Thai BBQ Chicken Lunch
Tiffany J.

I stopped by for lunch on Friday since I hadn't been in a while. I got there right before they closed for the lunch shift and switched over to dinner. The soup was fire like always, but the chicken tasted a little old, which threw me off because that's not what I'm used to from them. I figured it was probably just because I got there late. Parking is always a mess--that's part of the reason I didn't make it in earlier. I'm definitely gonna try again though, because usually the experience is way better than this.

I took my mom to lunch at Surin during my visit home. She wasn't really a fan of how sweet the Thai Noodle is, but it's still one of my favs! She did like the spring rolls and coconut soup though.

Surin West was excellent for lunch! The egg rolls, spring rolls, coconut soup, and dim sum were all fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The ambiance was inviting, and the service was attentive and friendly. A great spot for a delicious and satisfying meal.

Pretty good experience. I went during lunch on a Wednesday. It's wasn't too busy. I got the tofu coconut soup and succulent catfish. It was absolutely delicious. If you are affiliated with UAB and you have your id you get a 10% discount. I would definitely be back!

I do believe I accidentally found The Best Happy Hour in Birmingham!! $3 beers. $4 apps. $11 meals! Spicy tuna roll, seaweed salad (Hayashi Wakame), sashimi appetizer, Pad Prik tofu, and creme brulee for dessert. The menu is huge! So is the restaurant. It was pretty slow when we got there at 5:30 and only a little busier by 7. Our server checked on us regularly. Food came out fast. Sashimi pieces were huge! Sauce with the Pad Prik was delicious. It's casual but still appropriate for a nice dinner date or a big group. Some business folks were dining as well as a handful of other couples.

The staff greeted us with smiles, and the food options are plentiful. Great for meeting friends for dinner. We can't wait to go back for another good meal. The light is very nice.

Service was GREAT! Fantastic server. Food was amazing and the lunch special is a must go!! Big open space with normal Asian dining ambiance. Can't wait to go back!

Seaweed salad. Sounds gross, but it was awesome. Really good dressing and very refreshing.

Service was great! My food was great. 2 people really likes the fried rice, but 2 other people thought their food was just ok. Sushi was very average. I would go with fried rice or one of their noodle dishes. Seaweed salad was awesome.

Used Uber eats for Surin West! Their coconut soup is delicious! Ordered crab angels(crab wontons) and they were a little small themselves but they were so good! Also received Chicken Curry which was so good! Everything was pkg well and hot when I received it.

Great as always. Went with crowd favorite chicken bowl and basil rolls. Enough for lunch tomorrow .

I'm a little biased because Surin West is one of my go-to spots for Thai food. The service is always top-tier, and the food never misses. When we walked in, we were seated immediately, which was a nice surprise since they were pretty busy. Our server was hilarious--super engaging, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The ambiance is just as great as the food--comfortable, welcoming, and perfect whether you're grabbing a casual dinner or celebrating something special. The lighting is warm, the space feels inviting, and even when it's busy, it never feels too loud or chaotic. It's the kind of place that makes you want to stay and enjoy the experience. I ordered the Khoa Man Pai, and wow. The sauce? Absolutely incredible. So rich and flavorful, almost addicting. I could've drenched everything in it and still wanted more. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the rice was fragrant, and everything came together so well. Luckily, I managed to snap a picture before I dug in because this dish deserved it. If you haven't been to Surin West yet, go. And if you have, go back and order the Khoa Man Pai. You won't regret it.

Their chicken stay is the best . Taste good and Fair prices . Lunch menus is awesome too.

5/5 stars for Surin!! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. I honestly think you can't go wrong with whatever you order. We started with the pot stickers, egg rolls, and basil rolls. The pot stickers with the curry is amazing. I would go back and get 3 orders just for dinner. The egg rolls are nice and crispy and the basil rolls are light and fresh. For our entrees, we got the Pad Prik, Roasted Duck with Curry, Wings of Angel, and Thai noodles. Everything was delicious but the Thai Noodles and Wings of Angel stole the show.

My God, I thought fine dining had finally died, especially after covid. Current Charcoal Grill is…read morethe first restaurant I've been to in years that still understands and executes on everything that makes eating out enjoyable. The service is *excellent* with a capital "E." We ate at the bar, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about every single aspect of the restaurant. They have tried everything on the menu themselves. They can describe any one of the imported liquors up on the wall. These are real deal professionals who illustrate just how important the people in a restaurant's front truly are. The food? Delicious. It's a wild grab bag of East Asian fare - Chinese, Japanese, Thai - and it's all done extremely well. The portions are small, which is good, since you'll want to try half a dozen things on Current's very deliberately thought-out menu. The Peking Duck is some of the best I've had. The cocktails are also excellent, with my favorite being a delicious, earthy combination of coconut, lime, and pandan. It's like an extremely upscale tiki drink. I cannot recommend this place enough. Absolutely perfect. 5 stars.

