Bought out by Private Equity (same as Southern Air) - AVOID. These are snake oil salesmen. They don't do actual maintenance under their "Shield Plan." They take pictures and charge highway robbery for basic HVAC cleaning/maintenance and further unnecessary repairs or additional equipment. I bought what I thought was a package that would provide for twice-yearly inspection and maintenance of my HVAC system. Turns out, this costly package doesn't actually provide the basic maintenance covered by other companies! Zero actual maintenance included! They just take pictures and try to extort you for - let's see - a $500 drain line flush (not clogged) and hundreds or thousands for bells and whistles like a UV system. Take your business to a company that hasn't been bought out by the vultures and which actually performs the services for which you contract. This place is slime. read more

Surgi's now Southern Air: Discombobulated, and broken-down, miscommunication, messaging and calling back and forth and then when I finally was able to speak to the consultant TROY via phone, he was not accommodating in texting as requested so there was no further confusion, but I found out he had other reasons too as you will note! He got frustrated at my being frustrated and actually told me that I was, quote "getting all up in his shite about things he hadn't done and wasn't responsible for and so, just like I was wondering if I should even continue to deal with the company he was NOT interested in working with me!". I am guessing that I will not hear back from the owner of the company as requested because they believe that is completely acceptable customer service for potential clients! IF that is how they act and if that is the customer service they give BEFORE you are even a client i.e their first impression! then I can only imagine how horrible it would be AFTER they have your money! After just under 2 1/2 years since the install of my new system by this company I needed a drain line flushed out, and they wanted almost $1000 to do it. Sorry, no chance. Inflated prices and untrustworthy technicians. I called them to schedule my tune up. Each time they come it seems they are telling me I need to spend thousands on something. The last time they came I spent $1600 on preventive maintenance. This time they said I needed 5k worth of work on an ac unit that I never have issues with. Then they said that because the unit is 11 years old he recommends I replace the unit instead of pouring more money into it. By this point I got this feeling that this technician was trying to take advantage of me. Another guy from Surgis came to give me the price of a new 4 ton unit and of course he added a bunch of other things to the quote like a UV light system and a new attic ladder for 21,000 minimum. At this point I knew for sure I needed to get a few more quotes. Both companies that came out confirmed that the technicians were trying to get a sale out of me. Neither of them suggested that I get a new unit and they gave me reasonable prices for repair/preventive maintenance. Both quotes were less than 1/4 of the cost Surgis quoted me. read more

Ever since Southern Air bought them, this company has gone completely downhill. Every visit now feels like a sales pitch -- the techs push their "shield plan" relentlessly, and when you point out that it costs more than two tuneups with their own coupons, they get an attitude. Whether they're stressed by management or all the good techs left, something has clearly changed. The real breaking point was a floater switch repair that never actually got fixed. A few months later my thermostat lost power. A tech came out, wiggled some things, and declared it working -- no real diagnosis. It happened again, and again after that. This time they "diagnosed" it and wanted $600 to replace five feet of thermostat wire, claiming there must be a short. When I pushed back on the price he produced a coupon he wasn't "supposed to give out" -- still $490. It didn't seem like a short to me, because I wiggled the wire myself and everything kept working fine. I called another company. Turned out it was the original floater switch -- still faulty. Probably a bad batch, because once it was actually replaced, I haven't had a single issue in two years. Glad I didn't waste my money on their guess. read more

