Not our first time in Neskowin, but our first time staying at Proposal Rock Inn. I booked this place through AirBnB and for a last minute reservation for my husband and I, I thought the price was reasonable. Anyway, Donna checked us in and she was so lovely and very welcoming. Our room was medium size and with plenty of room for two. Our room was decorated in an appealing retro 80's beach theme. The room was very clean and had everything one would need: towels, microwave, TV, WiFi, storage, and a large comfy king size bed with lots of pillows. Neskowin is a state beach park and the Inn conveniently has a couple of restaurants and a general store on the same property near the entrance and even a food truck (ice cream and waffle cones) and this place is only a minutes walk to the ocean and the famous proposal rock and ghost forest. If you like state beaches and like things conveniently situated, than give them a try. read more

This is a great place to get away from it all. It's a bit off the normal beaten path for most beach goers but that is what makes it great. This place is a bunch of independently open condos that go on a "rental program" so you never know a) how it will be decorated or b) what will be in the individual unit above and beyond the obvious features, bed, etc. Our unit was decorated in full beach decor, in fact, it appears that every time someone in the owners family bought a them a gift it was a shell or a picture of the ocean because the place was covered in them. (smile) All in all that added to the charm of this place. It was a condo so it had a full kitchen and we took advantage of that some of the time. The rest of the time we were hanging at the Hawk Creek Inn. In fact, one night while we were there, a friend that lived nearby had been out angling and gave us an entire crab to eat and a fresh (caught that day by him) salmon. There is a community barbeque grill that we were able to use in the parking lot are of the condo complex. Fresh salmon for dinner with a side of crab, well that couldn't be beat. The owners had a selection of currently released dvds to choose from so when, I unfortunately became ill with a horrible head cold and wanted to rest up a bit I could watch a dvd in the master bedroom while taking cold medication. Stayed in room 230 first time. A touch grandma shabby chique but the view more than made up for the room itself. Second time they put us in room 128C facing the road even though we asked for 230 again (it was available but the manager booked it when we asked if there were any cheaper rooms and what their pricing would be without confirming that we actually wanted a cheaper room and made it seem like we got a deal and bargain and did not change the reservation) and then- loud and noisy, no view, exposed electrical wiring, water started pouring down a hole in the ceiling at 10 PM and we had to have maintenance come out and fix a leak, the shower/bath was full of black mold. All the rooms are a bit rundown, but some are downright unsafe and unsanitary- luck of the draw which you will get. read more

The room (325) was a big disappointment. It seemed dingy and in disrepair. The toilet seat was broken and taped back together with packing tape. The blanket on the bed had holes in it. The pillows were old and flat. The Murphy bed was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever slept on in my life. You'd be more comfortable on an air mattress. On the plus side, the view from the balcony was nice and the beach was a short walk. Coffee and ice cream also within walking distance. My parents stayed here too and their room was actually pretty nice so I wouldn't discourage anyone from staying here, just be careful which unit you select. read more

Proposal Rock Inn was legitimately the worst place I have ever stayed. And I have stayed in my fair share of cheap, run-down motels. From the very beginning, even while attempting to book a room, the staff was rude and abrasive. I could easily overlook that. But the place itself was simply awful. It was unclean, loud, and a dust heaven. As soon as we walked into our room, my girlfriend and I had allergic reactions. We could literally see dust floating around and kicking up from nearly every surface in the room. It genuinely seemed like parts of the room had not been cleaned in years. With every cabinet we opened, a new cloud of dust greeted us. After being greeted by dust and general filth, we then found two mystery pills on the floor. They were just sitting there in plain sight. This was particularly alarming since we had our dog with us. The mystery pills were the icing on the monster cake for this place. It demonstrated so clearly this place's lack of cleaniness and sanitation. Had it been thoroughly cleaned - or cleaned at all - these pills would have been readily discovered. Within minutes of staying at this location, it triggered a migraine. Because of that, I sought a refund and we had to head home from a vacation that had just started hours ago. When I attempted to get a refund, Donna at the front desk tried to charge me for one night (even though I had only been there for about two hours). She told me my migraine and allergies "were on me." It took me confronting them about just how awful our (very brief) stay was for them to issue a reluctant, argumentative refund. I know plenty of people are dramatic in their reviews, but from the bottom of my heart, PLEASE, for your own sake, do not stay here. This was the truest one star experience I have ever had. It's not worth the high price tag - or any money at all. read more

This place is a dump! Wet carpet, paper-thin walls, spotty cellular coverage, poor wifi connection, no assigned parking. My face started itching as soon as we arrived. Took some Benadryl to bed. Woke up and my eyes and face is puffy. We can hearing everything in the next room and as people walked by in the parking lot! Take your money and spend it elsewhere. read more

Two stars only for the view. Place is also now run by AirBNB which is what we used for room 327. Decor was cute but place was filthy. Spots on the rug...seriously needs cleaning. The worst was the sheet on the bed. Not only did it have multiple stains, it had cigarette burn holes! Since it was late when we got in, I didn't let the office know til morning. Said it wasn't their fault, that some industrial laundry does the work, but she did apologize that housekeeping didn't see it. Said we'd get a replacement immediately. Also told her the towels were dirty with makeup stains. We were out all day and when we got back, same dirty sheet. We did get a new set of towels. There was also mold in the tub. Person in the office said there was nothing she could do. I'm sorry but for $400 for two nights, I think you should have cleanliness. I have a complaint in to AirBNB and hopefully get a refund. read more

