If you smelt marijuana it's because I'm 100% disabled and choose that over narcotics. The original carpet change was requested because I just purchased the home and it had an animal smell. As for the padding, that's another story. You did say you could start on the 22nd and even promised to send additional contractors in advance for the estimates. You didn't decline my projects, you were incapable of completing them. Countless text messages requesting info were ignored. Reviewing a business based on my experience is not wrong. Attempting to defame my character online may just be liable behavior. I am glad you have many satisfied customers, just wasn't my experience. Last year I reached out Square It Away to replace a sink we purchased at Menards. He was the first person Menards recommended, he was my first call, and he was a very wise choice. Fast forward a little over a year later and I needed our dishwasher leveled. It was noisy and if you pulled out both of the drawers at the same time it tipped scaringly (is that a word?) forward. I tried to level it myself a couple times but all that did was teach me that I suck a leveling a dishwasher. After telling my wife that we needed someone to level the dishwasher that could actually do it, she asked "What was the name of the guy who did the sink last year?". I said "Denny!" A quick text to Denny was all that it took. In no time we settled on a time for him to come over and fix what I could not. I got a call about 15 minutes before he arrived and when he arrived he went right to work. He pulled the dishwasher out, did some level stuff and some reinforcement stuff, added a bracket so that it wouldn't tip forward, and shored it up nicely. The entire job took about 45 minutes. It shows, too, in Denny's work ethic. The visit was originally scheduled for a Saturday, but due to the ice storm he had to push it to Sunday. I told him he didn't need to make a trip over on a Sunday and that it could be done later in the week. I don't like to interrupt Sundays because Sundays should be easy. He said he'd rather get it done for us then and made quick work of it. Being ex-Army (both myself and Denny) there's sort of a built-in camaraderie. Even though our paths never crossed when I was in active service, there are always like stories and experiences, and locations to be shared. Once again, I'm very impressed with Square It Away and with Denny's skills and professionalism. He shows up on time, has the tools and the talent to get the job done, and has A LOT of ladders on his truck. First of all I did not do business with these people. I gave five stars just so I did not mess with their current rating. HOWEVER, I did have an extended phone conversation with one of the company's principals and want to share my observations. First of all I called to inquire about a Master Bath remodel, full or partial. Of course we had already established where I'm located. I was told my location is about an hours drive from them and they would only be interested in coming that far IF it's a major renovation. I explained my whole reason for calling was to get an idea what a major reno would cost. That's fair is it not? Next I explained 5 years ago I acted as my own general contractor for a full kitchen remodel. I went on to say the kitchen project went great and my experience doing it showed me just how many people you have to deal with, plumbers, electricians, drywall, flooring and suppliers. I also explained I'm older now and didn't want to deal with all of that again. I was told: He wasn't interested in coming out to look at the job since I couldn't commit to a large high dollar full reno. Secondly, he stated he doesn't like doing jobs for experienced DIY people because in his opinion DIY'ers second guess how he does his work and he can't tolerate that. In other words, in my opinion he wants customers that don't have a clue about costs and the work entailed in a project which would make me leary of him and his practices anyway. He may do excellent work, I don't know. However seems to me his preferred way to operate is for you to hand him your checkbook and say "have at it"! read more

When I first called for a consultation they were able to schedule it quickly. We met with Dennis he was very knowledgeable about what it would take to repair our bathroom and gave us a reasonable quote. I communicated with Dennis primarily through text and phone call. He did a pretty good job at responding to my questions. Mostly checking on our start date and what we wanted in our bathroom. Dennis was able to find all that we wanted with no issues. When he started he was focused on our job and doing a quality job. After demo we discovered there was some additional work that would need to be done and he gave us a number for that as well and was able to quickly make the additional repairs. He did a lot of the work himself, but had support throughout the process. When some minor challenges did occur he worked to resolve them to a high quality. One thing we did encounter is our start date did get moved a couple times. However, we did stay in contact with Dennis during the time. Much of the delays were related to weather and things beyond control. We are so happy with finished product and his work ethic that this was not a major concern for us. Our bathroom has been finished for about a month and we are still in love with it. I will be definitely go back to them for additional house repairs. read more

Denny picked up our new shower door at Menards for us, brought it to our home and installed it. He was extremely professional. He had everything with him that he needed to do the installation. He was finished with the shower door in just a few hours. Then my husband showed him some damaged vinyl siding on our home exterior and he replaced the siding within 15 minutes. He's fast, efficient, and very pleasant. His rates are reasonable and even gives a discount to military and repeat customers. A few years ago, I was given his name by Menards and he installed an exterior garage door for us. He did an excellent job with that also. I'm so thankful I kept his name and phone number. I just had new vinyl plank flooring put in my home by Square It Away Contracting. Jonathan and Andy did the install. Dennis, the owner, even came by the house to introduce himself. Even though they encountered a few issues, they handled everything very well. They were polite, kind and very professional. Once the flooring was purchased, we had the install scheduled for the following week! I am extremely happy, and in love with my new flooring! I would highly recommend this company to anyone. I was stuck in a bind and Denny came through. Contractor I had originally been working with just disappeared. I needed a metal roof put on my 14x16 pergola covered deck, and needed it done within a week due to my daughter's graduation party coming up. Contacted Denny on Friday afternoon. He came out that night and took measurements. He called me Saturday afternoon and quoted me a great price and said that he could have it completed before the party on the following Saturday. Even with the weather, Denny was true to his word and wrapped everything up on that Friday. Cuts were perfect and the roof looked great!
