Combination box of tempura and sashimi
    Juicke C.

Caught in mid commute hour traffic, I decided to wait out the traffic and have dinner before heading home. Along Park Boulevard, there are several places to choose. Sushi Park's sign pop into view. So I paid a visit to this intimate family run sushi restaurant. Walking in i was greeting immediately and warmly. I had choice of seating so I took a seat by the sushi bar. I ordered the tempura and sashimi dinner combination. This bento box came with miso soup, salad, rice along with the tempura and sashimi. The tempura was hot out of the fryer. The sashimi pieces were nicely wrapped like ribbons in my box. The fish was fresh yet they had a neutral taste. The meal was fulfilling and environment was very family friendly. The combination was very wallet friendly as well.

Yummy & nice neighborhood sushi spot. Chefs & staff were friendly & gave us complimentary plum wine to end our sushi dinner. Everything was fresh & great. May need to park in streets but a must try if in area.

Finding great sushi is always an adventurous journey... While Sushi Park didn't quite hit the mark, I can't rave enough about the service! The ladies who work here are so nice and are very attentive to all of their guests. My twin boys (4) were treated so well and were even given a belated birthday Mango Mochi Ice Cream. So while the food wasn't the highlight, it does not mean it wasn't good, it was decent. Based on food alone, it's a solid 6.5/10, but when you factor in the staff, I'd give them a 8.5/10, with the staff as the highlight!

They posted their hours as closing at 9:30 PM on their menu and on their door, but they told us 9:00 PM to try to rush us out because we had gotten there (late to them apparently) at 8 PM! (See pic of posted closing time.) This was unsettling because it's unprofessional for one, and, two, I especially hate being rushed to eat. Admittedly, most of the fish on the sushi was more or less fresh, but the Ebi (Shrimp) was very chewy, almost rubbery. So do not order! Also, the sushi rice was really a letdown. It almost tasted like plain Japanese sticky rice; there was barely any hint of seasoning--bereft of rice vinegar or sugar (or at least mirin). If you've never tried to make sushi rice, trust me when I say these are essentials. The server even tried to sell us down to the Sushi Regular when we ordered the Sushi Deluxe, saying the latter was really too big. Huh? Which eating establishment tries to sell you down?? Some might actually do because they have that rare altruistic heart when they don't think you can come close to finishing it. But upon seeing what actually came as the deluxe, which wasn't super big, Sushi Park is clearly not one of them. I felt the server was just trying to sell us down because she didn't want the sushi chefs to have to take longer to make a bigger order, and they all didn't want us to linger longer eating when they had planned to close earlier for the night. The server was also abrupt and not very engaging, again and in keeping with the "trying to rush us out" theme. Also, be warned, parking is tough there since there aren't that many spaces and there are a lot of storefronts competing for foot traffic.

Average. No a/c, as many small eateries in Oakland. Saving energy vs comfort of dining. The weather in San Francisco cool, a/c isn't really necessary. Food is average as well. The neighborhood feels calm and neat but is there is a bullet at the store next door?

*Open for indoor dining, outdoor dining, and takeout* Came here for dinner with a friend on a weeknight around 6. We were glad there wasn't a long line ahead of us. The service was quick and efficient. We got a couple rolls and shared a beer. The sushi rolls were a little limited and not super Japanese, but decent experience overall.

For years this has been my go-to place for Valentine's Day. Even with the pandemic the efficiency and friendliness of the staff is outstanding, and the food equally so. This has to be the best place for sushi in the Bay Area. Having tried many places Sushi Park remains at the top of the list. I wouldn't hesitate to try anything from here. I called in an order and it was ready right on time, as always. Now, with the pandemic they have a table set up for pick-up right outside the door. This is a small restaurant and you wouldn't want a lot of people lining up in there. They seem to follow all good safety practices around the current Covid situation. I ordered several sushi rolls and they all were excellent. Spicy Dragon Roll Tuna Avacado Roll California Roll Spicy Salmon Roll Pink Lady Roll Fire Cracker Bell Roll All were fresh with well prepared rice, beautifully presented and well packed in containers for travel. I hadn't tried the House Special Pink Lady and Fire Cracker Bell Rolls before and both were exception. The fluorescent pink encasing the Pink Lady pieces were perfect for Valentine's Day! It has crab in it and was ever so tasty. The Fire Cracker Bell Roll was warm and a burst of flavor. So delicious. I also got the house salad, always fresh with iceberg lettuce and shredded carrot with a tasty dressing, and miso soup, always nice on a cold day. This was the first time we didn't get ice cream with the order?!? Overall, I highly continue to recommend this restaurant for exceptional sushi and Japanese food, conveniently located in the charming Glenview neighborhood of Oakland.

