This was our first time here. I've heard about this place for years but never went until now. The inside dining area is nicely done. This is a good place for an evening out. Nice live music. The service was great. Our server was knowledgeable and personable. The Lumpia appetizer was really good. I could probably eat that for a main dish. My wife had the Ter Chicken Bowl and the portion was too large for her to finish but the dish was great. I got the Pork done Two Ways. Excellent sauce. Came here for the 1st time earlier this month. Been back again twice this month lol. This place is next level!! The chefs here really know what they are doing and you can tell they have been cooking for 15 years + !! John really cares for his community and his customers. Hard to find restaurant owners who do so. Me and my lady get the chicken fettuccine and a chicken caesar salad everytime and its just unexplainable on how great it is. I loved my experience here. I will be back often. The only reason I didn't go to 5 stars was my fish and chips. The fish was OK, but it was a frozen product that didn't equal the quality of the restaurant. But, my husband's short ribs were fabulous. The vegies were really good. The service was top notch. It was a Saturday night and moderatly busy, but it was quiet. There was a guitarist who added a perfect background. He's there Fri and Sat and we'll go to The chowder, salad and deserts were great. Our waitress was great. Very attentive. We didn't have to ask for anything. We were served quickly. I ordered a spring salad, that was big enough for 2 people. It was amazing. The salad dressing was so good, I would return just because of the dressing (lol). We also ordered the ribeye entree. My steak was cooked perfectly, mashed potatoes, D'licous, If you ordered the bruschetta, it is kind of a smaller portion in comparison to other restaurants. Went to dinner there last night. The entire restaurant was pretty empty for a Thursday night with only one other table dining in. I ordered the ribeye steak and my steak was dry , overly sauced and entire entree was salty. I was really disappointed. The wine and beer was decently priced and had a good selection and our waitress was great as well. The restaurant didn't really have a good vibe to our date night at all. I recently attended an event at this slightly hidden gem in Modesto. I was honestly surprised and impressed with the food and the staff. I say this because most restaurants will cut corners with both when they close their restaurants and are catering to a group but they are different and did not disappoint. Next up was the salad and starter bar. Shrimp cocktail, lots of salads, a charcuterie board....All delicious! Then onto the main event! Beautiful chaffing dishes of scrambled eggs, eggs Benedict, country potatoes, biscuits and gravy, sausage and bacon, French toast, Korean ribs and fried rice. On the other side was a prime rib carving station, made to order omelettes and crepes and pizza. If you still have room, there is a dessert bar. All for $28 per person. Had a reservation for brunch with my family for Easter and was SO disappointed. The bill was over $300 for 5 adults and 1 child. Now, usually, we could justify this price for a buffet, however, there was never any food. Both style of eggs, biscuits, gravy, french toast, sticky buns, etc. Were ALL gone. The only things that stayed stocked were the bacon, sausage, and fried rice. I went back 4 times before I could even get a plate. (30 min after getting there) The serving utensils were never switched out and filthy. Food all over the handles. Eggs were watery, ham was cold, biscuits were hard as hell, "pizza" was absolutely disgusting. Idk how they can justify $50 per person for this. Even $25 for a child. They had a "carving station" that had cold ham and dry lamb. Heat lamps not even on, and there weren't no sides, like veggies or potatoes for it. Wouldn't recommend this place or wouldn't go again, which is disappointing since we used to enjoy going to fina in ripon. You would think knowing it's a holiday, they would've been more prepared. I would've taken my family to Golden Corral in tracy and would've saved over $150. read more
