Always delicious and wonderful lunch specials! Our server, Vicky, was attentive and friendly all while handling multiple tables. It was a full house today, but everyone made the dining experience amazing!

Came in on a Sunday for lunch & was pleasantly surprised! The sushi melted in my mouth . . . Delicious! Service was a little slow, but friendly. It got quite busier as the 12:00 lunchtime hour came. The presentation of the meals were attractive, too! Luncheon prices are fair and the amount of food you get is a good amount. Will definitely return!

Very nice cozy little restaurant. Our server was fabulous and the owner came by to check on a several times. The lunch specials were definitely worth it. I liked that they brought out a little cucumbers, salad and miso soup before we had our sushi rolls. Certainly a place I'll come back to.

My husband and I have dined here twice and I'm definitely sad that we didn't come here sooner. The vibe is nice, calm, casual. The menu is extensive. Both times we've dined here we went with the bento box which comes with a lot of food. I did the salmon and shrimp and my husband did the steak and chicken. All delicious! We've also tried the California roll and the salmon roll. I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu! Service has been quick and efficient. It's a perfect place for date night and I know we will be back soon!

Being referred from a friend relatives that Cortaro is one of the best sushi shop in Tucson!!! I ordered a Sushi Deluxe, miso soup n ginger salad... it's freshly, tasty n delicious!!! Next time I shall try more rolls.... Services were ok good enough n efficient... environment is more Japanese modern designed decorations!!!

This has been my husband and I's go-to date spot for years and it just occurred to me I've never left a review! The food is consistently delicious. Sushi is one of my favorite foods- my husband not so much. He had only tried a California roll one time when we had met. I started him off safe with a Vegas roll and that has been his order for years now. 2 Vegas rolls and the teriyaki donburi- great size and value. He's even branched out and now likes some of the rolls with raw fish! The fish has always been fresh and delicious- I definitely notice a difference in quality. Any time Sushi Cortaro was closed and we had to substitute with another restaurant I was left disappointed in comparison. Service has always been quick, and friendly. There were some nights we cut it close to closing time (we always try not to, but sometimes it happens) and we never felt rushed or judged for coming in late on those occasions. This has been a regular date spot for us as boyfriend/girlfriend, as fiancés, as newlyweds, and most recently- our first meal at the hospital after giving birth to our daughter (9 whole months without sushi ). We splurged and basically got one of everything! Sushi Cortaro is still our favorite date night, it just looks a little different now as new parents- we mostly order take-out

Sushi was good. We chose take out/pick up and food was ready as indicated. The restaurant is nice inside and I feel the sushi is actually better when eating there vs take out/pick up.

    Shrimp and vegetables tempura

The food here is fresh abd the service is pretty attentive. The menu can be a bit confusing and inconsistent with listing ingredients. One menu lists the gyoza as beef and another lists it as pork. The haply hour menu is worth checking out.

Agedashi Tofu - decent. You can't go wrong with age tofu Sashimi Salad - Loved their ginger dressing Treasure Island - Yummy Yummy. Kind of like poke and it was good Gyoza - not the gyoza I was expecting to eat. Definitely not Japanese style.

This was not what we expected but the staff was friendly and 1/2 patrons at the food hall were eating sushi. The stalls have big energy today and lots of patrons are searching for a seat. Why not give them a chance? The menu is fairly varied for a small pop-up with traditional and deep fried sushi rolls. The female wait staff is handing out egg drop soup samples to everyone, ever those eating pizza and gyros. Looking around, these rolls are huge. We chose the Sonoran roll with shrimp tempora, spicy tuna, spicy crab topped with seared salmon and yuzu sauce. This roll was flavorful and spicy. Another roll was the Samurai with shrimp tempora, cream cheese, avacado wrapped in soy paper deep fried and covered with spicy crab / shrimp mix baked in a spicy aioli and eel sauce. This was our favorite roll with a pop in the tempora shrimp and an uncious taste coupled with a bite. Our third and final roll was the heart attack. Another spicy roll with shrimp tempora, avacado, cream cheese topped with jalepeno, spicy crab and chef sauce. Again, another good roll and a ton of food. This food mall is in an unassuming neighborhood with a smiling server who is hustling like crazy. The sushi was good, unique and tasty. It was a huge amount of food. Give this hard working staff and chance, she is enthusiastic and working hard. To the staff at Samurai Sombrero who are working hard and obviously, not a trained sushi chef. To the public, take a chance, give Samurai Sombrero a try and judge for yourself.

I wanted to update my review after several years and several great meals at Obon. They have really…read moreupped their game these last couple of years (I'm guessing thanks to their new head chef). In my prior review, I complained about a lack of consistency in their meals. Not anymore! I can happily say that my meals have been consistently good. They've updated their menu many times since my last review - this is for the better. While they still have some of their classics like their ramen (the vegan ramen is actually delicious and with umami flavor), they've added other fun things like the braised short rib donburi. (Which they recently had a special where the donburi was made with udon noodles instead of rice - please make this a permanent menu item!!) I love their yuzu yellowtail sashimi dish. To be honest, I would argue Obon has some of the best sushi in Tucson. Their cocktails have also gotten much better. Before, I felt like many of them were pretty strange creations. Now, their drinks are still unique but thoughtfully made - not full of sugars, candy, etc. I look forward to having a cocktail at Obon now. The interior/exterior of the restaurant has not changed; I do not mind this. The ambiance has always felt right. If there was one minor thing I'd change, it would be so that when you sit at the sushi bar, you could actually see the sushi being made (it's hard to explain the seating at the bar but basically the view of the sushi chefs at work is sorta blocked by the unused sushi itself). But this is incredibly minor and not at all an issue causing a lesser rating. As you can see, I have come to really love Obon. I come here semi-regularly, both on dates and with friends, so I felt it was only just to update my previous critiques. If it's been a while since you last tried Obon, definitely give it another go. They are doing some good work here, clearly listening to customers and making improvements.

Walked in, immediately greeted and sat at the bar, our request. The hostess also our cocktail and beer server. Hubby had a delicious clarified cocktail which was absolutely yummy but at $18 a pop for a good four drinks and it's gone cocktail, ok. I know they take time to make. I had a $10 Sapporo draft. We then ordered two pork Bao Buns, two sushi rolls, the Shiro Maki and the Tataki Maki. Both really good, really well rolled, not an abundance of rice either. I am obsessed with Ramen, I decided to order the house Ramen, the Obon, without the Bonito flakes because I'm not a fan. Looked good when it came, I just wasn't happy with it. It lacked something, umami, a well developed broth, who knows, I just know it wasn't what I normally like. It gave me heartburn from hell too. Overall, $150 later I left somewhat dissatisfied and disappointed. For a Sunday, at noon, four tables worth of patrons. Not loud, not super quiet, nice ambiance. I doubt that I'll go back, if we do, it will be for their $22 rolls of sushi.
