Spices and seasonings stall for Colonel De.
    Rick B.

Neat little spice and seasonings shop in the Findlay Market. It was our first time at the market so we walked the entire length and Colonel De is at the end...glad we found it. It is very much like the Penzey's that we have in the Chicago area and in some ways even better. Prices were very reasonable and the number of seasoning blends was large. We picked up some Buckeye Sugar Blend, Sam Adams Summer Ale Rub, Okie Dokie Seasoning, and a grilling assortment of 12 rubs and spices. Besides having a creative mind for naming their blends, they had a nice layout of the merchandise and numerous gift packages for purchase. Nice service from the laid back employees. We will return here on our next trip to Cincinnati...a great find in the Findlay Market.

All of our spices to take home!

You guys! Colonel De offers cooking demonstration classes at their Ft Thomas (KY) location. I just took one and it was great. This class was using cheese powders (more sophisticated than it sounds). We watched Chef Jeff make 4 different dishes with them and everyone got to try everything. We also were sent home with "swag bags" full of the spices we used, and recipe cards. A great value and a fun way to spend a couple of hours. A lot of staff were there and were happy to answer all of the spice/cooking/etc questions we had. They said they post info for future classes on their FB page- check them out! Then of course, stay after the class browse the delicious spices.

They say 'variety is the spice of life'- well, nowhere is that more true, quite literally, as at Colonels Gourmet. If you need it or want it, they've got it-heck, they've got all sorts of things you didn't even know you needed! No matter what I say here, the only real way to experience it is to visit yourself!.

Love this place. They sell an ounce of spice for $3 which is reasonable. They'll recommend what to put stuff on.

This place is like a kid going to the candy store. It's every cooks dream! They sell olive oils, sauces, hot sauces and of course spices and rubs. They make their fresh spices in house. Are you on a low sodium diet? They got you covered. It was so hard to pick because I want to buy them all. We ended up purchasing: -Western Taco Blend -Bourbon Smoked Chili Powder (Low sodium) -Honey Balsamic Glaze -Truffle Gold -Graza Drizzle EVOO All I believe they weighed around 2 oz. and at a reasonable price. I've been to the Findlay Market a long time ago so I might need to revisit since that is closer. I know I'll be back. I've already used the taco seasoning and the chili powder. Both are amazing and have great flavor. If you like to cook and want to spice up your meals, this is the place to go. Staff is super friendly and helpful. FYI, they do have a website you can order online.

This place had SO many different sauces, seasonings, spices, rubs, and oils that it was almost overwhelming. We almost wanted one of EVERYTHING. Plus the staff were super friendly and helpful. They let us try some of the seasoning before we bought them. We started coming up with great ideas for everything we tried and we hadn't even left the store yet. Here's what we got: -Western Taco Blend -Bourbon Smoked Chili Powder (Low sodium) -Honey Balsamic Glaze -Truffle Gold -Graza Drizzle EVOO We will absolutely be going back for more. We tried the truffle gold seasoning one some potatoes recently and it was awesome. We also used the taco blend on some ground beef which was insanely good. I'm planning on using the bourbon smoked chili powder one some grilled steaks very soon.

Folks it doesn't get any better than this. Ummhumm. This little shop has about everything you can think of. Covered wall to wall with great quality and a lot of local items from art. toys, fashion, snack and dip mixes scarves. You name it they might have it. You have to check out The Cozy Cottage in Bellevue. It's a perfect fit in the historic up and coming area. I believe The Cozy Cottage has been there a long time. This was my second visit. Super friendly clerk. Interesting when we arrived to get our Savory Cracker mix no one was in the store. Not a real concern since it is located in Bellevue which is one of the towns left today where they could pr leave your doors unlocked and keys in your car without worry. In comes the clerk with a warm cup of local coffee from the coffee shop across the street. This place will bring you back to simpler times. We chatted for around 15 minutes and bought a few more dip mixes. I can't say enough about The Cozy Cottage. I will pass the word along and definitely be back again. No doubt.

American Girl Doll dresses. Little kid accessories. More learning base items for kids like placemats with math on them. Outside of the kids stuff they had a bunch of cards for Easter. They had cookie cutters, tea towels and also some locally made food. Like Olive oils and soups and beer bread. The lady running the place was super nice and welcoming. She was nice to my cousin Jack too and I really appreciated it. I would suggest going to this place for small cute gifts, at home decorations or things for your kid or anyone else's. Also, it may not be a cottage but it is cozy in this store and it smells super good.

You're not going to find olive oil of this quality at the grocery store, and you'll enjoy the huge variety of flavors of both oils and vinegars. They will suggest pairings, and give you recipes with which to impress your family and friends. Sometimes they even have foods to sample. I like to put just vinegar (apple, black cherry, or blackberry/ginger) on a salad as a fat-free dressing. For Thanksgiving, I sauté the onion and celery for my dressing/stuffing in their sage and mushroom olive oil for added flavor. One visit and you'll never get your oil or vinegar anywhere else.

The ladies mixed some of the balsamic and olive oils together to show how well some of them pair together.
