    Carne Guisada

I'm from New York City. We have alottt of Dominican food. But let me tell you!!! Surrender Cafe really got authentic Dominican food! I accidentally ordered take out for Carne Guisado I really wanted Pollo Guisado but to my surprise I got steak and that's okay! You know why? Because the first bite I took from this carne , it brought me back to my memories with my aunties my mother and my grandmother sitting at the dining room table eating this! I love the fact the meal comes with avocado in nyc they don't do that it's seperate! The arroz con gandules was yummy! The kidney beans were flavorful fresh and cooked to perfection! Please come here if you want a home cooked meal because that's what it gives!!

I chose Surrender Cafe after analyzing 4 other locations. I considered the menu, ambiance, and size of the place. I concluded that the menu and prices were very reasonable. Once my party arrived I saw that the place was just right for my group to sit comfortably. The food here was outstanding and truly authentic Puerto Rican food. Everything was delicious. Each member of my party applauded me for taking the time to suggest and research this restaurant. Although I do not live in the area, I will keep Surrender Cafe in mind when I'm in the area. My mom had pollo a la parilla while I had shrimp scampi. I'm still remembering how flavorful was my dish.

Authentic Puerto Rican food :) I dream about this food quite often. The owners are extremely sweet and you can tell they're passionate about their restaurant. Many vegetarian options and they are delicious ! Such good service and home-y vibes. I'm so grateful this restaurant is so close to home. Go visit for some yummy food that tastes like home

We went to lunch here for the first time. I ordered Taco Salad lunch with beef and Wifey ordered Pollo Isleño lunch with chicken sautéed in onions. They're both delicious. Lots of locals, Puerto Ricans we're eating when we came in for lunch. They have their own parking lot. Friendly serving staff. Clean and well lighted restaurant. Will try to discover other entrées next time.

My friend and I wanted to grab a quick bite. I ordered the grill chicken with onions and my friend ordered steak. We both had rice and beans for our sides. Both plates were yummy! And our server was super sweet and accommodating! Will definitely come back!

Surrender cafe was an unexpected pleasure. It doesn't look like much from the outside but walk in and you will feel like you have entered a restaurant in Puerto Rico. The decor was vibrant and the service was very welcoming and friendly. We were quickly seated and greeted with a description of the specials. The appetizer special, the 360 Platter Sampler came highly recommended so we went with that. The 360° Platter Sampler includes, alcapurrias, mini-canoas beef, sorrullitos, and your choice of two empanadas. We chose beef and chicken. Everything was DELICIOUS!! For dinner we had Pernil Asado Roast pork which was served with arroz con gandules and green salad, the Pollo Isleño Grilled chicken with onions, served with fried green plantains and salad, and the avocado salad which was recommended. Everything was very tasty! We especially enjoyed the apps and the avocado salad was to die for!!! Oh and the bathroom was SPOTLESS!!

However, the flavors were definitely there, which is what matters most. I tried the alcapurria, and while it was decent, I've had better. The chicken inside was a little dry and could have used more seasoning and flavor. On the other hand, the chicken empanada was really good. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and had a nice seasoned taste that stood out. That's definitely something I would order again. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of my lunch, but I also ordered pernil with rice and gandules, as well as baked chicken with rice and gandules. As someone who loves pernil, I have to say that Puerto Ricans make some of the best pernil. It's always well-seasoned, flavorful, and tastes clean rather than overly greasy. The pernil here did not disappoint. The rice and gandules were also very good. While it doesn't quite compare to my husband's aunt's homemade version, it was still packed with flavor and complemented the meal perfectly. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would come back to try more items from the menu. If you're in the area and craving Puerto Rican food, I think it's worth giving this place a try.

I picked up almost $80 worth of takeout so that I could try a little bit of everything. I really, really wanted to love the food here but I didn't. Unfortunately I didn't really find anything that I ordered that flavorful. The food wasn't bad by any means, it just didn't have the delicious flavors that I normally associate with great Puerto Rican food. Stumbled across Latin Port and honestly, this place overdelivered. I ordered the arepas with cheese, and you can immediately tell these are handmade. The texture was perfect and the cheese was high quality, rich, melty, and just really satisfying. I completely dropped the ball and didn't ask for the cabbage toppings (which I later realized are supposed to pull everything together), so that's on me but even without them, they were still a win. Next up were the tostones, which came with this dipping sauce, maybe avocado-lime? I'm not entirely sure, but whatever it was, it worked. It tied the whole dish together and elevated what could've been a simple side into something memorable. Now, the real standout: the Cuban roasted chicken. This tasted like it came straight out of someone's grandmother's kitchen. Super juicy, packed with flavor, and just comforting in the best way. Easily the highlight of the entire meal. I also tried the tres leches cake for dessert, and while everything else hit, this one just didn't land for me. It wasn't bad, just lacking the flavor I was expecting. Overall, though, Latin Port is absolutely worth it. If you're looking for flavorful, home-style food that feels like it's made with care, this spot delivers!
