked up my food and soda to enjoy consumption and the fries were crisp, just the right amount of salt. And the portion size was perfect. The spicy ketchup was tangy and flavorful with a little kick as a finishing touch. I then tasted the burger and the toppings held well together. With each bite I could enjoy the special sauce, the onions, the cheese, and the seasoned patty with flawless harmony. I let my friend know that it reminded me of how old school burgers used to taste like when I was younger. The cart also offers a vegan option which I heard is one of the best impossible burgers in the city. I can't wait to go back and try that on my next visit, cheers!

Chicken nuggets dusted with ranch seasoning with special sauce (thousand Island vibes)
    Dina E.

I ordered a double burger (cheese, onion, pickle, sauce) and chicken nuggets with special sauce (thousand Islandesque). The burger was a crispy-edge double smash patty. Was tasty and what you'd expect of a double smash. The chicken nuggets were coated in a ranch powder. They were tasty, crispy little sponges. Staff was friendly. Wait wasn't bad on a rainy Saturday. There are tents with heating just right there. I opted to take my food home as a patron under the tent sounded really sick and was coughing all over (ew). Next time I will be back to try their eggplant burger, fries and ice cream sandwich.

    Sure Shot - smashed goodness

Still happily plowing my way through all the smash burgers out there, I ended up at Sure Shot on Saturday around 12:30. There wasn't a line at the truck ordering, but there were quite a few awaiting their meals in the tent seating area. It ended up being about a 20 minute wait, but it was worth it. The burgers are slight in toppings but satisfying on flavor...and most importantly in smashness...with fabulous crispy edges and a very tasty smash sauce. We each ordered a double and shared an order of fries. My only suggestion would be to cut back on the fry salt some. But other than that, the food was great and service exceptionally friendly. Sure Shot is definitely a must-try if you enjoy a smash as much as I do.

The hunt for fire burgers continues! This food truck is a gem. The smash burgers were tender and crispy. I wish it was bigger because I want more. I loved their sauce. Wasn't too heavy. Their fries are crispy and paired perfectly with the spicy ketchup. I love their covered patio. They have heat lamps also. It's located next to a brewery if you wanted some beers. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend!

I knew that the next time I came to visit Portland I was going to have Mama Chow's again. It's been almost six years since I tried Mama Chow's for the first time and there's always that anxiety of wondering if the food is as good as the memory was since so much time has passed. I can confirm that the food was just as good as the last time I had it. I arrived a little after 12pm and Jeff Chow helped us. He was so nice about explaining the items on the menu to my partner, saying happy new year to us, and making us feel welcoming because we were his first customers of the day. I ordered the chicken wings with garlic noodles and it didn't disappoint. So much flavor in the garlic noodles and the sauce that comes with it. The fried chicken was amazing as well with the right amount of flavor and crunch on the outside and tenderness on the inside. My hope is that I don't have to wait another six years to come back to Portland, but when I do I'll be visiting Mama Chow's Kitchen again.

There is plenty of seating there and It looked like there was a space for live music and string lights - probably a fun spot to grab dinner in the evening. We came for lunch and ordered the chao mian with chicken (spicy) and bian bian noodles (spicy). The noodles are cooked to order and we were served quickly. The serving sizes are huge. Neither one of us could finish ours. We'll likely order one dish to split next time, and that'd still probably be more than enough. The flavor of the chao mian was a bit lackluster. It was savory with a soy sauce flavor base, but got a bit repetitive with each bite. It was decently spicy and texture was there with the veggies, but I wish there was a way to customize with more spice or vinegar to taste. The bian bian noodles were more flavorful and also spicier. Fun noodle texture. There are also other vendors in the garden so you can pair a dessert, drink, or side with your meal while staying in the same area. Overall, a filling meal for a good price! Would come again to try their beef noodle soup.

Right off I-205 and just a short cruise up into Happy Valley, this spot feels like the food cart scene finally put on a clean shirt and got its life together. It's modern, it's polished, and it sits in a neighborhood where you don't feel like you need to keep your head on a swivel. No chaos, no nonsense just good eats and a relaxed vibe. What makes this place stand out? Options. A ridiculous amount of them. This isn't a "hope everyone agrees on tacos" situation. This is a "you get what you want, I get what I want, and we all win" kind of place. I've officially made it my mission few days left to try as many carts as humanly possible. Call it a food tour, call it a personal challenge, call it reckless ambition... I'm doing it anyway. We kicked things off at K-Pop Korean Hawaiian BBQ-because when you roll with a buddy from Hawaii, that's basically law. And let me tell you, it delivers. Bold flavors, solid portions, and that perfect fusion vibe that just works. Honestly, it set the bar high and that's saying something, because every cart here seems to bring their A-game. The setup is dialed in too. Covered seating for those rainy Oregon days, indoor space when winter decides to show up with attitude, and open-air areas when you want to sip a little wine or knock back a cold brew like a civilized adult. Surrounded by trees and mountain views, it almost tricks you into thinking you planned something outdoorsy... when really, you just came to eat. And here's the kicker it's clean. Like, noticeably clean. The carts look new, the area is well kept, and the whole place feels intentional. Not slapped together. Not gritty. This is food carting with standards. If you're local, you already know. If you're passing through, put this at the top of your list. And if you're doing a full-on food truck tour? Start here. Set the tone right. Because trust me after this, when you head back downtown and start dodging zombies and chaos... you'll miss this place real quick.
