So, when I was in the Orient, my friends who were local would take me to some amazing restaurants. A lot of the time, it would be an apartment or a house in the middle of some neighborhood without a sign or flashy entrance to let you know that it's a restaurant. You would just walk in, and there would be a couple tables, and some couple whipping out unbelievable food. Little Kyoto is like that. It's a house converted into a restaurant. For me, the menu had plenty of options. I looked for rolls that had some spice, and they did not disappoint. Come on in to the yellow house! This place for completely full by 12 pm. I had a quick lunch and it was great. Salted Edamame, friend calamari with sweet & sour sauce, and ahi tuna tower. My favorite was definitely the tower. It is catered to the community it serves. This place would not be a typical place I would go in So. California due to all the sauces on the rolls. I love this place. My son and wife too. Service is amazing as they've always gone beyond the call of duty to serve us in the two visits we've been here. The wait time for sushi is just what I would expect it to be, comparing it to other sushi restaurants. It takes about 10-15 minutes, but good sushi is always worth waiting for. And this is great sushi. They put the biggest and freshest pieces of fish on their sushi than any other place in the CDA area; and it tastes delicious! Because of all that, this is our new favorite sushi house. Our friend had told us this was their favorite sushi so we had to find out why. We were somewhat in disbelief that the best sushi in the CDA area was in North Hayden away from most other restaurants. But there you have it: the best sushi in the area. This is the BEST sushi I have ever had in Idaho, and probably tops all other places I've eaten at in the pnw. Their teriyaki and beef bulgogi is so natural tasting, it's delicious. All of their food is cooked fresh to order, so although you might have to wait for the tables in front of you to get their food ... the wait is worth it!! It's a family restaurant so there are only 6 tables. Very clean and very great service. I recommend that you don't come starving, because it is a little bit of a wait, but don't ruin your appetite because you'll regret it once your food comes. They also do a nice job at bringing out any appetizers you ordered, out to you quickly. Amazing food, you have to try it! Their hours are so spontaneous. However, their food is delicious. We drive 25 min from Careywood to eat here, only to find 50% of the time they are closed when they post they are open. This Thursday they posted they were open, yet at 5:15 dark and closed. They do not answer their phone. The owners (Father son combo) are so nice and the father is the creative sushi roll maker. We have lived here for two years and understand that it's tough to work as two, got s hungry fan base. Their hours are minimal and they close at a whim. I'd give Kyoto 4+ - 5 stars for their rolls but it's becoming hard for us to continue to drive the distance only to be disappointed if they are closed. read more

We have lived here in Idaho for the past five years. We love sushi and we have missed good sushi up until now. Little Kyoto is excellent! The service is wonderful. The chef is fantastic. From the outside it looks like a little house with a funky color. When you go inside, it's very clean, but quite small. But for being small, it's quite roomy and airy. They do not stack tables in there just for the sake of having more people come in. For them more is not necessarily what is best. There are two of them and they make this place flow. The food is some of the freshest I have ever had and I used to live on the coast. You can taste type of fish and their flavors just pop. I would highly recommend. Coming from Los Angeles where the quality of food and options are abundant, we were so nervous we would never find a good sushi spot but we did! It's away from town and in this tiny house, I love everything about it! Actually it should be four AND A HALF stars! The shrimp and veggie tempura was EXCELLENT, crunchy and variety of sweet potato green beans and yellow squash. Quite yummy! And the gyoza too was just as good. The service was very good too, appreciative BUT my first appetizer took at least 10 minutes after I ordered and I needed to b out of there when I actually got the rest of my meal. So, I was late for 1pm appointment. Nevertheless, it was worth it! Next time I'll go with more time on my hands. Very good job guys! read more

This is amazing. So far my favorite for sushi in the panhandle. Raw Dead Fish is also awesome but there was something about this sushi that was just too notch. My fiancé and I could taste every single ingredient individually, yet all together it made for the perfect meld of flavors. From previously trying to get seated around 7-7:30 on a Friday night, we were turned away because they were so busy - the place is small and there is only one gentleman making the rolls - we got there at 4:55 on a Friday and there were so many people rolling in that we were one of the last tables to be seated right away! Obviously a sign it is good if everyone is getting there right before they open to make sure they get a table. So just keep that in mind if you are going to try it out. The earlier the better. We tried three rolls and an appetizer to really get a feel for it: the fried stuffed mushrooms, the Cajun Fire Roll, the New Hawaiian, and the French Kiss. Each one was prepared excellently and the flavors were to die for but we decided that we could have eaten only the Cajun Fire Roll 12 times over just because we loved it so much. Ultimately, the staff is attentive and kind but definitely a bit awkward haha. The nice bus girl that was walking around just continually circled the 10 tables asking if anyone needed water... Non. Stop. Which was nice but also a bit annoying. I drink a ton of water but I can't drink that much water within 5 minutes girly. I'm thinking it's her first job so needless to say she is fine haha. I'm not the type to dock down for awko-taco service because it was still good. Overall, best sushi I have ever had. I'm in love. And I wish they had take out. And I wish they were open on the weekends. But Ce La Vie. I will be back for sure! read more
