Crispy , fresh and served hot, the tempura couldn't have been better. My friend had teriyaki chicken and beef, 2 pc's of tuna sushi and garlic edamame. He loved everything and he's very fussy. Came during our visit for Coachella. Sushi was great. Menu clearly states what is in the rolls, so ordering with food restrictions was a breeze. Our sushi chef has been making sushi for 20 years and was super friendly. All of the fish tasted fresh and the salmon was amazing. We'll be back! Another amazing dinner with friends, but even more amazing is the food here. We've kept coming back to enjoy sushi here, in Desert Hot Springs, yes, not Palm Springs, etc. I decided to try a different roll, the Baja roll. Oh my gods, it was huge, and so beautiful and more importantly, delicious with a nice kick to it. Chef or Itamae, is SO friendly as his wife. A friend asked to go out so we did. It was her turn to pay, but she seemed to be resentful. The first sign was that she ordered only cut rolls for both of us only cut rolls. That's not what I would've ordered, but I was willing to roll with it since she was paying. She got very angry and left. I don't know why she paid the bill. It's so tightly packed in this little restaurant too many tables and not enough space. Our conversation went to the other people in the room. I think my friend was embarrassed. I'm not sure but overall, it was not a good experience. I'll remember not to go there again. I wasn't going there in the first place. Came here by myself, been wanting to try it since I've moved to DHS a couple years ago. Finally got around to it. A lot nicer than I thought it would look inside. Nothing crazy and fancy just nice and quaint and an enjoyment for just myself. There were two other groups there but eventually left and I was the only customer left. So service was quick. Got the spicy garlic edamame. I always like to get this at every ramen or sushi place I go to. Most of them are hit or miss. This one I enjoyed. Not the best I've had but I did finish it all to myself, so that's a sign that it was good. Got the Tony Montana roll, ate that all. It clocks in at $20. No surprise. I really like it. They do have a decent menu and things to offer. Why I'm giving it 5. Guess is more so 4.5. I wasn't blown away but for DHS standards I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it more so than other hole in the wall sushi places in nicer areas. Due to the selection in the menu, and it being a nearby sushi place. I definitely will come back and try other things in the menu. Probably give their ramen a shot. Enjoyed my first experience and enjoy the small simple gem of the place. Guess the only thing could nit pick at was the hot tea that they gave me. Inedible and disappointing. The salmon roll had very bright colored salmon that wasn't fresh seemed like stuff you get at Trader Joe's that you need to cook. The crispy rice was nothing but -- we got lumps of mushy rice with tempura batter over it. The cucumber salad was not authentic either--chunks of cucumber (when it should be thinly sliced) with no vinegar mirin flavor and had unnecessary sprinkles of imitation crab. The albacore crispy onion was also not very fresh, no real taste and bad texture and I thought we'd get a ton of those crispy onions but it was literally chunks of onion they battered and deep fried but not crispy. Most went into trash but ate the crunchy roll bc it was mostly imitation crab and frozen shrimp tempura. Truly mind blowing (and this is coming from somebody who thinks Kura Sushi is good haha). The sushi was phenomenal in my opinion a lot better than places I've been to coming from Orange County, We got the Albacore special roll! So glad we found Sushi Bella as the rolls were amazing & I'd dare say better than some of our go to places back in LA. I got these 3 rolls. Rainbow Roll - A simple classic. The fish here tasted really fresh and wasn't fishy at all. Was delicious. (4/5) Red Dragon Roll - Thought it was going to be in the shape of a dragon but it wasn't really. Flavor wise it was good. Sauced up roll with some shrimp tempura and fish. (4/5) Caterpillar Roll - My favorite roll out of the ones I got. Tons of avocado and eel. Fire!! (4.5/5) This is definitely the goto for sushi/Japanese food in the city of Desert Hot Springs. Three special rolls ran me about $58 which I guess isn't that bad. It's a small restaurant with like 8 tables and a sushi bar. It's pretty good! We were in town visiting for a couple of days and decided to cool down with some sushi and let me tell you, this place did not disappoint! From the delicious rolls to the service and hospitality, everything was amazing . Whenever we make our way out there again, we will definitely be coming here again.