Service call 10/30/2525 "Not the original Surgi's anymore." I recently had a service visit after installing a new thermostat. It worked fine for about a week, but when the weather turned cold on 10/30, the heat didn't come on. I tried troubleshooting everything I knew, but couldn't get it working again. Since I had used Surgi's in the past with good results, I decided to call them again. The technician who came out was polite and professional. However, my experience this time didn't match what I had come to expect from the old Surgi's. He recommended a "re-wiring" and then found a blown 3A fuse -- just a small $0.06 flat-blade fuse. He explained that the fuse had to be replaced to continue testing, which made sense. The final charge for that fuse was listed at $133, which surprised me. The total bill for the visit ended up being $709.32, which included the service call and a service package for $179 that provided a discount on parts and the day's visit. In hindsight, the problem seemed to be that my new thermostat wasn't compatible with the heat pump system, and replacing it along with the fuse likely would have fixed things for around $40 in parts. I wish I had known that before authorizing the additional work, but I understand that diagnosing HVAC issues can be tricky. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to reach anyone afterward to discuss my concerns -- my calls were not returned as of this writing. Overall, I'm disappointed that my experience this time didn't reflect the same level of value and communication I remembered from the old Surgi's. This is a review for HVAC service. I hired Surgis for a custom condenser pan and unit inspection following a home remodel project. Customer service was rather impressive. They were responsive, easy scheduling and all commitments were honored. I had two service dates in the same week (my pan was made and installed in less than 24 hours) and each time I received a confirmation the day before, a picture of the technician (Rene) assigned and a call 30 min before he was headed to the home. Once there, he took the time to explain what was needed, recommendations to keep the line clean in between service appointments and a call out regarding changing the filter on a tighter schedule post construction. I'm happy to have found them and without question recommend them for HVAC needs. read more

On a service inspection of my annual service plan they tried to sell me unneeded repairs and on one additional maintenance task the price was double what another contractor charged me me who also told me the needed work was premature. Do NOT use Surgi's AC (Southern Air)!! They are crooks and totally wasted my time and I'm still waiting for them to refund my money. Eddie gave me a quote to move my condenser, $3763 but I could get a $513 "discount" for getting a membership with them ($239 for 2 AC PM's a year) which came out to $3249. So I paid $239 to get membership and then they send a new quote and voila! No discount. They also charged me $89 for "service call" to come give me estimate to do work which they didn't tell me about when I called. (My unit wasn't broken, I just wanted it relocated in my yard.) Then no one will return my calls for two days!!! I finally got through to a manager ("we do honor our quotes, we just had a glitch in the system") and I should be getting a refund after almost a week and half a dozen unanswered calls. Terrible service. Techs are salesmen! Wrong cut off box for 2 years!. Improperly wired for 2 years. Improperly grounded for 2 years! When I asked about ground bridge that they removed as unneeded. They said that it was essential all of a sudden, and tried to charge $580 to replace it ( $25 part and 5 mins labor) they also did not pull permit for install, though they said it was taken care of. We requested someone come out to check on our AC coolant levels and when Adam Abdelmuhsen arrived everything was absolutely fine - the house was cool and everything. 30 minutes after he left, our AC will not come on and the company is not doing anything to expedite a response. We had a very dissatisfying thing happen to us a few days ago at the hands of Surgi's AC Service. I want to vent and share the situation for your information. Surgi's had installed an AC unit in each of our two CG condos several years ago, and we have been generally pleased with their service through the years However, on the morning of April 18, 2024 the AC unit in 2E had conked out, and of course, we had house guests coming the same day. We called Surgi's, and were pleased that they sent out a serviceman a few hours later. He was here for about 2 hours, and unstopped the condensate water line which solved the problem. There were no parts necessary, and there was no indication that he had done any other work. He then presented a bill to my wife, Helene. It was after the work had been done that he presented the bill to her. The total was for $664.50 and he asked her to sign in two places which she did, and she paid by credit card. When I saw the bill, later, I read it and saw that the first of the two places where she signed said that it was before the work was done and it detailed the work that he was planning to do and what it would cost, and she agreed to it. That was not true, as she says she is certain that he got her to sign in the two places at the same time AFTER the work was done. He had not informed her of the work to be done and what it would cost before he did the work. I called the bank and they had already paid the charge, I called Surgi and explained the situation as I saw it. I told them of my dissatisfaction and my belief that it was about $500 too much. (I had called another AC service company, and they told me that they routinely charge $125 for that job.) The fellow at Surgi that I spoke to refused to adjust the bill to something more reasonable. I have called Surgi two other times and asked to speak to the person in charge, I was told it was Jason, and he was busy, but that he would call me back. He never has. So here we are having been overcharged about $500 with no satisfaction from Surgi, and we are not happy! I told them I would be sharing this experience. read more

