wasn't too impressed by this place. i come from a family of beach-goers and they raved about this place so i gave it a try, but i wasn't crazy about it. i got the mahi taco and it was really small but still $6. the taco shell tasted like cardboard, but besides that the flavors were pretty good although i had to eat it with a fork without the taco shell. i also asked for mine without cabbage but nonetheless was loaded with cabbage. my boyfriend got the baja bowl and added mahi to it and paid $17 but they forgot to put both chicken (which it came with) and the mahi he added to it... i thought his was a bit overpriced. however i loved their salsas, especially the baja salsa with chipotle peppers. i wasn't crazy about it overall, but maybe if i'm at the beach i'll go back and give it a second chance. read more

Ordered off the gluten free menu, and the food was prepared improperly. There were pieces of fried, breaded chicken in my "gluten free" burrito bowl. They also have the chips listed as gluten free on their menu, but it is fried with everything else, so it is not safe either (which I was not told until after I let them know about my other food being prepared wrong. They remade the food and packed it to go, but I still was concerned about eating it, as I didn't want to get sick. I wouldn't go back, only because of my allergies. read more

First time at Surf Taco. Took 15 minutes to decide what I wanted, so many choices. Got a 2 taco combo and my daughter got the Aloha burrito. I enjoyed both my buffalo chicken taco and teriyaki chicken taco and my daughter really liked her burrito. Great food, great prices, great service...couldn't have asked for more. read more

Okay, I don't think a lot of people on here are really getting the concept of Surf Taco. It is called Surf Taco right, and its primarily that. It is not Mexican food, it is beach food. The food is made with fresh fruit and veggies (pineapple, avocados, red onion, ect) and proteins (chicken, steak) or seafood (shrimp, mahi). That being said, this is the kind of taco you want after a day of surfing or laying on the beach. It is made for beach kids. So these reviews of them being a bad Mexican restaurant is ridiculous because its not a Mexican restaurant. If you want Mexican I do not recommend surf taco to you, all. If you want fresh healthy food then this is the place to go. I get the chicken teriyaki taco and a side of rice usually all the time. Also the Aloha wrap is amazing. Their smoothies are also on point. I never feel weighed down or guilty after eating here. Also the salsa isn't something you would get from Tostitos or a watered down Mexican restaurant. Its the kind of salsa you would eat on the beach enjoying a beer. It has fresh spices and the Baja is packing a heat that I cannot even explain. So, if you are looking for west coast tacos, don't come here. If you are looking for a hidden Mexican restaurant, don't come here. If you are a benny, just don't come here. If you are a surfer, come here. If you can ride your bike from your house to the beach, come here. If you have only seen the ocean once in your life, please keep driving. The word "ehh" is what describes Surf Taco for me. First off, let me say that if you are a Chipotle fan, and expect the same from here, you will be sadly disappointed. The burritos were pretty bad. After a few bites, all of our burritos had unwrapped and hap made a mess everywhere, none of us finished them as they weren't good. The tacos were alright, but there were mixed opinions, some saying that they were much too bland, with a lot of tortilla. The chips and guacamole were the best part, which doesn't say much. The chips were stale and flavorless, but the hoax was good, although have had better. In conclusion, I wouldn't stop back again for the very overpriced food, which I could get a significant improvement for less money, but just going to a Chipotle or elsewhere. read more

Food is a little bland but the chips and salsa is what keeps me coming back. The hottest salsa has incredible flavor and the perfect amount of heat. i usually order the chicken chimichanga. Good spot to dine in, very mellow. Parking is a little rough at this location. Bubbakoos (Manasquan) and Fins (Point Boro/Brick area) are two alternatives nearby, or you can go authentic in the same shopping plaza at Dona Julia's. read more

The food from Surf Taco was awful. My family all got burritos, and after two only rice filled bites they fell apart in a soggy mess. Was hoping to cap off a wonderful trip to Bay Head with some authentic beach food but was extremely disappointed. The "fresh" salsa bar was really just water. Their salsa considered hot had no kick to it whatsoever. I'm not really sure how this place is popular. usually love surf taco... but we were just at the Manasquan location at 3:35 and were told it was a 40 min wait for food & there with loads of empty tables. The girl at the counter said they were just slammed & kitchen got overloaded. if it were crowded and no tables available that's very understandable,however the place was almost empty. the girl at counter seemed to care less. disappointed... so counted on their good food. not good business .. read more

Gone WAY down hill. I had the most expensive, flavorless mahi taco and an equally disappointing shrimp taco. I am not sure it was mahi or shrimp because there was so little in the taco and the shape of both were completely unrecognizable. Even the chips weren't fresh. read more

My wife and I are regular customers at Surf Taco. The food is always fantastic. However, our most recent trip was very distasteful, customer service wise. We mentioned that they recently put up a new sign and laughed with the cashier. Once our orders were placed, they came out within minutes. My burrito was cold, in which they forgot the beef. My wife's order was completely wrong as well. We approached the cashier in an attempt to actually receive what was ordered and his response was "No you didn't. You didn't say any of that...". He even repeated our order back to us and the receipt laid it out perfectly. Obviously this frustrated us, so we asked for a refund. He stated that he had to get his manager. After a few minutes the "manager" approached the cash register without ever looking at us, grabbed a $20 bill, handed it to me and said a hollow "sorry" and walked out of sight. we live in point pleasant and didnt realize there was one here we always went to toms river store or silverton...whatever ....the point pleasant shop was very very busy and loud as well as very very dirty the waitresses did a very poor job wiping tables i found a hair in the hot salsa!....i live in point and wont go back it was poor at best very dissapointed... read more

Surf taco is a spot my boyfriend and I frequently enjoy when we come down to our house. We usually have a great experience there, until tonight. My boyfriend and I get the counter and my boyfriend orders our meal and asks for 2 water cups. My boyfriend gives her my credit card and we proceed to go outside with the number for our table. After waiting 45 minutes and not getting any food I inquired about our tsunami we ordered. The manager comes out and asks us about how we made our payment and we told her our card and she said she had no record of our card being on file but goes to look once more and clarify with the cashier. The Manager comes back out to tell me that she didn't have any record of the transaction and I tell her sorry for the miscommunications, that it was no problem and I handed her my card again to run it through. She comes back with my receipt pending a signature, I sign and even leave 2$ gratuity and tell her sorry for her inconvenience once again only for her (the manager) to bring my food back and interrogate me as to why I was trying to "STEAL" from her establishment. How do you come serve me my food with an insult after I just paid for it and left gratuity? What MANAGER conducts herself in such a way? Never in my life have I experienced something so assonine. "Becky" the so called "manager" of that's even her real name hasn't even the slightest bit of professionalism. Never In my life have I ever been so disrespected by a manager nonetheless. We will never return but we will proudly go to another surf taco unless this surf taco gets new management. Horrible experience. She took something as simple as an employee to customer miscommunication and turned it to accusations and insults to a customer that was being nothing less than overly cooperative.