High ceilings and exposed brick are a few of the ways to my heart. If you've seen a post about this place, you've probably seen a picture of the crackly round, artistic dish and wondered what it was. There are dumplings on the underside of it and you break each one off of the crackly part to enjoy. We did enjoy these but I would've loved a soy sauce to dip them in. They came with chili crunch, peanuts, and green onions but I wanted an actual sauce. They were very standard tasting dumplings and there was nothing extraordinary about them unfortunately. As always, we'd looked at the menu beforehand and decided what we wanted. It does state on their website that their menus can change due to freshness and availability. But we'd both decided on an app and entree we wanted only to get there and have none of them on the menu. I do appreciate a rotating menu to accommodate local items, but I would also love for those to be updated on a regular basis. So after rerouting, we decided on the chicken skewers as another app with the dumplings. These were chargrilled, flavorful, and had a nice crust on them. I got shrimp fried rice and Julia got spicy beef noodles. It was fine but I wish the shrimp wouldn't have been cut up. It felt like they chopped them up in order to not put as many in the dish. At $25 for this, I'd like whole shrimp please. There were a few pieces of raw spinach with pepper on the top. I would've loved a sauce of some kind. I would've preferred shrimp hibachi with fried rice from a Japanese place that included vegetables and sauces. This was not *bad* there was just SO much room for improvement. We both agreed that nothing was awful, but for these prices and the hype, we expected more. Our waitress was super friendly. Bonus points because they had match boxes at the host stand! There was a paid parking lot diagonal from the restaurant, so we had to walk through an intersection to get there. There are some spots up front if you can snag one. Overall, we enjoyed our time here but won't be sprinting back.

That's a huge plus; the number of times I've seen referees having to pass on the side because they didn't have utensils! The entree was a chicken pita. It did have a few fresh onions, but I enjoyed them since I didn't have to be the one dragon breathing around the field all day. We did have a choice of roasted potatoes or basmati rice. The potatoes went much quicker than the rice; I had the potatoes and they were fantastic. There was also a tray of chocolate chip cookies provided. I don't think they were frash made; they looked similar to other restaurants generic chocolate chip cookies. They were a nice addition to the lunch, though. They also provided sweet and unsweet tea in gallon jugs.

They also brought a large side box of chocolate chip cookies that were individually wrapped. Everyone loved the wraps, though the fresh onions were a little rough on some of us. This place is my type of vibe!…read more Trattoria ZaZa has been on my list of places to stop at for several years. Parking often deters me but after attending the Italian Festival earlier that day, we had a craving for pizza. I ordered the combo that includes 2 slices of the day with salad. Since I wasn't overly hungry, I offered him one of my slices and he added another slice to the order. We paid and were given a number to place on our selected table. Jazzy music played in the background while we waited on our order to be brought to the table. The natural lighting, while beautiful, made it a little warm in the building. One of the waitresses propped the door open that leads to the restrooms (which are in the hallway near the elevators) in order for cooler air to make its way in. That wasn't a deal breaker, but do be aware of that on warmer days. Our food came out after a short wait. I kept my 3 cheese slice, and gave him the pepperoni one. The cheeses were very rich and the salad, while simple without the frills, was perfectly sized and drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette that was just the right amount. While I enjoyed my meal very much and the ambiance, he wasn't overly impressed with his. He didn't want the fresh herbs on his slices and knocked all of them off, lol. He's a simple guy with simple taste. This is definitely a place I will be revisiting with one of my girlfriends and not him next time as he didn't appreciate what ZaZA had to offer. Everyone we encountered was helpful and courteous. Our food, including drinks, was around $28, which was not bad for a cute, eclectic spot downtown. If you haven't been, make sure to try them out soon. Just don't wait as long as I did to visit!

And of course they had me at poke bowls. It's one of my top 5 things to eat, honestly. But I ordered a Buddha bowl because it's almost the same thing and I felt a little lazy to DIY (not to mention, the Buddha bowl looked tantalizing!) They have other veg options, but I set my sights on that bowl as soon as the friendly counter guy suggested it. It's overloaded with goodness--avocado, deliciously marinated tofu, edamame (yes, it's a protein-rich bowl), tomatoes, shredded carrots, diced cucumbers, greens and more. You're literally devouring the rainbow here, friends. For drinks, they have a modest but decent selection of beer, wine (a decent bubbly in a can!) and sake in addition to soft drinks. The place is so beautiful (and spotlessly clean) with plants dangling from the ceiling and beautiful murals throughout. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd be here all the time.
