First time coming here! I absolutely enjoy visiting health food stores I haven't been too simply to try out new products. This place has so many hard to find items and products I've never seen or heard of. It's a bit pricey too, even for common items I've seen at at various health stores. Pretty busy store too, plenty of people enjoy coming to the water station. This place features a little cafe that has smoothies and brunch menu items. This store is located on Beechmont, and is a decent size, and seems to have a lot of organic and natural food and products. It was pretty busy when I walked in, and there were a lot of foods and snacks to choose from. I'm sure they also have almost any vitamin or supplement you may be looking for. However, I was in particular looking for fragrance free beauty products at the time, and the customer service was not very helpful. She just waved her hand toward the shampoo area, and said she wasn't sure if they had anything. After looking for a while, I realized they did not have any fragrance free shampoos. Or at least I assume they didn't because I couldn't find any. It would have been helpful if they knew whether or not they carried a particular product. Whole Foods offers more selection and better customer service in this area. In any case, there is a lot more the store has to offer, especially in terms of eating organically and naturally. I have been passing Susan's Natural World for years with no real desire or need to pop inside. With the introduction of Fresh Thyme to the Cincinnati area and Kroger stepping up its game in the whole/natural foods department, it didn't seem necessary to venture to a different store for no apparent reason. A couple days ago, my reasoning for Susan's finally came to fruition. I've hopped on the cauliflower pizza crust bandwagon recently. Admittedly, I don't like cauliflower. But there's something about cauliflower pizza crust that makes me feel some type of way. It doesn't taste remotely of cauliflower, and when cooked right, it tastes just like thin crust pizza. However, I've found that many of the major grocery store-bought cauliflower crusts still have a high amount of carbs in it. I've been watching my carb intake, and it seems ludicrous to eat a crust that has the same carb count as regular pizza dough. I found Outer Aisles cauliflower crust on Instagram; they tote having a low carb cauliflower crust option. I then went to their website to find the nearest grocer selling it, and realized Susan's was a short car ride away. Off I went to get my pizza. They have quite a few people working for what doesn't seem like a very big store. I was greeted immediately by the girl working their deli area. She told me to let her know if I needed anything. I appreciate that approach as opposed to the "what can I help you find? Do you need anything?". I was on a mission and she was respectful of that. The store is much more than the vitamins they seem to advertise first. Yes, they have an extensive vitamin/mineral section, but they shouldn't be defined by it. Susan has an impressive amount of vegan/gluten-free/paleo-friendly, etc items. I made my way to the back of the store and found my cauliflower crust pretty easily. The store itself seemed interesting so I toured the aisles before making my way to the register. The prices here are a bit steep, but I completely understand why. They're selling items that are difficult to find in Cincinnati. The cashier was very friendly and also let me know they had the Outer Aisle sandwich thins in stock. I didn't take her up on the offer but I may return for them later. I was very impressed with the service, amount of items, and convenience of Susan's. I think I'll stop by in the future to see what other goodies I can find. read more

This is truly my favorite store in the Beechmont area! I just love all of the staff, and the owners are wonderful too! My 16 month old daughter and I come in often to get our favorite smoothie "The Maui" it's banana, mango, pineapple, coconut oil. (I add chia seeds, and some kind of protein or collagen too). My daughter usually crushes it before I get any but that's ok haha she loves it! They are reasonably priced and absolutely delicious!! Best smoothie around. I went to I love Juice Bar down in Anderson and ordered basically the same thing and it was so outrageously priced and wasn't even close to being as good as the one we get at Susans! So but we don't just go there for smoothies, I buy all of my supplements, beauty products (shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, makeup, etc..) and alot of their food as well. The owners are always there helping the customers find what they need and listening to their customers to try and make sure they have what you want. read more

Susan's Natural World is one of a kind in the Anderson and Beechmont Shopping area. It's the type of store you would expect to see in Clifton, except it's in suburbia! The store has boatloads of vitamins and supplements. They seem to take over the right 1/3 of the store's floor. They sell lots of food and food related items such as healthy breads and bulk grains, nuts, and flours. I saw some really yummy looking local honey that was priced pretty decently. It was about $8 for a giant bottle. They also had unprocessed raw beeswax in big chunks. On the left side you can find some fruits and veggies, but they didn't look so hot to me. Maybe they were sitting there for a while. They do however have some harder to find greens such as kale and dandelion. On the left there is a juice bar and deli where you can get fresh squeezed juice and smoothies. I don't think I will come here again to do any regular shopping as things were pretty over priced. I can find most of the products that they offer that I would be interested in at other local establishments. read more

