We love eating here. The food has always been amazing. It has become one of our go-to's in town.

I am not sure when these reviews were done, but there was nothing good about my experience here. We were greeted nicely from the hostess although she didn't seem happy to be there. Once we sat down our server "Captain Jack" Asked what we would like to drink, I asked for hot green tea, my husband was asking what type of sake was unfiltered he pointed to the menu and said those are all unfiltered, I asked if he had any recommendations, he just stood there. I then asked if they do flights of sake, and he said no. This guy had the personality of a tabletop. After we got our drinks, the server asked what we would like, I asked if they slice their fish this or thick, because I prefer thin instead of huge chunks of fish. I mentioned to him I prefer thin, thinking he would tell his chef. We started with potstickers and when he brought it, he never offered side plates, I finally had to ask the hostess, and she kindly brought some over. then the server brought our sashimi dish and with a deep breath then described what type of fish was on the plate. first of all, I thought we were being punked. It was like I asked that server for huge chunks of fish. It was at least half an inch thick. So bad. The sashimi I ordered was supposed to come with a salad or miso soup, which wasn't brought. I finally had to flag him down even though there was only 2 other people in the whole place. Not once did he come to check on us to see how things were. This "Captain Jack" has no business being a server in any restaurant, it was by far the worst experience I have had ever in a restaurant. Your takeout experience needs significant improvement. Online menu is poor. Why should I have to call to placed on hold every single time. This past time 10 mins and person completely forgot I was there. I literally live in the neighborhood and now you've lost a repeat customer bc you cannot get your call in experience buttoned up. No! No! NO! If you like sushi DO NOT order here. Quality: 1 Overall, the rice is under seasoned and flavor is "off". In nigiri and tobiko, insufficient rice was used. Rolls were too loosely wrapped and rice not cohesive. Their version of "Sushi" just falls apart. Tobiko: does not appear fresh. It has a hazy appearance when it should be clear and bright. Not taking risk of eating. The seaweed wrap of the tobiko is twice the length it should be, leaving the excess flapping in the wind and unwinding leaving rice ball disintegrating onto the container. Unable to pick up "sush" serving. Going straight into trash. Nigiri: Ratio of rice to fish unacceptable. I question the grain of rice used. Rice is not pressed together causing it to fall apart as it is lifted. The oiliness of the salmon is suspect. In hind sight, I'm concerned about getting sick from improper refrigeration of the fish. Fingers crossed. Wait time: very slow. Value: nope. Better quality, flavor, and final product at conveyor belt sushi. Seriously, this place has no business trying to make sushi. It's embarrassing. HOW did they even get a score above 1 star is beyond me. "Kevin-san"...tried his best, but no. I watched him try and cut rolls with a cruddied up knife blade packed with rice...oof! read more

Excellent service - answered our questions thoroughly. Our rolls were very good. The Crab Rangoon was different than any we've had previously but were quite delightful. Thought they might be closing down when we arrived, and then it filled up nicely about 9 pm. read more

Stopped in for lunch a couple days ago. Owner is very rude! Overheard the owner talking to an employee, I wouldn't talk to my worst enemy or my dog like that. Everyone who works there looks miserable. The owner treats his employees like garbage. Do not support this business, the owner is not a good person. Got my bag handed to me with the comment "It's all in there, go ahead and check it - I don't care!" So I awkwardly left trusting with that comment it was correct. Naw, just a sny comment. I came here tonight with my 11 and 12-year-old boys, who both surprisingly love sushi and were excited for a fun dinner out. Unfortunately, this was one of the most uncomfortable and concerning restaurant experiences we've had in Coeur d'Alene. After a brief wait to be seated, we were placed at the sushi bar. From that point forward, the service became almost nonexistent. We waited several minutes before anyone acknowledged us, and eventually started timing how long it was taking. Unlike most sushi restaurants where the chefs interact directly with guests at the bar, we were told to place our order through a server who appeared completely disengaged and unable to focus on basic tasks. The overall atmosphere felt off--staff looked unhappy, unmotivated, and disconnected from both guests and each other. When I asked the hostess who the individual working the sushi bar area was, she identified him as "Connor," and said the manager was "Matt." I later learned that Matt is actually the owner. That was disappointing to discover, especially after visiting a neighboring business afterward that clearly valued customers and deserved our money. As a parent dining with kids at 6:30pm, the lack of professionalism and the unsettling vibe were major red flags. Between the extremely poor service, chaotic environment, and the staff's concerning demeanor, this is not a place I would ever return to or recommend. It felt less like a restaurant and more like a team that simply didn't want to be there. We ordered ahead as we were driving through town. Our food was ready when we arrived! Presentation was great and the rolls were very tasty, although they did fall apart fairly easily. I recently visited here and, unfortunately, I wasn't too impressed. The food was not as we expected. We ordered sushi and most of the rolls didn't have a lot of fish in them, it was an off flavor and tiny rolls ,which was a bit disappointing. The sashimi was ok. To top it off, my bill ended up being higher than what I've paid at other sushi places with better quality and bigger portions. Listen, we're veggie sushi roll eaters, so take this with a grain of salt. Not itching to go back any time soon... there's something about spending $40 on a few small veggie rolls that I don't enjoy. Waiter was very nice and sat us quickly, each table is provided with edamame which is a nice snack while you're waiting. Order got messed up, but I really don't care as long as it's fixed and service is nice (which it was). Rolls we're just OK and sadly small. I'm not sure what I expect in N Idaho, but after living in a few big cities throughout school, I just know there's so much better out there. I realize 99% of sushi eaters aren't eating veggie rolls so just throw this review in the garbage and pretend it never happened. read more

