Before getting started on this review, I want to preface that my score is based with the full understanding that this isn't authentic Thai cuisine by any means. My score would be lower if that was the case. I've tried this restaurant a few times for lunch, and I've enjoyed it each time. They're always accommodating for about groups of 8 without a reservation for the most part, and the staff has always been really kind and patient. I've tried some of the raw fish items here, and they've tasted surprisingly fresh although I've definitely had better elsewhere (still pretty good for the price!). Recently, I tried their Thai Style Spicy Basil dish for the first time. It definitely could've been spicier, but it's probably made on the milder side for those that may not be able to handle their spice because this dish is typically spicy (I've made it in Thailand myself). I wish that some of the hot dishes could have more spices/ingredients added to have more of the explosion of flavor I'm used to from Thai dishes, but it's still fairly tasty. read more

Had a craving for some sushi and didn't want to travel too far, stumbled upon this place and I'm happy I did! It was quiet on a Sunday afternoon; but did pick up traffic the longer I sat. The restaurant is clean and decorations were nice. They were playing subtle jazz/elevator music. I sat at the bar where the staff was making sushi. The staff here is so friendly! They checked on me multiple times and made sure I was happy with everything I ordered. Everything I ordered was really good and fresh! Since I chose to sit at the bar, the sushi chef gave me her recommendations on how to eat or pair the sushi as she was plating my selections. 10/10 I'll be back. read more

This is my second time with a large group at this restaurant. For the second time, I am impressed. The service is wonderful. Efficient, helpful, and right on time. The way they worked the group through the evening by bringing orders out in waves left no one feeling left out or forgotten. I ordered the spicy salmon roll and red curry with a tiki shirt cocktail to drink. Fab-U-lous! All the flavors and temperatures were good. My only complaint was that it could have been a bit spicier but I know to ask for that next time. I came here for dinner and it surprisingly wasn't busy at all! We got the super charger roll and thaicoon clay pot. Service was pretty fast. There is plenty of parking in the plaza. The restaurant is nicely decorated. The food was amazing and service was great! I ordered the sushi sashimi special lunch box with miso soup. My colleagues ordered shrimp tempura, ginger salad, shrimp fried rice, ginger chicken, and tempura lunch box. It was so good, fresh and presentable. The lunch portion also comes with choice of salad, miso soup, or coconut soup. There is a full bar, sushi bar, and plenty of seating available during lunch hour. This has been my go-to lunch spot for years! Great lunch specials and the service & staff are always excellent.

First and last time here. My sushi was NOT good at all. I decided to have take out, and im not sure why my sushi wasn't fresh when I received it and got home. It lacks flavors, and it just tasted like rice with the salmon meat I ordered. The inside from what I saw looked small, but open. The customer service (well the young lady who helped me at the desk) was sweet. I don't think I'll try this place again. The food really isn't that good. read more

I loved the ambiance! Colors were natural and neutral, inviting you into calm as soon as you walk in. Be aware they're closed everyday between2:39 and 5pm so you know they're good! Not only was our order a bit wrong bc the waitress didn't hear us right ( she was wearing AirPods in one ear) but also the sushi tasted very very fishy. We had such a difficult time finding a table, as there was a foul smell at the first table and still apparent but not as strong at the final table we sat at. We were starved and had to eat so we decided to not go elsewhere. There was a sign stating that they were short staff, but the events that I believe could have been better handled were not dependent on the lack of staff. I even tried to help out by finding my own flatware because there were no flatware set at the table. When I ordered an Arnold Palmer, which normally comes with free refills, no mention by the server that they had to use canned lemonade and each refill was charged a full drink price. Which normally I would not have mind, if I were informed ahead of time and if I had the opportunity to decide ahead of time. I don't particularly care for canned lemonade. I had been given a refill and THEN was told they had to charge me after they made the Arnold Palmer when I asked for a manager, he just ignored my request and removed the drink and did not give me a choice to keep it or not! NO Manager ever came and I was not sure if he ever notified one or not. I did not have time to ask him and wait because by the time our lunch was finished, it was already 2 hours! As for the food, the Pad Thai was probably on the worse I have ever had list! It had the taste but the noodles were over cooked and cut short and piled in a big lump on my plate! Thaicoon is one of the most underrated sushi restaurants in Atlanta. They have such an awesome bright welcoming interior with a massive sushi bar that has plenty of seating. The employees are always so helpful and incredibly kind. They have a lot of different apps, entrees, and sushi rolls. It was pretty loud so our conversation paused a bit while it passed. The hurricane roll I had wasn't that tasteful. I feel like it was missing something. This has been a staple dinner outing in my family for years! It's affordable, and the menu is expansive with options for all palettes and dietary restrictions. Free parking, and usually easy to get a table! Food always comes out quickly, and it's a a good place for groups or a date night because it's generally pretty quiet. It's been a couple years since we came back here again, but it remains a solid place for Thai and Japanese cuisine in the area. The one caveat I would say is that some flavors seem a bit more Americanized/ less flavorful than traditional Thai cuisine. Things that are reportedly spicy are definitely not spicy at all. Came here for lunch with work friends, and I had no clue this restaurant was hidden in the back where it is. But it is located in a shopping complex, so there's plenty of parking. I should mention if you're indecisive like myself it might take you a while because the menu is huge seems like, but there stuff in there for everyone, even We started with edamame. It was was okay tasted fresh and hot. I also got the miso soup not pictured but very good as well. But how can you need up miso am I right. Now as for my rolls I always get the double shrimp roll it is so good and fresh and tasty. Fried shrimp, cucumber, avocado, topped with more shrimp and avocado and spicy sauce. Bomb. All the rolls are enough to share. Unless you're really hungry lol. My fav is that mummy role though it's huge and comes with so much stuff inside and on top of it. I have worked in this area forever so sometimes I am shocked to see that this place is still a favorite in the area and with coworkers. It's fine. And fine for me is like I'll eat it if it's free or I've been out voted for a group lunch. The rice seems to have too many add ins for my liking.
