A great location for lunch- I ran in 30mins before closing and the staff was excellent, accommodating, did not make me feel rushed or unwanted. My friend and I were the last to leave- the staff went to have lunch in the back, but often checked if we wanted more tea.. I felt every bit welcomed and it was greatly appreciated as I was having a hard day. I recommend the five herb tea- you'll enjoy the entire top and feel healthier with every sip. The menu has extensive Sushi options, however I opted for shrimp tempura and salad which came with rice and small miso soup- the shrimp were perfect! Golden brown, crispy- not oily.. the salad was made with the asian ginger dressing (my favorite, I wanted more). Lunch was enough to fill me but not cause me to feel stuffed- so I could get back to shopping. The beautiful asian decor is filled with many interesting art pieces and designs such as hanging paper umbrellas, and origami. The open concept kitchen is very entertaining to watch your sushi being made. Looking forward to impressing other friends with this experience.

This has been my favorite sushi restaurant in the Atlanta area for nearly ten years. Service is always friendly and food comes out quick. It's also very affordable sushi. My go to appetizers are the gyoza or the tempura and I love the Agnes Scott Roll as well. They're open Wednesday-Saturday!

The BEST Sushi in the area since the 90s. Cold Kirin! Been coming here since 97. They know our family, and bring Miso soup n rice for Cavin before we are comfortable. Love this place!

3/5 Service: Stopped by for lunch today, this is my first time trying this place. Upon entering, I was greeted and told to sit anywhere I wanted. I opted for take-out instead and was given the lunch and sushi menu. I wanted to see the pricing of the sushi, and the host was nice enough to help me with a sheet that had pricing. Once I received my order, I realized they had forgot my miso soup. I got it once I went back in but then I had to ask for a spoon. Food: The miso soup was honestly the star of the entire meal. I was not impressed with the rolls at all. The salmon skin roll was just okay, but better than the spicy crunchy shrimp roll. For one, it was not spicy at all, secondly the seafood it was wrapped it was basically inedible. I literally could not chew it, which is the first time that's happened. I wish I could've gotten a refund to the food alone, $19 down the drain. Ambiance: The restaurant was nice, clean, and quiet. Would be nice for lunch or dinner, especially since they have plenty of seating. Overall: I will not be returning, although the service was decent. They food turned me away; this was definitely a one and done for me.

Been going back and forth in regards to this spot. Location is cool. Food is so-so. It's tough for me to be critical of someone who opens their restaurant and tries to provide their gifts. I can make up a bunch of stuff about what happened to the restaurant, but what I can report on is only what we tried. For our experience, we're one and done. The quality of the fish is not there and the presentation isn't classic. It's Americanized or Supersized...and that's not traditional cuts or preparation. The sushi rice may have just been rice because we tasted nothing of what should be in the rice. The slices were huge, not complaining about the offering, just recognizing that it changes the taste and the experience. Fried oysters were actually very good! Full disclosure, served in a 5 star restaurant with incredibly fresh fish and a disciplined presentation bringing traditional Japanese to the States without compromise. The back and forth in my mind was due to the fact that if I ever give less than 4-5 STARS, I usually decide based on a feeling if this will even matter to the proprietor and if improvement is on the radar. Not sure, yet willing to try.

I had the tempura shrimp, various kinds of sushi, plum wine, and green tea. Everything was amazing!! I got there between 5 and 6 which was perfect because I obviously beat the mad rush. Bonus points for it being within walking distance of my hotel. I would definitely eat here again.

This is a GREAT sushi place. Don't let the other reviews put you off. Service was spectacular, with staff checking on everything from the green tea flavor, to prompt service. Prices are excellent, and there's a great variety of non-sushi menu choices.

Sushi Ave has two locations, one right on Decatur Square and the other on Ponce. You can find tables outside in the courtyard, there's a sushi bar and of course seating inside. I was looking forward to dining outside but there were too many flies in the area so I decided to dine inside. The sushi was just okay for me at 4 stars but the service is outstanding at 5 stars. I was immediately welcomed, checked on periodically while I was waiting for a friend by the hostess. Our waiter was very pleasant, answered our questions with a smile, gave honest recommendations and didn't rush us. Everyone was very friendly, even the Sushi Chefs greeted us. It's a very warm and welcoming environment. I love sushi and was looking forward to this meal for a few days so I ordered my favorites: Tempura Shrimp - $6.50 it tasted like something was missing, nothing special and tasted like TJs brand Seaweed Salad - $3.50 tasted fresh and good taste One cool thing about their menu is that they have pictures of all of their items which makes it helpful with ordering, especially if it's something you're not familiar with. They even have drawings of their rolls which lists the ingredients, it's like a sushi diagram. Love it! Rainbow Roll - 8 pieces - large pieces of fish and large rolls Shrimp Tempura Roll - 8 pieces Yellowtail Shashimi - 2 large meaty pieces Overall it's a decent spot in the area, honestly the service is what would have me coming back as a repeat customer. In addition to sushi and sashimi offerings, Sushi Ave serves traditional Japanese cuisine. These dishes include teriyaki plates and Japanese noodles such as soba and udon.