I busted out my phone to use the Yelp app as I was pulling onto Beechmont ave today. I'm not from this side of town so I figured I'd find some new and enticing place to try. I was not disappointed, but rather surprised actually. I pulled into the plaza where this little shop was, and almost missed it. I had no idea what to expect but figured I'd give it a go because I was starving, and I've mentioned in past reviews that I turn into the 5'2 version of the HULK when I'm hungry, and I really didn't want to bust out my Hulk SMASH on anyone or ruin my clothes since I'd grow angry and they'd shred. I don't think my attire would be work appropriate any longer... It's an odd little place when you walk in, but generally nothing healthy of the vitamin genre has entered my body for years.. so maybe this place is supposed to resemble a pharmacy/dollar store/deli whatchamahoosie? Yeah not really sure, and I was a bit confused as I walked in. I agree with a few of the postings below.. they value their personal conversations with each other over yours.. but once you catch their glance for a moment and lock eyes with your Hulk smash gleam in them, they come over pretty quickly to assist. I ordered the Amish Chicken Salad sandwich and it was SO GOOD. For this chicken salad snob, I was more than pleased. I initially planned on giving the place 3 stars until I ate my lunch. They put in some carrots and a few orange slices as well, and I ate every single bit of it, short from stopping myself from eating the plastic container because it still had some chicken salad residue on it. I also got an organic brownie, thinking it'd taste pretty much like cardboard. Yes, wrong again Beth.. Wrong again. I think this was quite possibly one of the best brownies I've ever had. It was melty in the middle and everything. So much for being good...haha Overall the place itself is sort of odd, the staff were polite, but sort of aloof, but the food more than makes up for it. I recently found myself at Susan's Natural World in Anderson Township, and it is a very good health store. It is similar in size (although probably a bit bigger) than the Toomey Natural Foods store in Milford, and it's a lot newer and nicer. They specialize in health/organic foods, vitamins, and herbs, and also homeopathic remedies and other environmental friendly products. They also have a juice bar/deli that serves juices and smoothies, some coffee, soups, salads, and sandwiches. They also offer B-12 shots every Saturday between 4:00 and 5:30 pm. Susan Parker, a.k.a. "Susan," runs the store and is very dedicated to helping her customers eat right and be healthy. The store has won a Best of Cincinnati award from City Beat, and it's not much of a surprise because it is a great store. The natural food and vitamin/supplement/herb selection isn't all that different from the other similar stores in town, but it's juice bar/deli and outstanding service make it stand out. read more

I'm a health nut! And I generally know what supplement I am looking for. With that said, I feel like you have to have an idea of what you are looking for when you go into this store. They carry a lot of supplements!! They also have food items and those are excellent as well. I like the staff here they are polite, friendly and will give you general information. I found some very unique items here that I wasn't able to find anywhere else. This place is definitely worth a trip. I will be coming back here for years to come. read more

I really love Susan's Natural World. I was looking for a few ingredients for a face mask and they explained a better way of making it that involved fewer items, saving me some money. A staff member led me to the areas of the store that had what I needed. Be sure to check out the freezer/refridgerated stuff as well. Finally, get a delicious smoothie! I can remember a simpler time when I was 6 or 7, sitting at the stools in Susan's Natural world, watching the staff mix and blend the smoothies with Beechmont's traffic whizzing by behind them while I snacked on an oatmeal cookie and sipped a strawberry smoothie. I have been here twice to pick up supplements, and both times came away with that feeling that I could step outside, get hit by a bus, and they wouldn't even look up or notice. I have always had an issue with places where I have to essentially do a song and dance to get any help. When I first walked in today, I did not receive a greeting or even a glance, however the older lady who came in behind me did receive one, followed by a "Can we help you find anything?" My most recent visit involved simply asking if they had a product. After a minute of the clerk searching, the answer was "Hmmm, no I don't think we have anything like that." The clerk then walked away. My hope was that they had some semblance of an inventory, perhaps on a.....computer. No, they did not. So I searched on my own for 5 minutes, found what I needed, and went to purchase it. Now I'm not the type of person to rub something in, so I thought I would see if they even noticed that I had found the product I had just asked them to help me find, if nothing else so that they would know they carried it. Naturally, they simply continued their personal conversation, as I was clearly a burden for them to acknowledge. Otherwise the store looks tidy and they probably have about anything you needed, just be sure you don't need to ask for help. read more

