Came here for the omakase and was impressed by the quality and the flavors of the sushi. The chefs took great care with each course and we left satisfied. The cocktails are also innovative and delicious. The restaurant is in the Peery hotel and hidden away giving a speakeasy vibe. Reservations are essential and you must come on time as the seating is timed. Therefore there really wasn't much time for chit chat since you have to quickly finish each course before the next one arrives. Fortunately, being in a hotel we were able to sit in the lobby to catch up a bit. Love this high end omakase option in SLC!

I'm really glad they opened a new sushi spot in downtown. There's a hidden speakeasy-style entrance, which was fun to find. This is one of my fav omakase style experiences so far. Every course was good, and the chefs were fun to interact with. Drinks were solid too. The only downside was the wait, which took a while to get seated. The staff were nice and even comped us an extra course for long wait time. I'd come back again & prob try the smaller course next time.

Sushi by Bou is such a fun little omakase experience perfect if you're in the mood for something a bit bougie without feeling too over the top. The vibe is intimate and elevated, but still relaxed enough to actually enjoy yourself. Service was great from start to finish attentive, friendly, and paced really well so you never felt rushed through the experience. The omakase itself was fresh and beautifully presented, with some really standout bites along the way. It's definitely more of a quick, curated experience rather than a long, traditional omakase, which honestly made it feel modern and approachable. Parking wasn't bad for the area, which is always a win. Drinks were decent overall I wouldn't say they were the highlight, but I did really enjoy the ginger beer. Overall, a great spot for a date night or a fun night out if you want something a little elevated and different. Would definitely go back!

This was our first omakase experience but won't be our last. We opted for the $70 12 course experience and left feeling full enough, part of us wished we had gone for the 17 course because those 5 extra plates looked delish. They do have a rewards program (app) which I joined beforehand but wasn't asked about it or given the opportunity to scan in. I was slightly bummed by this because after 3 visits you earn a bougie upgrade. The restaurant has newly opened so hopefully the rewards get sorted out! The restaurant is inside the Peery Hotel and the restaurant itself is pretty small. There are 10 spots per seating and each seating is an hour long. You can arrive early and sit in the lounge area and enjoy a drink before your meal if you have a reservation after the first seating. Our reservation was at 5pm and the restaurant opened at 5 so we didn't have much of an opportunity to have a drink beforehand. Every plate was carefully crafted in front of us. We enjoyed every bite but we did have a few favorites; the hamachi, toro, and miso cod. The drinks were fantastic. We had 4 different drinks and each one was unique and delicious. The Lost in Tokyo was so unexpected but amazing, think like boozy cereal milk with more depth. While the price point is more expensive than the average for dining out, this is not your average meal. I'm always hesitant with franchises but Sushi by Bou is a great addition to the SLC restaurant scene and I look forward to visiting again soon!

My husband and I flew to Salt Lake, from California, SOLELY to go to Sushi By Bou, on 4/11, for our anniversary! (Literally flew in that afternoon and flew home the next morning!). We had been to SBB in New York and it was such an incredible experience! When I saw this location had opened, I excitedly made a surprise reservation. When we arrived, we noticed the group before us was running behind. There were also several people not dining, that were just there for drinks. We sat and had a cocktail, while we waited. Once seated, the experience was *extremely* rushed, in an effort to make up time (at our expense). There was little to no explanation of each piece and within seconds of swallowing, another piece was being served. The pieces of fish were also sliced extremely small/thin. All in all, our 1 hour experience was shorted by about 15 minutes (maybe slightly more), which was very disappointing. It was also INCREDIBLY uncomfortable having people standing directly behind us, hovering and talking, while we were eating. There was an event scheduled after our seating and the place was packed. People were hovering around us so they could grab our seats when we were done. Drink service was disappointing. My husband had to get up from the sushi bar to go to the bar to order drinks, because the servers were not coming around. They also took a ridiculous amount of time to be made. I put promo code "slc100" in my reservation and it was not acknowledged. When I inquired about it, he said "oh yeah, we can all do a caviar bump" and rushed us through. All in all the food was good and we made the best of the experience, but we would not return or recommend. Maybe it's because they are new. Maybe it will get better over time. But for $337 for 2 people, I wouldn't want to take the chance. We do look forward to flying to Tempe, to try the new location once it opens and going to the NY location again in December, though.

