The sushi was fresh and by no means did they skimp out on fish. My son and I shared a lunch salmon box featuring 4 salmon nigiri, 4 pieces of salmon roll and 3-4 pieces of salmon sashimi and it was about $18-$20 which is fine, although this spot is more of a kiosk with the boxes in a refrigerator case vs made fresh to order. It's located in the Alameda marketplace, so you order and then you either take it to go, or you can find a table/seat at the public seating the other restaurants share, and there is a few tables outside. Service wasn't necessarily with a smile, but again, quick, sufficient and the fish was good. While I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for it, if you're jonesing for sushi and need to pick up some goods at this food hall style spot, it works.

This spot is in the marketplace. While there is some seating in the marketplace, it's definitely a pick and go situation. I've ordered sushi to go from the case next to their register a number of times, and ordered a more robust meal this week. I ordered the ikura nigiri, unagi nigiri, and the beluga roll (tuna, tempura shrimp, cucumber, topped with white tuna and sauces). It was good! It was solid, prepared fairly quickly, and I enjoyed it. Can't speak to service too much as it's not a sit-down situation, but everyone has been friendly!

Located inside a plaza with lots of other restaurants, sushi king is next to green and grains. Service is nice and friendly. The ambiance is a little kiosk with bar seating. More so a grab and go spot. I got the unagi roll and California roll and it was fresh and fulfilled my appetite.

It's honestly not bad for what it is. I don't ever come here because it's inside a supermarket next to a couple of other places to eat. Barely any parking or places to sit. But if you need a quick take out spot, this is not bad. They have sushi sitting out in their fridge you can pick from right away if you're in a rush. I haven't tried those yet and to be honest, it doesnt matter where I'm at, I don't think I'd ever pick sushi from a fridge like that. They also have a menu you can look at and order from, those they make on the spot. I saw a mango roll on the menu and was instantly a sucker for it. The other roll I got was an A's roll. I finished both rolls and was perfectly full from it so it was average sized in terms of potions The rolls came out pretty fast and was average. If you're ever in need of a quick sushi fix and in a rush, this is a good spot. You can even go grocery shopping after.

Still my favorite, casual, takeout sushi spot after at least 20 years. The quality of sushi and friendliness of the staff keeps me coming back. Not sure why the ratings are so low, but whatever. More sushi for me then! Our family loves Sushi King!

Hubby and I were going to go out to eat with our friends, but there has been change of plans so we were trying to decide where to go to grab food. We went out for errands and he had wanted to get i-Tea. I remembered there was a sushi place nearby and suggested that we can get a few rolls. I remember going out to eat here pre-Covid with Hubby and another friend and it was good. We went to order the rolls we want and went to i-Tea to grab our drinks. The people working there were kind. We got our drinks quick and I asked for an update just to see how much longer and he told me about another 5 ish minutes since it needs to bake. As we waited, we wondered around the grocery store just looking around. The rolls were good, but it could've been better. The Lion King was the best one out of the 3 that we have gotten. It doesn't taste like how it use to be when we first went there to eat, but it wasn't bad. Maybe the rolls will taste better eating right then and there? But who knows. We may or may not be back, depending if we can find another sushi place that is to our liking nearby.

Good sushi bowl. Half rice, half greens underneath. Comes with good avocado, ginger, seaweed salad, marinaded salmon & ahi tuna. Good cuts of fish and healthy portion. Would recommend as a quick, yummy and cute location surrounded by other vendors.

LOVED this, will order this every single time. Relatively more unique offering * Omakase Nigiri (4.5/5) - delicious and fresh. Would recommend for a first time order. Sadly you cannot order most of the items à la carte on doordash * Snow crab California roll (4.5/5) - fresh, decently portioned, and they use real snow crab! A solid, delicious, and relatively unique offering == Solid - Would order again == * Wakame (4/5) - standard run of the mill wakame - good and hits the spot == Okay - would personally pass == * Unagi roll (3/5) - unagi portion wise is very slim. I do appreciate that there is very little sauce (unlike many establishments that drench their unagi in sauce), but the unagi was slightly fishier than expected. There were some bones (as expected for unagi) but they were soft and did not cause problems. Quality of the avocado and rice were good. Portions were reasonable * Unagi nigiri (2.75/5) - from what I recall the unagi pieces were more slender than expected and was disappointing compared to their other offerings. Still appreciated that it was more "naked" and not drenched in sauce Delivery notes - provided ginger and wasabi packages separately - nice touch for those of us who don't appreciate surprise wasabi smudged onto our sushi - also provided plenty of soy sauce and chopsticks

I usually assume veggie handrolls in a set are more of a filler item, but this one was so savory and flavorful that it honestly deserves its own little spotlight. The absolute star of the meal, though, was the Best Catch Box: negitoro, uni, ikura, and Hokkaido scallops all in one bowl?! Literally all of my favorite things together for only $29. I dined here on a weeknight during a heat wave, and walked in as a party of 2 to be seated immediately. The host even provided options of which table we preferred. Totally unheard of especially when every other visit included a 45+ min wait. Mensho has great ratings, and for good reason. They have enough ramen selections to cater every type of eater. The ingredients seem quality and the noodle texture has the perfect chew, which Mensho described them as "mochi noodles". I opted for the vegan ramen during my recent visit, loved all the veggies and the broth wasn't too salty. I had a couple bites of the wagyu from the wagyu ramen, the meat was very rich/buttery. I probably wouldn't want a whole serving of that, but a few bites satisfied the curiousity. Currently, Mensho offers a matcha pudding type dessert for $7. It was very tasty with a few bites of red beans and couple slices of strawberry. I was actually enjoying every bite. Prices have definitely creeped up over the years, glad to see that they're still using quality ingredients. Service was good. I'll come again during the next heat wave. Haha. #39/2026

So admittedly I came here twice by accident because I forgot being here the first time. My wife and I will come into town there and again to hang out in Alameda and when we do, this is one of the better restaurants in town. Seems to me its a family operation, service is warm and friendly. Ambiance is laid back, cafe style. The menu has all the typical fare, I got the teryaki salmon meal both times and it was pretty good. Could use a little more sauce but you can always ask and I'm sure they'd be happy to provide at no charge. Also got the salmon collar which was particularly good. Prices are a little high for the area, but I would expect that given there's not a lot of sushi around, so they deserve the bump. 10$/nigiri though on some salmon is a *sconch* too high, they should do this a bit smarter. Only big things for me is just keep the hot sake HOT, it was mildly warm when I got mine, but this a common gripe I say about tons of places so not really gonna make a big deal about it. I'm on a mission to get house hot sake hotter across these lands. All in all, comparatively its great for Alameda, but would not stack up at these prices anywhere in Oakland, or SF. An excellent option of convenience if you don't feel like traveling.