I was just there today, Mon 5/5/14. I must just have bad luck because whenever I go into Susan's, which is about once a year, I always leave empty-handed. Today, I was looking for an essential oil, sandalwood. The nice lady showed me where all the oils were. I saw the testers for the various oils, as well as a sign not to open new bottles. The sandalwood tester smelled rancid. It did not smell like sandalwood AT ALL. I moved over to another set of oils (different brand) but there was no tester available for the sandalwood fragrance. Going back to the first set of oils, I asked the nice lady if we could open a new bottle of the sandalwood because the tester smelled rancid. She said to me, "If you open it, you've bought it," and not in a particularly friendly way. My thinking was to suggest she open another bottle of the oil since the tester was faulty--which to me does not sound like a crazy idea. I mean, if the tester is bad or unavailable, how am I, the customer, to know whether I indeed want the product? Then she just kind of stood there. If you can't help a customer, at the very least, apologize instead of flashing some kind of weird, repressed anger at her. And get new testers. Or offer other scents....something. My lesson for the day: Stick with Whole Foods. read more

I am torn about leaving a review. 1. I have been going to Susan's since I was little. Being the only health-food oriented store on the East side near my house, this place was a haven for my family. We used to get b-12 shots, healthy snacks and supplements, etc. 2. The change of management has really shifted the feeling of the store. It just doesn't seem like the manager or the new people hired have a passion for health food or providing their customers with a good experience. Some of the new employees are downright rude or dismissive. 3. I LOVE Kelsey. She has been working there for at least a few years and stayed after the change to new owners/management. She is helpful, big-hearted and really seems to have done her research. I don't want to give low stars because I would like to see Susan's stay around and improve their offerings. This place has been (like a said) a haven on the East side for people needing specific vitamins and supplements that may be challenging to located otherwise. However, if the management doesn't work on hiring people that are passionate about health food & have good attitudes (I have worked in health food as a manager, clerk, cashier etc.) then I believe they will lose even dedicated customers. I certainly do not expect to have my *ss kissed by customer service, but being met with apathy and a dismissive attitude are not going to keep me coming in. Honestly, I call before I arrive to see if Kelsey is working because I know my experience will be better & she will help me find what I am looking for. I wish I could get over to Susan's more often! I love the shop and I've gone there since I was a kid. The juice/smoothie bar is great, I just wish it was open longer throughout the day! They have tons have great products and is the only store that I know of around the Beechmont area that has nice, organic materials. There should be more places like this! read more

The new management staff are very unprofessional I was treated with very rude staff and there prices are very high when you can get shipping at least 50% cheaper than there prices there manager looks like a redneck type attitude and I feel that he does not have the background to run a vitamin store. This is a good store. They have Field Roast sausages. That's basically the only reason I go here. Is there other stuff here? Yeah, the shelves are full of stuff. What stuff? I don't know. Who cares. Susan's is the one health food store in Anderson and a very good one. They have a ton of food for special diets ie gluetin free on top of a very good selection of suppliements. They always bend over backwards to help you find a product, and they all can because I've never seen a fat chick behind the counter. FYI- Susan is smart and only hires women. She is also dedicated to her customers, most of whom are regulars. Honestly no health food store is going to be cheap, and Susans is no exception. You need to pull coupons out of Reach mag to get $5 of $25 or get in their discount club (no hassle.) Susan is herself a world of knowledge about what you should and shouldn't put in your body. She probably saves someone a trip to the doctor at least once every day she works. Some of this rubs off on her veteran staff. All in all, they make you feel welcome and you always find what you need. read more
