I am terrified of dentists shaking,stomach turns all of it. Dr.Dhakar put me at ease during my extraction of a canine which is the most difficult tooth to remove. He did not start the procedure until I told him I couldn't feel a thing. He slowly started removing the tooth as not to break it off and let me tell you my canine was broken before he started and he removed it whole no issues. Even had to stop cause he made me laugh midway through. I started laughing again as he looked down at me. He had my tooth in his hand. He is quick and cares about people about pain and is very good around kids even had my daughter be his helper during extraction ( she handled suction) this is the only dentist I will see. No fear of him or his practice. He is honest and upfront if you don't want something done he isn't going to push you into it. At this practice it is your decision. Remember the days you had a say in what was done and the doc spoke to you as a adult and saved the kids stuff for the kids. I am thankful to him and his staff. They obviously are better than the rest.With that being said I have to respond to Ramos J and his review. Ramos J obviously hasn't dealt with a real doctor or dentist before. Not being able to contact medicaid is a big deal for any physician. If the medicaid lapsed I doubt Ramos would return to pay the doc out of pocket. The dentist also opens on Saturdays but Sundays are rare and he only does so if people need a emergency procedure. That is most likely why he said he was in a hurry. He also mans 2 locations so he might of had a bigger emergency at the other location. Truth is who knows. Truth also is they take medicaid but if they are open on a off day it is up to the patient to be a adult and call ahead to make sure that the insurance can be taken. Medicaid warns of people not taking the insurance if the medicaid offices are closed due to not being able to verify. This is common sense and it seems people need more of it. To sum up this practice is amazing you should use it no pain. He guarantees while you are in his hands you won't feel pain and he's a likable guy. The receptionists are nice and kinda cute too so that doesn't hurt. read more

My experience with Dr. Dhakar was excellent. I had a root canal on a tooth several years ago at a different facility which failed and left my tooth cracked and infected. I was in horrible pain and had bad swelling in my gums and face around the infection site. Dr. Dhakar saw me right away and advised me of all of my options. 1) another root canal and cap which would have cost several thousand dollars or 2) have the tooth extracted (pulled). He was very thorough and gave me plenty of time to make my decision, one that I would be comfortable with. Because of the location of the tooth (way in the back of my mouth/hidden) and the outrageous cost of the root canal and cap, I decided to have the tooth extracted. I was very concerned about the immediate pain and pain afterwards. He assured me that I wouldn't feel a thing when he actually pulled the tooth, so much that he told me he wouldn't even charge me for the office visit, x-rays or extraction if I felt any pain. He also said the pain afterward would be minimal but he would give me a prescription for pain meds just in case and an antibiotic to ward off any future infection. He numbed my mouth first (minimal pain) and then he pulled the tooth. I was still waiting for him to pull the tooth when he said it was already done. I didn't feel a thing. I honestly couldn't believe it was that simple and he came through with his promises. Throughout the entire ordeal, he was 100% professional, he kept me informed and he showed genuine concern for me and my situation. I felt like he really cared about me as a patient. The cost was minimal and I was in and out within 45 minutes. I will definitely use him in the future for my preventative dental needs as well as any emergency dental issues that arise. I was having severe pain from my lower wisdom tooth that had grown in impacted. I went to an oral surgeon who wanted to charge me close to $3.000 because of anesthesia costs along with some others. I left that surgeons office and called Dr. Dhakar. He went above and beyond with my care after my very unfortunate visit at another office and had very accommodating staff. Dr. Dhakar was able to use local anesthesia to numb the spot and cut the tooth out. Some of the things that I really liked about Dr. Dhakar is the fact that he explained the risks from the very get go. He let me know what I was getting into in detail and had a confident way of speaking about the procedure so that I wouldn't be scared away. His staff was very compassionate and made me feel right at home too. Onto the actual procedure. I didn't have an appointment and was considered a "walk in" as I called 20 mins before basically showing up. After the consultation, he was able to begin the procedure with a 30 min wait (which was great because I was able to grab lunch up the road). When I got back to the office, he started promptly and made sure I was 100% numb before he started. It only took him about 30 mins to complete the extraction and stitch me up (which he did amazing closing up). I was given plenty of gauze pads to bring home with me and a paper with instructions for home care. (and a mug and pen too!) If you are looking for someone who has a lot of experience and staff with compassion for their patients, and you like having extremely affordable dental costs instead of going into debt, Dr. Dhakar is the dentist for you! I have known for over a year that I had to have a few molars removed but ignored it for 2 reasons 1) cost 2) cost. Last Wednesday I started experiencing some pain in one of them and started panicking based on prior experiences with dental fees. Tried rinsing, which helped a little, but by Friday I wanted someone to kick my tooth out of my mouth. Through a search engine I found out about Dr. Dhakar and he saw me the next day which was Saturday. What I appreciate about him is that he meets the needs of the patient! I didn't feel like I was cornered in some box with limited choices. He also didn't make me feel like I was some horrible person for not taking care of this earlier. Dr. Dhakar made sure I was completely comfortable. He talked me through everything he was doing. I did not experience pain while he pulled that tooth out. While that was the last thing I was worried about it was great not to have to deal with the pain. If you are getting an extraction I HIGHLY recommend taking the prescriptions to the pharmacy immediately when he hands them to you and take the pain meds right away! They are smart, funny and compassionate. The office is clean, inviting and very "user friendly". DR. Dhakar is an amazing technician; professional, witty and compassionate. Humor is very much a part of this office. It is amazing how much you can be put at ease by confident smiles and relaxed, under-bearing atitudes. This office is available during the times that you need them to be. Like most emergencies, dental issues don't keep normal hours. But, Dr. Dhakar and his staff are here when you need them. Before I vacation in Belize I went to the dentist who said I had to get two teeth pulled. This dentist was terrible, painful to no words, I had to make him stop. Came back to the States and ran across the most wonderful dentist. I am frighten when it comes to going to the dentist. I have not been for years because of bad experiences. But I found a GEM wonderful, patient, understanding..NO PAIN and out came two teeth. WHAT CAN I SAY, NO WORDS CAN EXPLAIN, when someone has a gift. I found Dr. Dhakar on google and am so glad i chose to go to him. I had a horrible tootheache and needed an extraction, at first I was told I would have to pay the whole price up front because I don't have dental coverage at the moment. I couldnt afford to pay it all that day so I decided to go ahead with an office visit and come back for the extraction. After meeting with Dr. Dhakar he talked to me and let me get the toothe extracted that day. I had been suffering a terrible toothache for a while. In the past month it had started to make my head hurt my ear ache n my right side of my face stayed numb. Yesterday I couldn't take it anymore. I had a crown that fell off and the tooth broke Friday night. I called my dentist only to find out that I would have to wait till Monday. I made it one night while in extreme pain and started calling local dentists early Saturday morning. After a bunch of no's, I called Surya Dhakar and they set me up an immediate appointment. I walked in and they were very nice and explained my insurance and out of pocket better than any dentist I've been to. A few minutes later, i got them to fix my tooth and was pain free by lunch. I am so pleased with this place. I have been trying to find someone to pull my tooth at a good price. i have been in pain for days and i called then the gentlemen asked if i could get their soon. Nathan F. First off they are open on the weekend. I had a tooth bother me Friday evening and guess what it's hard to find a good dentist open on the weekend. However, Dr. Surya Dhakar was open , went in signed in and in less than 10 mins I was in a chair getting looked at. Excellent manners and a passionate concern for customer comfort. I had a tooth that broke off and I needed to get it pulled, so I Google search an emergency oral surgeon and Dr. Dhakar came up so I gave them a call and was told to come in that same day.