The lighting is dim, providing a more elevated atmosphere. We came during lunch and surprising there was only 1 other guest there at the time. The staff seated us right away and we were able to order within a few minutes. The menu has a great assortment of sushi, bento boxes and more so if you're in a larger group, there is something for everyone. As a group of 3, my friends and I decided to split the meal family style and ordered bento boxes and a few rolls. The food came out within just a few minutes. The rolls are visually appealing and very appetizing. They held together nicely, although the spicy scallop roll was falling apart - however I do think scallop is trickier to work with so I didn't mind it. The bento boxes offered a great quantity of food for the price, so it was worth it! What stood out to me was the crisp texture of the tempura and katsu - only callout here is that the katsu was cut into thinner slices which you might not prefer if you like thicker slices. Overall, I'm glad I found this gem and I'm looking forward to a future visit!

The good: fresh, quality ingredients The bad: started with the host/wait list. I accidentally added my name twice for a solo diner. Host thought it was a mistake and completely removed me from the wait list and seated other parties that came in after me. Thoroughly confused - she didn't even call my name to confirm so I had to go up to her and ask. No apology either. Was seated at the counter where solo diners usually sit. Service was non existent. Server came up to me and ask "what would you like to order?" I've never been there before. No "hi my name is ... I'll be your server" nada. They're just a machine - people in people out. The ramen - broth was fine. The squiggly noodles aren't my favorite. Expected to have kernel corn but had corn ribs instead (good thing I'm good with chopsticks!) The charshu was just okay. Enoki topping was just ... aight. The nice touch was that they didn't put it in the ramen and served it on the side to preserve its crunchiness because it definitely needed the texture! It was loud, busy, and nothing spectacular about the dining scene here. $55 dollars later (ramen, 2 additional toppings, one box of sake) ... I sadly don't think it was worth it.

Only lag was when we ordered 2 nigiri at the end and it took a really long time but I think the sushi chefs lost the order or something. Delicious sukiyaki, chicken skewers, cold tofu, salmon rolls, hamachi sashimi, Ikura and uni, tuna and Ikura nigiri, and hamachi Kama (not sure why they charge $21 and then $7 for a large when it is two small dollars that came out though). Decent wine selection - Chardonnay was good. Restaurant itself is fairly loud, especially with a baby that kept crying. But it might have been crying because it was loud. Owners should consider the Constellation System by Meyer Sound to make the dining experience more enjoyable for patrons. As this is a longtime bastion of Japanese food in the Bay, they should really invest in the sound portion of their restaurant. Now, we get to dine here as a family, and that nostalgic treat feels all the more satisfying. Food (4 stars) + Ribeye teriyaki was a hit--tender, cooked to perfection, and the kids loved it! + Lamb chop was a standout--one piece, but perfectly grilled, juicy, and tender. I could eat 2 of these with a bowl of rice and it would be a hearty meal! + Chicken karaage was solid--crispy, good portion, and a nice appetizer. It's basically a Japanese version of chicken strips that is way better than nuggets. + Salmon sashimi for the kids never disappoints. ~ Chirashi bowl was fresh and filling, though standard compared to other spots. There was a lot of rice which if we knew that we probably would've skipped the extra bowl I ordered to eat with my lamb chops. For the somewhat premium pricing, I wish they provided fresh chopped wasabi. ~ Stuffed mushroom skewer was just okay--tasty but nothing special. I guess for mushrooms it does taste kinda like a chicken meatball which could be a good thing. Service/Ambiance (4 stars) + Attentive and thoughtful service, especially accommodating a broken foot. They let my family wait at the bar instead of standing. + Ambiance is that classic Japanese vibe, busy but comfortable. Maybe not high-end, but definitely a place that feels special--especially now that we can afford it!
