The only thing I didn't like was that the rolls were falling apart when we tried to eat them and it was messy. I had to use a fork to get the food in my mouth. And another star for shoving Christian religion down diners' throats. I resent anyone pushing any religion in a restaurant, but especially surprised to see scripture verses on a Japanese menu. It's been about a year and a half since I've been to this restaurant and it used to be my favorite when I was in the area. I was very excited to be in the area and to try it again but I was pretty disappointed with the visit and with all of the changes. It was 8 pm on a friday night so the restaurant was understandably busy so I was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away unfortunately the table was not wiped down. The server did take care of it as soon as she noticed. The service was fast and friendly. The disappointing part was the food and prices. Understandable that prices has gone up just like everywhere else, but it was sad to see that they got smaller. The sushi was okay, I would rate it about a 7 out of 10. We ordered two rolls, the shrimp tempura and the Philadelphia roll. Personally, I felt the rolls were a bit small for the price compared to other sushi spots. The waiter was very sweet, but they definitely need more staff. The place was not very packed, yet the waiter seemed overwhelmed and occasionally forgot which tables the rolls were going to. Our personal favorite was the shrimp tempura roll. read more

The portions of the fish are very generous and the freshness of each bite was quite surprising. The prices here are slightly higher than what I'm used to, San Diego, but are you truly surprised when we're at a desert. We stopped by here for a quick bite while in the neighborhood. I always have the same thing and today I decided to try something different. I got the miso ramen with pork, belly and vegetables. It was unbelievable. I couldn't imagine all those flavors coming together so perfectly. I'm so glad I took a chance on something different. I feel like Yelp lied with this rating. As soon as we sat down, I felt like I had entered a Quentin Tarantino movie. At the strip mall is it open. We do get seated quickly . The vibe was off quickly . Between the huge sign that you can buy $1000 gift card and get a luxury gift bag. Our order was taken quickly. However, not lot of prices were listed. Needless to say we got two rolls didn't enjoy it and one Coke. The food was not great and the staff never came to talk to us again. It was not good. I enjoyed the sushi but the chicken teriyaki was like, shredded. Never seen it in that form before. Tasted good though. I wasn't a fan of the salad dressing. Service was okay. Everything in this restaurant looks clean, high quality, and new. From the chairs to the menu to the disposable chopsticks (they had designs on them). The food here is great. The fish is fresh and prepared well. We ordered a few rolls, the standout was the Ichiban roll. The soup for the udon was a tad sweet but otherwise good. Plenty of free parking in the plaza the restaurant is located in. Driving on the street the restaurant looks closed because they seem to have blacked out their windows. Walked in and was seated right away. The booths are very comfortable. A very warm welcome into the restaurant! On a very hot day, you can find it nice and shaded inside. The ambience is very beautiful. We started off with a sashimi platter with some of the best fish. Very delicious served on a seashell plate. We also ordered a crunch roll with spicy salmon, which was very delicious. We also ordered tempura udon and salmon handrolls! Found this place on-line, had good reviews so decided to give it a try. The place was very slow, Monday, Memorial Day at 6pm. Service was prompt, but not as attentive, especially since it was slow. Most of us order the 3 combo platter. I had the tonkatsu, tempura and sushi for $30. Add $3 for most everything else, beef, salmon, etc... kind of ridiculous. The Miso Soup was hot and tasty. The combo platter came out with generous portions and a great presentation. Everything was good except for the tonkatsu, which was extremely tough and not edible. It was battered and fried nice, but the pork was the worst. I took it home and cut into small pieces, added to sauce and a couple of eggs Donburi style and the pork was still tough and hard to eat. Maybe I should have put it in the blender or pureed it and out into a dumpling??? They pay customers a free scoup of ice cream for a good review. Will probably not go back. Too many other good restaurants to choose from. Hope this review helps and they try their own food. Would be pretty simple to get 4-5 stars... restaurant business is tough. I've gone to their Rancho Mirage location with my parents and we love Joyce's Sushi there. Since this place just opened up, I had to check it out with my cousins. As a party of 6, we were seated right away. I really liked how there were towelettes to cleanse our hands before eating. And on the back of one of the paper menus there was a coloring section for my nephew to draw on. Service was very quick and friendly. I ordered the Deep Fried California Roll. I was very impressed at the food presentation, not only for my food but for the rest of the food ordered. Each entree was plated on beautiful ceramics. My roll was topped with microgreens and a pretty magenta flower. It also tasted fantastic. I loved the crisp on the outside of the roll and how fresh it tasted. We had people that came over to our table to deliver food and there was even a robot server too! I loved seeing that robot roll over to other tables, it was so cute. Our server always came by to check up on us and get what we needed. We had such a wonderful time. I've had nothing but great experiences with Joyce's Sushi with my family so it's no surprise that it was the same this time.
