One day for drop-off of materials and the other day for installation. While the finished product is solid and I'm pleased, this experience lacked the polish of our first two installs. The "bummers" included the team arriving fairly late, almost 1-2 hrs than planned. Installation didn't finish in the one day we were scheduled. It took them 3 days and they weren't consecutive, so it took more like 3 weeks. The team didn't install pads on furniture, like the other installs, and it resulted in deeply scratched boards that had to be pulled up and replaced again. Thankfully we had extra material. The good that was appreciated included well cut corners for the kick board, took accountability for the scratches and fixed without a fight, and agreed to install a very small piece of footboard we didn't originally have in place. Note: pay by check to avoid any credit card fees. My husband paid the deposit with a credit card, which I asked him not to do, so they credited the card and let me pay the full amount by check. If you're considering flooring I do recommend you call them. We have gotten quotes easily and quickly, which is the first step in project planning. Knowing what to budget is half the battle.

We've all had experience with the bad contractors: the ones who won't show up for a quote, the ones who take advantage, the ones who take your deposit and forget you exist. Steilberg Painting is one of those rare companies that has its feet firmly planted on the side of the good guys. They've done two fairly large jobs for me trim paint on my 2-3 story home on a steep incline, and an interior paint job on my foyer, stairwell, stairs and upstairs hallway. Both jobs required scaffolding and extensive detail work, and both were completed on time, with care, by painters who knew what they were doing. The tips they gave me on painting are ones I continue to use for my own paint jobs, and their attention to detail was extraordinary. Good painters ARE NOT CHEAP. That's because painting, to put it delicately, is a pain in the derrière. But when it's done right, with proper wall preparation, the right tools, excellent quality paint (Steilberg uses Porter Paints quite a bit, a great brand) and attention to detail, you will get your money's worth. I have worked with several contractors before on this and previous homes. I apparently have high standards few can meet. These guys were really good. Nothing is perfect, but they sure tried to be. My deck is gorgeous and solid. Everything it should be. They were flexible and helpful and professional. They also provided and architect to design the deck to meet our needs. I had some concerns after the build was done and they were paid (not saying they did anything wrong, but some things I would have liked to have been done differently). They bent over backwards after the fact (and after they were already paid) to make us happy. Including spending more time and materials on my project. I would literally use these guys for anything they would want to do for me. Great experience. Also, their quotes were either in line or less expensive than others for the deck project. Definitely earned five stars.