This was our first time there for dinner, usually we go for lunch! Service was great. Very friendly and took pride in their work and the establishment. The dinner plates were prepared so nicely! I got the chicken teriyaki, & it was great. I love that they don't drench the teriyaki in sauce, and I loved the amount of veggies they're were. I do ask for extra teriyaki sauce to go along. My hubby ordered the fried rice, said it was great. Lots of peas, but good! We both had lunch left overs which is always a plus & speaks volumes towards the plate size. read more

Ok, I really rarely leave reviews. Truly. And I love small businesses which is why I'm giving this 4 stars. But one of my sushi rolls had the bones in the fish in it still.... I pulled some out prior to eating and then pulled the rest out of my mouth. I ordered takeout so would not have been able to bring it up to staff- I'm sure they would have handled it great and professionally. It wasn't alot, just a few- but realistically probably like 5 bones. For sushi, that's 5 too many. I get it, it happens, hence the 4 stars. Also the rice. Fell apart while picking up. We had a great experience last night for my husband's birthday dinner. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful, and let us know we could get a free dessert for celebrating a birthday there. We got the tempura cheesecake which was incredible. We started with the veggie tempura and garlic edamame, both incredibly fresh and tasty! We also got a noodle dish and a roll. Oh dear, I really hate to write a bad review, but unfortunately this place deserves one. Tonight, *we waited for an hour to be served* after ordering, while we watched multiple tables that were seated after us receive their food. The waitress forgot to bring us the miso soup ordered by my husband and forgot the edamame which we found out much later (from the host) was supposed to be included as an appetizer. My husband asked the waitress multiple times when we could expect our meal and she kept saying it would be coming right up. Spoiler alert: it wasn't. My husband asked her did she just forget about the miso and she said yes, she did. It was honestly some of the most pathetic service I've ever witnessed in a restaurant. When the food finally arrived to the table, the taste was average. The premium roll was small and extremely overpriced for the dollar amount. Thank you to the kind host, a young man who took over for the waitress after she completely ignored us for the last 30 minutes of our meal. He apologized to us multiple times and even said he would speak to the manager to try to get a discount for our meal. He returned to tell us that the manager would not comp anything. That the manager wouldn't even comp a $2.50 cup of forgotten miso soup after this disaster is the epitome of poor service. Btw, if you're looking for a great Japanese/sushi restaurant in CdA, go to Takara downtown! Hands down, it is way better in every way! read more

We were at silverwood theme park for a few days and it was hard to find good decent food around the area. We stayed in Blanchard at Stoneridge Resort and there wasn't any decent restaurant within 30 mins drive. So we drove out to Coeur d'Alene where most of the restaurants are at. It was about 45min drive, not too bad. We read about I-sushi on yelp and was pleased with the service and food. Upon arrival, they gave us complimentary edamame, which was nice. Sashimi was fresh and rolls was tasty. We ordered tonkatsu ramen for my daughter, the pork was super tender! It's a small restaurant, I wouldn't recommend for groups bigger than 6-8. Most tables were for party of 4. Location was nice as it was next to cold stone ice cream and also a frozen yogurt, plus an regal movie theater. read more

Here vacationing for the weekend. My wife and I stopped in for a quick lunch. Totally surprised by the quality of their blue fin tuna belly! It was awesome! Finally a decent sushi place in Idaho! Parking lot is huge and inside the restaurant was very spacious. It seems like it does get busy during the dinner time (it was on Monday when I walked in) so maybe making a reservation would be a good idea. A waitress stopped by at our table often to ask how we were doing and refilled water for us. very friendly. I got Happiness and I special and my friend got chirashi bowl. Each piece of sea food was fresh and tasty! I was very impressed. I especially enjoyed happiness although it was seared beef rolls in sushi restaurant, and I didn't know what to expect. It was very flavorful and I enjoyed the crunchy texture outside but soft roll inside. The portion was big enough I ended up to-going some of my leftover. The price is pretty decent-- majority of rolls were ranged from $13-15! I would definitely want to come back here to try other dishes and recommend anyone to try this place out! :) read more

I've worked as a sushi chef at five restaurants, and no where have I ever seen a simple hand roll be $12, I ordered the Negi Hama which was an $8 roll, and was charged $24 for 2 of them. And there was not a single adult in sight at the restaurant. And I couldn't even order my sushi from the bar without a kid interrupting, trying to take my order when traditionally the one at the bar can handle it, and was handling it prior to his interruption. Sushi I is my favorite restaurant in Couer d'Alene. Matt aka "The Boss" is a young, up-and-coming sushi chef who brings careful attention to detail to his craft. Each piece of nigiri is melt-in-your-mouth good: the fish tastes fresh, the rice is soft and flavorful, and each piece is sized perfectly for a comfortable bite. Even if you are hesitant about raw fish, there are plenty great of options for you. Matt and his sous chef Peter make delicious seared nigiri, sushi rolls and other Japanese cuisine (e.g. ramen, teriyaki, tempura). Not only is the food delicious, I am always impressed by the the professional service from Vikki and her team. They are friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu (including the awesome sake collection). I highly recommend this restaurant, and I will be a customer for life. read more