Proposal Rock is a pleasant place but has gone downhill and I won't return Charter Cable has ruined the WiFi with routers signalling they are on, but not enough to actually work. This kind of disregard should not be rewarded. Avoid Proposal Rock and really avoid Charter Cable, the bane of the Oregon coast. read more

My biggest complaint is the maid/cleaning service. They are so rude and noisy. They don't clean either. Our room had a bed with the comforter pulled over a mattress with no sheets. The comforter had pee on it, too. So that was a lovely find. The maids left the room next to us open all night so we closed it and asked the management if it was supposed to be left open. It was not. Their kids scream and yell and will taunt your pets through the windows. If you do stay here be very choosy. Some of the condos are amazing, while others are old and run down. Choose a beach view room, otherwise you will hear nothing but road noise and screaming children. read more

I never ever write reviews, but something needs to be said about this place. The management is not good at customer services whatsoever. The room we rented was nothing like the photos, we were in the hopes of at least a microwave and mini fridge and that wasn't the case. This was definitely a reason why we wanted this room, we wanted to save the money by getting groceries... The manager was going to talk to the owner about taking some off of our bill and never did. She accused us of stealing towels.... we never received towels after day 1... we had a 5 night stay with 3 guests, she gives us 2... so we grabbed some on our own. She had an attitude from the beginning, suprised 15 years of "great customer service" you told my fiancé I've never received this kind of service ever. My family for many generations have been going to proposal rock and never had an issue, especially my grandparents owning a condo, this is why an accurate review must be done. I always recommend this place to friends and family, sadly cannot anymore. read more

My husband and I made a last minute reservation for one night at Proposal Rock Inn. The room we stayed in was in desperate need of renovation. The decorations reminded me of staying at old Aunt Berthas house. The towels were super small and falling apart. Looking at other reviews it seems to me that each unit might be owned by different people and then rented out when the owners aren't occupying? This might already be a known fact but for those just booking a quick stay be forewarned that the room furnishings vary. The Wifi did not work in our room and we did let the office know. Of course, when standing in the office it works just not when in the room 50 feet away. Upsides? Great location- you can easily walk to proposal rock/beach. There are a couple of delicious restaurants that share the same parking lot. The room was clean. read more

I have stayed at this place three or four times I absolutely love it I am almost afraid to let people know how good it is the view is awesome the beach walking at night is great it's dog friendly just an awesome place all around including the restaurant and the convenience store had many awesome things I hope they don't jack up the price and only rich people can afford it... I have always had nice interactions with the staff and anyone worrying about Wi-Fi in this beautiful place should stay somewhere else get outside and enjoy the view morons read more

Used to be great many years ago. Pretty shabby now. Be very careful in the stream outside the condos. Our pups played in water that looked really clear but when we got home got extremely ill with a parasite called coccidia. Numerous trips to our vet, emergency room stay and over 1,000 dollars later we are feeling somewhat better. A terrible parasite, nothing to fool around with. read more

Friendly staff, clean room right on the highway, reasonable price. No elevator to 2nd or 3rd floor. Free WiFi. No chair in room, tv remote didn' t work and no way to ventilate the room. For just a place to sleep for one night, it will do. read more

This "hotel" is a group of condos which are pooled into a rental situation. I'm sure when the place was originally built all the condos were the same, but over the years they've probably changed and evolved. While the building definitely has some 60's or 70's, styling it seems to be well maintained and the folks who work in the office are friendly and helpful. Having said all that, this review can only apply to unit 327, which is the only one I've stayed in. The condo is a one bedroom, two bath unit with a kitchen and a nice couch that pulls out into another bed, which is as comfortable as a hide-a-bed can be expected to be. The unit is totally beach themed and has obviously been renovated recently. The kitchen is really nice, including a sweet little island which is great for playing games and such. The unit is stocked with all the basics of home, so if you don't want to eat out at the Hawk Creek (a really nice little restaurant) you can totally bring groceries and have everything you need. The whole complex is right next to a nice little stream and this unit has views of the big rock and ocean. All in all a great place to stay. read more

stayed here over the weekend very quiet, peaceful room was exceptionally clean and nicely decorated and comfortable. full kitchen, separate bedroom and futon in sitting area. Lots of extras etc. we had dinner at the Hawk cafe and while the food, service and prices were great we would probably choose to eat in our room in the future ( we like a quieter dinner) the office staff was very friendly and helpful and the price was a plus also our dog loved the beach etc we will absolutely be back!~!!!! read more

The location was beautiful, the price was reasonable, there were dogs in the rooms next to me and above me and they scratched, barked, and bumped against the walls and floors for most of the night. It is not a place I would reccommend for a good nights sleep. The reason I will never return is the woman handling the office when I checked out the next morning was rude. read more

Enjoyed a relaxing weekend here with the Mrs. Based on a previous review we asked for room 327 and it lived up to the hype. The place was clean and cozy. The nautical theme is cute, albeit a bit campy, and the ocean view is great. There is a newer TV in the living room with a DVD player and the unit has wireless internet so if you bring the right cords you can stream movies from a laptop right to the TV. Do you remember VHS tapes? The unit has an old TV and VCR in the bedroom with a good supply of old movies for the kids. Unfortunately The Hawk Creek Cafe has closed, which was a bummer, but we were told it will be reopening early 2013. We ended up driving north about 15 minutes to Pacific City for dinner on Friday and then bought some groceries and took care of ourselves for the rest of the weekend (the room has a full kitchen). I did pop my head into another room that the maids were cleaning and it looked equally nice, though completely different furniture and decorations, so each room must be unique. Our room didn't allow pets, but we noticed a few people with dogs and the person in the rental office told me you can request a room that allows them. I think we'll do that next time and bring the pooch with us! read more
