Nice selection of sushi. The wait for food took about 40 minutes. Food does not come to your table at one time. Had the blacked fish tacos, they are OK, half of it is coleslaw, and it was lightly flavored. Tsunami roll was quite plain, if it didn't come with the sauce I wouldn't care for it. Gyoza, I assume, was store bought. Atmosphere was chill, beachy, perfect for Encinitas. Would I come here again or recommend it, most likely not. read more

Its all about Monday's half off rolls! Also there is a check in offer for a free garlic edamame which is way better than the regular edamame so definitely give that a whirl. Our server was great! Since we arrived right at the prime dinner hour 6:30pm there was a little bit of a what for our sushi, 30 minutes roughly. So we loaded up on some appetizers and drinks. The vegetable goza was great I would reccomend that to start is you need something to hold you over. The server told us it would be a very long wait so we were expecting an hour worst case so when the sushi came out in half that time we were stoked and tipped our hats to the server. I was literally wearing a hat a tipped it to the server...call me old fashion. The spider, crunchy , rainbow, and red dragon rolls were excellent and most importantly they were one the half off list for Monday. I guess my best piece of advice I guess my best piece of advice would be if you are trying this place for the first time definately go on Monday night and maybe go a little later say 8pm or later. The place is open until 10pm and really starts to empty out after the main dinner rush. I plan to become a regular at this place so long as the Monday half off deal is still running. read more

My family use to eat here regularly, but the last couple times we've been in it hasn't been a good experience. The ramen was so salty it was inedible and the service was extremely slow. Also, my three children ordered kids meals which included drinks. The waiter brought out three tall lemonades and charged us for the three drinks. When I questioned him about it he said we got charged for three drinks because they got tall drinks. We specifically ordered off the kids meal which included a free drinks. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by Sushi Lounge even though I was a little leery discovering it was in a shopping mall. However, it was clean, spacious and had a nice easy atmosphere. Our waiter was attentive and had some good recommendations. They put some fusion twists on their sushi rolls, most of which work -- they had a yuzu sauce for one of that was bright and flavorful. I'm a bit of a sushi snob -- I refuse to go just anywhere, and will usually wait it out until I can get to Sushi Ota. Places that make busy cutesy-named rolls are usually hiding inferior grade sushi. However, I ordered a sashimi plate here -- there's nowhere to hide with sashimi -- and was impressed with the freshness and flavor of all four of the selections. Most places, you can tell the fish has been in the fridge too long and all of its flavor dissipated. Each fish had its own distinct flavor, and really fresh texture. It's a bit noisy and crowded at times, but worth the effort. I have the special Hawaii 5 Oh roll with no rice - great for calorie counting. My husband loves the sashimi salad - lots and lots of fish, and a great light dressing on the greens. Just went there for lunch, when walking in the restaurant it smell like someone piss on the floor. The spicy tuna roll doesn't have any flavor at all. Same goes for the chicken teriyakai. The service wasn't good at all. She came by when I to asked if everything was ok when I was already to leave. What you want me to said. I dno't usually complained at all. I was the only one in the restaurant at that time. I been to almost all the sushi restaurant in San Diego and North County and this is probably the worst and I will not return to this place again. read more

This is for the sushi and service. The fish is extremely fresh and the sushi thoughtfully put together and not rushed. You can tell that they really care about the final product. I love the unusual ingredients like enoki mushrooms in sushi that give it a little different twist. My waitress was attentive and provided some great suggestions. We have been going to the sushi lounge Encinitas for a little over two years. Good vibes, great food and excellent service. Really nice variety of the specialty rolls, I recommend the Chronic and Chuck Norris rolls. If you get the opportunity to sit with Hector at the sushi bar you will not be disappointed. This was our first visit. Went for an early dinner with our 4 year old and a few friends. Service was friendly and attentive. Food arrived quickly and was presented very well. My only issue is that the rolls we ordered seemed to lack distinct flavor. The flavor profile from roll to roll seemed to be very similar even though we ordered rolls with different ingredients. The Chimichanga roll was a hit with our friends from out of town but probably because it was fried and stood out as different from the others. I've lived in Japan and sampled sushi all over the world and while this wasn't by any means bad - it also wasn't enough to get me to recommend to friends yet. We'll give the restaurant another try to see if we just dined on a bad night for the chef. read more

Not sure why it took me so long to write this review since we've been here several times now. They definitely serve the freshest sushi around. Some of our favorites are: Haji Roll, Albacore special and Tsunami Roll! Yum!!! A MUST TRY though is the Jaimepeno!!!! Our favorite sushi chef is Jamie! He's very friendly and you can tell he really enjoys his job. His service is immaculate and his sushi is creative and delicious!! We always bring our kids with us because they love sushi too! Jamie is always attentive to them and even goes above and beyond to ask if they want things modified to their liking and he cuts their rolls in smaller pieces so they can fit them in their little mouths. Sushi lounge has become our families little addiction! We all love it. The Manager Barry is also helpful and friendly and always asks to make sure everything was to our liking! Worst service ever. Rude staff. I think the lecture I got about a stroller was from the manager. He wasn't going to accommodate the stroller. He relented and sat us. 18 minutes later someone acknowledged our presence. Ordered a bottle of beer. 16 minutes later I left because of no service. I went to sushi lounge with many high expectations and left with none. Unfortunately my experience did not go beyond the front door. When I entered the restaurant the waiting area was full (even though the restaurant itself was not). I was greeted by a family of four before I was greeted by the hostess (a blonde woman who was wearing a black and white striped shirt who, might I add was standing directly in front of me). The family in front of my party explained to me that they had been waiting for quite sometime and the hostess never acknowledged them. My friends and I waited very patiently ( still approximately 3ft away from the hostess) as the hostess calmly stood there, looking at a receipt for another order. Not once, within the 10 minutes of us being in the space, did ANYONE greet us or explain to us why we were actually waiting. There were PLENTY of tables ( and employees). When I calmly and politely confronted the hostess about her overall behavior and lack of basic customer service skills, she just blew me off . So we left and are now happily eating at a restaurant where the employees acknowledge their customers. I am very disappointed in the quality of service at sushi lounge...or should I say lack there of. read more
