I visited White Horse for the first time this Sunday, and it was a wonderful experience. I loved the décor. It's intimate, stylish, and has a great atmosphere. I ordered the steak and eggs, and they were phenomenal. My friend suggested we share the ricotta pancakes as an appetizer, and I'm so glad she did because they were absolutely fantastic. The food, atmosphere, and overall experience made a great first impression. I'll definitely be back, hopefully one more time before I leave Salt Lake City. read more

When you know something is really good, you return back and I felt that this place always did a great job in terms of a great food experience. Thankfully, no reservation was needed but it was still really busy. We were able to get seating next to the window; however I do wish the spacing between tables were a little bit bigger, as it feels like everyone's in each other's conversations and forces you to be friends with your neighbors. Not ideal when you're on a date night or trying to be intimate with someone. For drinks, we were interested in trying something before ordering a bottle or a glass. I didn't realize that for a wine sampling like that, it was $3 bucks... We got just a glass, and I went for a custom cocktail. ON the bill, they call it a "bar roulette," and that ran me $20 bucks... yesh, but ok!!! Dinner choices for us were the Clam Chowder & Wagyu Steak. The claim chowder presentation was definitely unexpected as it didn't resemble a Soup as expected. Another Utah unique moment with a book. Visit here for an event cocktail. I did not like any of the two drinks presented or suggested. Tasted like liquid meds. Table guest ordered smoked or roasted almonds, I expected them to have more of a crisp, it was soft with a barbecue season, which isn't something well ordered again, honestly they look untouched, we didn't eat the ones we ordered. The check came inside of a book. Yes an actual reading book. Fun fact: right next door is a bookstore. And these were unpopular books that the owner didn't have a heart to toss, so they rehoused them with white horse and this place put them to use by delivering checks. Very unique. So happy that White Horse is back. This has been one of my spots in the city for years now, and it's become a tradition to stop in for oyster shooters. It can be hard to find good oysters in Utah, and theirs are among the best of the best. My go-to is their steak sandwich, which comes with goat cheese and tender steak medallions cooked to your liking. Their menu is stacked with a variety of dishes, from sandwiches to pasta, and seafood. I truly love this restaurant and have many fond memories dining here! read more

White Horse is a super rad restaurant downtown SLC. Plan ahead with rezi's or expect a slight wait (even mid week). We sat a communal table which wasn't too tight keeping us elbow to elbow with the group next to us. The Manhattan's were delicious as was the Wagyu steak. The one letdown was the pork belly. I should have snapped a photo of it. It was brought out and was just one small piece covered by salad and a chunk of tomato. I actually questioned the waiter if we ordered the right thing. Although the pork belly was good, like I said, it was one small piece. Definitely wouldn't waste money on that again. The vibes in the restaurant are great though. It's not quiet but you don't have to yell to hear each other either. It's definitely a spot I'd come back to. read more

Came here on a date night on a Sunday and the staff seemed kind of scattered and not very professional. Our server didn't really check in on us and kept us waiting what felt like forever to finally order in some food. The drinks were okay.. I might be biased cause I'm more of a beer connoisseur. They're BACK and reopening today (1/29/26)!! After being closed for five months from a fire, the comeback is unreal. The city really showed up -- community donations and even zero-interest loans to help them rebuild. Such a feel-good, faith-in-humanity kind of story. This bar / restaurant has great vibes for a classy, fancy but not pretentious time. We came on a Wednesday evening without a reservation and it was packed. We managed to get seated in about 15 minutes at the bar. The staff was very helpful going over the menu with us. The duck entree was amazing, one of the best duck dishes I've had ever- it was just so flavorful with perfect accompaniments! We also got 12 oysters and the short rib which were both very nice as well. Wish we had tried the wagyu - the people near us got it and the portion size looked pretty substantial. Great spot to stop off for a mid afternoon cocktail. Very comfy bar seats and excellent cocktail choices. I love the warm and inviting atmosphere with the brickwork and leather. The bartender is awesome and climbs up and down that liquor wall often - she is in shape!! It's right here to get to on Main Street - there are a lot of "interesting characters" that are loitering outside overall at that corner but are harmless enough.