They sold a 76 yr old lady a Trane 2.5 ton (15 Seer approx) system installed (no new duct work, no new line set) for $16,700!!!! That is outrageous and disgusting in my opinion. Got no help from them when I called and they said they would not be able to get me a detailed itemized bill. Basically gave me the bs runaround. Jeremy even said that they don't know the cost of the units and corporate sets the prices. BS. A couple of months ago Surgi's sold me a brand new Trane 3.5 ton AC unit for an astronomical price when my old one died. Note: before my old one died it did a great job. The new one has never worked correctl, has frozen up, they cut an overly large hole in the ceiling for a new duct making it impossible to attach the vent cover. My many calls and emails to talk with a manager have gone unanswered. We had to spend the night at a hotel the other night. Example: outside temp 90, inside temp 79, thermostat set at 70. When it's been 100 it's well over 80 inside. That's the best it can do. I would obviously not recommend them. read more

Potentially since new ownership has taken over, Surgis is no longer a trustworthy company. They have showed a lack of integrity and professionalism that goes beyond what I have ever experienced with a company. 1. They installed our system and we have spent 15K+ with them over the years. We have always had Surgis upkeep our system and have trusted them to do a good job. 2. We noticed moisture in the attic and asked Surgis to look into it. They improperly diagnosed the issue and the result ended up creating mold around our vents. We payed 1600 in mold remediation and drywall repair. 3. They properly diagnosed the problem and admitted it was not addressed correctly and this should have been caught during the install process. When given the quote for the work, we asked for a price reduction since this was a quality control issue on their end. 4. A manager called us and stated this was a discounted price even though this was not noted on the paperwork. During these conversations, Scott hung up on us.we requested calls from upper management but never received a call back. We really just wanted the issue resolved and decided to proceed to schedule the work with Surgis. 5. When we received the breakdown of the work, we noticed the cost of the vent covers which we already had purchased prior to. We called asked if they could use ours to help reduce price. Instead, they canceled the work and said they would never work on our unit even though we currently have a warranty with them. After calling back to try and get the work scheduled, they stated they no longer had the technical staff to do the job. 6. After getting quotes from other companies, the prices we were getting were significantly less, showing that Surgis lied about a discount or they are just majorly price gouging all customers. We also asked other companies if they would be able to do the work quickly since Surgis made it seem so technical. All other companies told us anyone who installs a system or does duct work needs to know how to do the work we needed or customers would be dealing with the moisture that we found ourselves with. 7. I called Surgis back as a final attempt to get management to work with us and was told we have your information they wouldn't take any additional information for me. My tone wasn't heated and I asked the phone rep to please just take the notes and request a call from upper management and she hung up on me. if Surgis was truthful in their reason to cancel the work on our unit, they currently don't have the staff that has the skills to properly install AC units. If you have Surgis install your unit and find errors, they will not work to resolve the issue and will likely charge you more than necessary for repairs. You would think some upper management would have intervened but that never happened. Cannot warn people enough about this company. Stay away. read more

Highly recommend price shopping before committing to Surgi's. We needed a new hot water heater and got quotes from various suppliers. Surgi's was by far the most expensive, the quotes were $2,000 more for a tank water heater, and over $4,000 more for a tankless- compared to their competitors. The financing interest rates were very high too, starting at 9%! read more

