This was the best surf shop I could find near the Myrtle Beach area and was within walking distance of the beach and a great surf spot! Staff was also super friendly and helpful :) There are a variety of rentals to choose from, not just surf boards. They have skim boards, paddle boards, bikes and even wet suits! All at a reasonable price. Me and my husband rented a skim board one day, which was $20 for 24hrs and a surf board the next, which was $25 for 24 hours. Inside the store you will find a variety of clothing, shoes, sandals, sunglasses, bags and my favorite....carver decks for all the long boarders out there. Private surf lessons are available, along with paddle board tours and lessons. Overall this a great place to check out whether you are a beginner or expert and looking for a good place to rent while on vacation. Brought my boyfriend here to rent a surf board and wet suit, the selection was great. The owner I believe he was gave us a great deal, hints on where the best waves were and gave us some wax for the board. The staff was very helpful, with pretty fair price for gear rental! They have a decent selection of surf board and body board for rent. We had a tiny rental car, but they let us use their padding and belt, and helped us tie the surfboard on top of the car! And they gave us good direction to find great spot for surfing with free public parking, which is just 3-min drive from the store! read more

Decided on a a custom shaped little 5'0" small wave board they shaped in the shop. Had a blast on it! My son Ian first learned how to surf five years ago at Surf City with their instructor Ryan. Though my son only has limited opportunities to surf each year, whenever we're in Myrtle Beach I have the instructors at Surf City give him a tune-up lesson. The instructors teach new surfers the key elements of safety and then progress with skills based on the individual's abilities. My son had a lesson with Chal last week and caught some good waves.