Honestly, just deliciousness. I wasn't really feeling sushi this night but decided to impulsively for for the sushi and I could not be happier.

I really enjoyed my experience at this eatery. The service was nice and timely. The food was exquisite. I highly recommend it for anyone, especially if you enjoy Japanese cuisine.

The Crunchy Spicy tuna roll and Takoyaki was one of the best I've had in Atlanta so far! Only been here around 6 months but this has quickly become one of my favorite places to go. Wait staff was very friendly, sat my friend and I down quickly and reviewed the menu and specials with us.

Super Crunchy Roll is in the building.

I love eating here. The food is consistently delicious and the staff is courteous and friendly.

This is the smaller Sushi Ave loacation, on the square and directly next to the Marta station. Parking is to the rear of the restaurant or in the Court parking deck. Standard sushi fare, wide selection. The food is good and the service was great. Perfect after hours meet up for dinner and/or happy hour

I started with the basil spring rolls which were delicious, though their sauce is a bit thicker than what I had at another place last week. It was still delicious and refreshing. But you only get 6 pieces instead of 8 which sucked for the price. (No pic bc I was hungry) I ordered the panang curry with shrimp and it was delicious. I will admit it was a bit too sweet for my liking but it was still good and edible. It came with a side of steamed rice. Another thing to mention- idk if it's me eating veggies straight from the ground the last 2 years or what, but the veggies taste fake and waxy. They were good, but for some reason, they didn't taste natural and not sure why. I still ate them though. I was impressed to see that they have happy hour 3-6 M-F and some other specials. We sat outside and the weather was good. They have a covered outdoor patio that can seat quite a bit of people. Service was okay. The lady at the front desk isn't really friendly or polite. Idk if it's a language barrier or she just didn't want to work that day. Our server was nice and chipper though! And they do validate parking. It's a free 2 hrs in the garage with validation. Overall, I'd go again- esp to check out their happy hour.

Items requested wasnt brought out. Had to chase het down for refills. Had a slight attitude because I informed her the water glasses that were sitting in the table were visibly dirty and thats the reason I turned the empty glasses upside down. She had to wander all over the restaurant to look for clean glasses that she removed for unoccupied tables. I watched her later collect 8 tables worth of dirty glasses lol but she gave me the attitude like I was nit picky person lol its all good I chuckled myself and didnt hold it against her. I was vindicated when I watched her scurrying around and couldn't immediately find clean glasses. The restaurant had 2 parties finishing up. Not busy at all. Food: 3 stars; we only came here because THAICOON (around the corner) was closing. I highly recommend thaicoon, ive been going since 2008. The California roll was decent, the shrimp spicy basil fried rice was good and i was impressed they didnt skimp on the shrimp, the coconut chicken soup was good. The star of the show for me was the sweet tea. The food wasnt bad but it didnt knock our socks off either, it could've used more seasoning. It's more like commercial Thai vs authentic Thai. Price point: 2 stars: the items I described above came to roughly $53, totally not worth it! Lol the portion size didnt match the price point. At thaicoon i wouldve paid $46 for the same items. Maybe $7 isn't a big difference to alot of you but that extra $7 there wouldve gotten me an appetizer at thaicoon or i could've put another $10 with it and got another dish. Cleanliness: 3 stars: 3 tables needed bussing, dirty water glasses ob several tables lol, they was having a rough night. Overall; I wouldnt come back if thaicoon is open. If thaicoon was closed and i really wanted thai food i would maybe give them another try. I wasnt bad and im not trying to slam them, my dinning experience couldve been better. Plus side is they do validate your parking ticket if you park in the garage. I would give them a solid 3 stars, had the portion sizes been a tad bigger or cheaper, or had the service been better i wouldve given them 4 stars.

My score would be lower if that was the case. I've tried this restaurant a few times for lunch, and I've enjoyed it each time. They're always accommodating for about groups of 8 without a reservation for the most part, and the staff has always been really kind and patient. I've tried some of the raw fish items here, and they've tasted surprisingly fresh although I've definitely had better elsewhere (still pretty good for the price!). Recently, I tried their Thai Style Spicy Basil dish for the first time. It definitely could've been spicier, but it's probably made on the milder side for those that may not be able to handle their spice because this dish is typically spicy (I've made it in Thailand myself). I wish that some of the hot dishes could have more spices/ingredients added to have more of the explosion of flavor I'm used to from Thai dishes, but it's still fairly tasty.

The service was impeccable and there's even a call button at your booth to discretely call your server. Our Japanese waiter was so friendly and very helpful. Oh and the booths are the way to go. Cozy and intimate so you feel like you're just with the company you came with. Haven't really seen many places like this lately and I must say, it's very appealing. And then there's the food. Every single dish that we had was a wonderful. My Japanese mother thoroughly enjoyed her meal at Nagomiya and commented that it was all very authentic. Her favorite is always chawanmushi (steamed egg) which is usually rare to find at restaurants. And the fish was all very melt in your mouth fresh. But not only do they do sushi well, their tempura was perfectly battered and fried and the hamachi kana was cooked just right. Highly recommend!