I contacted Surgi's to have an air condition drain line cleaned. I asked how much the charge would be when I called them. They insisted they could not give any prices over the phone. They said there would be an $89 service charge. When the guy got to my house, he whipped out an iPad to show me several options of "plans vs. one time fee" that I could choose. I have purchased a high end trane system from Surgi's. Apparently, they failed to install it properly. It was a communicting system. They sent a technician that did not understand the system and he incorrectly wired it, according to another technician. A fuse was then found to be blown. I was told that it costs over $500 to replace the fuse. The fuse cost is $10 and would take less than 5 minutes to change it. If I refused to pay the $500, the technician would not proceed with the diagnostic/repair of the unit. My original system cost was over $14,000 dollars and they were trying to extort an additional $500. Reading other reviews, I suspect this is not the only case where they attempt to overcharge potential customers. Their business practices are contemptuous and I strongly recommend that you look to another company for your AC needs. read more

Charged almost $500 to clear the drain line. Took less than half an hour. Outrageous! They had just installed the unit less than a year ago.

i called this company to come check out my air condition unit the lady on the phone seem nice and was very polite. i told her what my problem was she assured me that someone will come out that same day to service my unit.but before i hung up the phone she asked me how will i be paying for the service and she needed my bank info. they called me about 2 hours later and stated that someone was on they way to check it out . they never made it to my residence 4 hours passed nobody never showed. i contacted surgi back and then the lady that was polite on the phone earlier was very rude saying they coming and hung the phone up. so now i never recived service from this company i see charges of $ 19.95 on my bank statements this been going on since last year . i contacted them and was told i will get refund that never happened.. i just looked at my bank statments and they still taken $ 19.95 out of my acct ..but i never recived service and never signed any paperwork to authorize this company to take anything out of my acct.....i contact them still waiting on someone to call me back.i will contact bbb for this matter and my bank...people be careful who you call for air condition need because this company not trustworthy they steal your money .....angry mad could have been customer...yallnever cane to my house so what the hell i'm been charge they feel like you wouldn't notice and they take money from innocent people. i want my money back now read more

Absolute nightmare of a company. New units installed (inside and outside), dehumidifier installed and still have the original problem! It's been two years of dealing with this company with no resolutions, just spending more money to repair what they've destroyed. Everything is under warranty but was informed today (from my daily calls to the office requesting help) they will not be servicing my units and equipment any longer! They've never corrected corrected the original problem! This has cost me thousands and thousands of dollars!! Absolutely unprofessional from the countless unanswered and avoided calls to the office to the inability to repair things they broke! Requested electric work installing one ceiling light and one under counter light. They would not give me an estimate over the phone, they had to sent technician out to estimate the job. Well, the estimate was $427.00, for two lights, six screws. I refused but was still charged a service charge for coming to the house. Way inflated prices, call around, finally got installed for $205.00. Surgi's needs to stick to a/c services. They are outrageous for electrical services. We had a mechanic come to our house last week. Though our unit is old, we requested a repair as we cannot afford a new unit. We are in the same situation as many people. The mechanic examined the unit and diagnosed the problem. He informed us that we 100% needed a new unit. A new unit would cost us $12,000! I asked him is there anyway he could repair the unit so that we do not have to buy a new unit. He said sorry there is no way. We then called| Year Round (yearroundac.com), and an honest mechanic came to our house and fixed the unit for $175. My question to you is why is it that your mechanic tried to sell us a new unit when the problem can be temporarily fixed for $175. I know it is a temporary fix but right now we cannot afford a new unit. Please address this issue. Also, I emailed this issue a week ago with no response. Surgi's recommended we do several things to improve our AC system - but after giving us a quote only did two of the three things promised. Their employees said point blank that there were issues only to have the owner, who had never seen the equipment, overrule those decisions. So it can be frustrating, because there are times where the answers aren't black and white (and we all want to feel good inside our homes). Your results may vary, and I know many have had good experiences. I've heard nothing but good things about their full install of new systems, so maybe that's where they are best. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!!!! I got a brand new Trane AC/Heater less than 3 years ago & I've had to have someone come out at least 5 times because something isn't working. They last came out in Nov because I had no heat (took another week to fix because they had to order a part) Now, coldest day of the year - NO HEAT!!!! I've called 4 times today and have gotten an answer service each time. I've yet to speak to a Surgi employee. read more
