I visited in the early evening with my mom. It was our first time at this spot and our first time trying Peruvian food and it was so DELICIOUS! The food was seasoned so well (and not overly done for those salt sensitive people like my mom). The chicken was very moist yet the skin was wonderfully crispy. The fish tasted very fresh. It tastes good with or without the lime juice. I would definitely come here again! Ps. It's a casual spot but they do have seating although a lot customers did take out.

Believe it or not...these are leftovers. Huge portions.

Update...stopped by again and had same food. Can confirm it was just as good as last time! Came out in like 5 minutes, too.

I was in the mood for Peruvian after my long drive home. I called in my order of the tallarin saltado and it came to about $15. When I arrived I found parking nearby. I walked in and told the server my name. She said it wasn't done yet so I could have a seat. I waited about another 10 minutes for the food, paid and left. When I got home I dug in and it was very tasty. The green sauce they had was a great add on. The steak was seasoned to perfection. I enjoyed my meal.

Wanted to try a new place, came across Waka-Tay and it did not disappoint. I had the Lomo Saltado as its one of their popular dishes. I knew before I tried it that it was going to be good. It smelled amazing and tasted even better. The beef was extremely flavorful and of course paired well with the rice. I also had a side of sweet plantains that were pretty good. The serving sizes were pretty large as well. I will certainly be eating here more often. A must try.

It's a cute little place to grab some good Peruvian. The food hits home ! The chicken was so juicy and flavorful, the tostones were cooked to perfection, and we can't forget the famous delicious green sauce which was done right! The steak was marinated and cooked to perfection, it was so flavorful. It's not a fancy place so you can dress casual. The service was good, the waitress was super nice and got us everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this place if you want home cooked Peruvian!

Apart from abundant servings and the yummiest green sauce ever, the seasoning on the chicken is always on point. There aren't many comparable restaurants around. It is now my go-to for Latin cuisine.

Great spot for Peruvian cuisine! Ordered for pick up to eat at home. We got the Lomo Saltado (a classic Peruvian dish), the Tallarin Saltado de Pollo (Peruvian-styled linguini with sauteed chicken), and the Camaron Al Ajillo (shrimp and potatoes in a creamy garlic sauce). Two of the dishes came with rice and I also got house salad sides to add some more veggies in my life. When I went to pick up my order, I saw they had a plate of Alfajores - shortbread cookies with caramel - obviously had to get those as well. We shared everything family style and even though we ordered one entree per person, it was tons of food which we will be enjoying more of tomorrow, and I am bursting at the seams.

Dinner here was a nice surprise. My friend got the "Chaufa de pollo" and I a seafood dish with "Tilapia Ceviche". The fish in the ceviche tasted a bit gamy with a hint of earthiness. Not the best option for me. I would probably go with a shrimp option next time. Rice in the dishes were spot on. Portions are BIG! Cozy place with decent service. The bathroom is clean which says a lot. Waitress was helpful. I wish they can add Scallops to dishes.

If you're a fan of Hugo's, you'll absolutely love Caído de el Cielo. The décor is Soo cute, creating a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. While the restaurant doesn't have a liquor license (though you can likely bring your own), they serve a delicious chicha morada, refreshing lemonade, a variety of Peruvian sodas, and your typical American soft drinks. From the moment you walk in, the welcoming staff and excellent service set the tone for a great dining experience. The portions are generous, too! We kicked off our meal with the "Trio Causa," a traditional layered potato dish seasoned with ají amarillo and lime, filled with chicken, tuna, and seafood, topped with pickled onions. It was super yummy! For the main course, we had the Arroz Chaufa, a seafood stir-fry rice dish that stole the show. This dish is loaded with seafood- crab, large shrimp, mussels, and calamari, enough to easily share among 2-3 people. We also tried the Lomo Saltado, and wow! The sauce was incredible, and the steak was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender. Parking can be a bit tricky since it's street parking, but don't let that deter you from experiencing this wonderful place. If you love Peruvian food as much as I do, you won't want to miss it!

Recently, we discovered that there's a much larger part of the restaurant in the back, accessible through the alley off the main street via the rear parking lot. The space is decorated with Peruvian art and vibrant colors. To start, we ordered anticuchos (grilled beef heart skewers). The marinade is packed with delicious. I honestly thought I was eating steak. I ordered the chupe de camarones (shrimp chowder soup). I cannot stress enough how big this bowl of soup is. They do not skimp on the shrimp! It's probably one of the best chupes I've ever had. I ended up taking a large container of it home. Likewise, my partner ordered the chaufa mixto (Peruvian fried rice with chicken, steak, and shrimp). Always ask for the green sauce, absolutely delicious! Just like with my soup, he also had plenty of leftovers. To wash it all down, we ordered chicha (a purple corn drink), which was so good. This place is known for its rotisserie chicken, so we ordered a half chicken to go for the following day. I understand why it's everyone's go-to here, juicy and flavorful. We don't live nearby, but the food, friendly service, and generous portions of delicious dishes make it well worth the trip.

Peru is much more than just Machu Picchu and other archaeological sites. It's a country where its…read morerich culture also shines through its internationally acclaimed exquisite cuisine, which has only recently exploded onto the international culinary stage. It is among the most generous and deeply rooted, with traditions reaching back to the Incas, a wealth of beautiful indigenous ingredients and culinary influences from Spain, Japan, Italy, Africa and China. Jersey is home to a wealth of Peruvian restaurants, found largely in Bergen, Hudson and Passaic counties. Passaic itself is home to the largest Peruvian immigrant population in the Garden State. Like food everywhere today, there is a new style of Peruvian cuisine emerging--so-called nueva comida--forged by Lima's leading chefs like Gaston Acurio and Pedro Miguel Schiaffino. Situated on a busy N Wood Avenue in Linden, some of my colleagues came to this establishment for lunch after a three-year hiatus. A reservation was made by calling into Stancia Peruvian Fusion Restaurant. Upon arrival, our table was ready inside a modern, well-decorated space with music blasting like a lounge to evoke a summer celebratory vibe. The menu is a bit fancier than other Peruvian eateries. We began with a jar of their homemade drink, Chicha Morada, made of purple corn, pineapple, lime, cinnamon and cloves described as fruity and tangy. As appetizers to share, we decided on Piqueo Stancia, Chalaquitas de Scallops, Calamar Frito, and Mini Papas-Rellenas. As the main dish, we opted for Pescado A Lo Macho (Corvina), Quinoa Chaufa with Scallops, Tacu Tacu con Lomo Saltado, Quinoa Chaufa with Shrimps, Quinoa Chaufa with Salmon, Tacu Tacu with Chicken, Pachamanca, and Arroz Chaufa de Pollo. Complimentary roasted corn accompanied the aji verde spicy hot green sauce that started our meal. Each dish is a work of art, not just in presentation but in the authentic flavor not too overpowering, it remained exquisite with a sizeable portion. This restaurant continues to impress us every time with their consistency and good customer service. Stancia has incredible food and a beautiful space, two things many restaurants struggle to get right. All boxes checked.