This place is incredible, intimate, exclusive, and perfect for a date night. Chef Daniel is so welcoming and takes the time to explain where each fish comes from, which makes the experience even more special. The sushi is unbelievably fresh, easily some of the best I've ever had and the drinks are just as impressive. The entire staff is friendly and attentive. Highly recommend Sushi by Bou in Salt Lake City!

I attended the soft opening on Saturday March 7th, team was still finalizing things but what stood out was the amazing staff! Daniel the head sushi chef walked us through every course, let my wife do the blow torch which she loved! The final course was the best piece of sushi I have EVER put in my mouth and the caviar bump was the cherry on top. The entrance through the lobby into the secret bookshelf was super cool and unique, nothing like this in SLC. Love this place and will be back every month haha

Amazing omakase experience! The miso cod and the salmon were some of the best bites from this experience. They did awesome with gluten free restrictions and were very careful about contamination. The vibes were cozy and upscale speakeasy which is cool for SLC. The chefs were engaging and kind, very skilled at their craft. Only a few pictures because I couldn't wait to eat the next bite.

At $29 with the steak, they're definitely on the pricier side, but the portion size helps justify the cost. The serving is massive--I could easily see two or even three people sharing it as a meal. By the time I finished, it honestly looked like I had barely made a dent in it. The steak was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, and every bite was loaded with toppings. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. I stopped by during an off-peak time, so it wasn't very busy, which made for a relaxed experience. One thing that really stood out was their Guinness. As someone who appreciates a proper pour, I have to give them credit--they know exactly what they're doing. Too many places rush it, but here you can tell they take pride in serving it the right way. Their drink selection is also extensive. Whether you're a beer fan or looking to try a unique cocktail, there's no shortage of great options. I'd definitely come back, especially with a group to help tackle those nachos!

The food was good, we had the potato empanada and the wagyu skewers. Both were tasty and prepared well. There was live music that was really good and we enjoyed the people they had booked. There is a cool speak easy down stairs and a dance floor upstairs (we didn't see that). Overall, the place is really cool. I will concur that our minimal encounter with staff was less that stellar. Not sure why there were all the security guys mean mugging ayerone. Recommend this place for a drink and some grub.

Good drinks! Good vibe!…read more Stopped here for drinks on a Saturday night and the place was popping! We had a group of five and we were lucky to score some stool/bar seating right up front. The prices were very reasonable! Drafts were $7 and some cocktails were $11. The bartenders were super friendly and polite and talented! I really enjoyed watching them prepare five drinks at once without loosing a beat! The music was also great! They were rocking early 2000s jams. I ordered their penecilin cocktail which had ginger, honey, coconut and lemon with whiskey and it was delicious!! Everyone else enjoyed their drinks and we had a great time!

In full transparency it has been 2-3 years since my first and last visit to Water Witch. I noticed this in my drafts and thought I should complete my review. That said, I think I hyped this place up in my head too much before my visit because of the James Beard nod. So when it didn't quite hit the mark for me, I was disappointed. It's quite an intimate bar. By that I mean small space inside. The main bar has seating of course and there are a few seating areas directly behind the barstool area. There is a small walkway that separates the bar and the seating area. So the seating area is looking straight forward at the bartenders and the backs of people on barstools. I felt like the people behind me were staring into my soul lol, but that's a me problem ha. It's a modern design and beautifully decorated. I had two drinks. One from the menu and one that I told the bartender what I liked and disliked. He then made a drink based upon my taste. In my opinion it tasted similar to the one from the menu, which was disappointing because I was hoping for something different. There was one bartender that evening and one bar back, so even with the few people at the bar (I'd say 6-7 including me and a guest) and the 4 people seated behind us. It took some time to get his attention and order a drink. Which is part of the reason I only had two drinks. I would probably give this place another try since it's been some time since I've been there. As I always like to say. Stop in and judge for yourself.
