I flew into College Station for a meeting and needed something quick, so I figured AYCE sushi at Sushi Masa would be an easy in-and-out lunch. That part didn't quite go as planned. The place was packed for a Wednesday lunch, which is usually a good sign. Luckily, they've got bar seating, so I didn't have to wait long. The vibe is nice--modern, a little loud, but still easy enough to hold a conversation. Definitely feels like a spot that works well for small groups, though they could probably handle bigger ones with a reservation. My server was actually great--super attentive and doing their best. The issue was clearly coming from the kitchen. Orders got messed up twice, and it was taking 15+ minutes just to get a single roll. By the time everything got corrected, I had already been there for over an hour and had to ask for the check and head out. Food-wise, it's pretty standard AYCE sushi. The lunch menu is a lot more limited compared to dinner, so if you're going for variety (especially sashimi), dinner is probably the better move. Pricing is about what you'd expect, and the refillable soda is a nice bonus. Overall, not a bad spot, but not ideal if you're in a rush. If the kitchen can keep up with the volume, this place would be a lot more enjoyable. read more

After two visits, I can say this is a really nice place that is efficient with good service, a nice ambiance, and tasty food. Eric R. and I came here this summer while in BCS and thought it was worth returning this past weekend. The all you can eat price is $32.95 and includes a beverage (soda, sake, beer, or wine)! The first time it was just Eric R. and I, but this time we had a party of 7. Despite a busy Friday night, we were seated within five minutes of getting on the list! Our server was very patient with us and very nice. The food started coming quickly, and everyone was very satisfied. The AYCE includes two pages of sushi, sashimi, rolls, hand rolls, salads, soups, appetizers, tempura, and desserts. There is a bigger a la carte menu with more options, but the AYCE has plenty of choices for the cost and includes two hours of time. We were able to watch the Friday night playoff game on TVs in the room we were in. This is a huge place with numerous rooms and bars. There is also plenty of parking. Very good experience for the price. We got the AYCE dinner (for only $33) and it was a pretty expansive and diverse menu. The appetizers and sushi rolls were delicious, the teriyaki was good, and the desserts were really good. The quality of service kept oscillating between very good and average. Why very good? Because our server was friendly and kept checking on us and the food was served quite fast, considering that it is made to order. Why average? Because our server forgot to provide us any cutlery or napkins, and seemed a bit distracted when taking our orders, and dropped stuff three times on the floor when collecting our plates. I had so much fun at Sushi Masa! As someone who isn't a huge fan of sashimi or a ton of raw fish, there were SO many options for me! My family members and I each got the "all you care to eat" menu option and we went to town! I enjoy so many dishes and certainly broke even in terms of pricing. Our waitress was so kind and attentive. Once we received our utensils it was truly off to the races. Our waitress came by consistently to take our orders and she was extremely patient with how many times we asked for more. Here is a breakdown of what I ordered as part of the "all you care to eat" option, including the dishes' original pricing: 1. Miso soup $3 2. Seaweed salad $6 (YUM) 3. Gyoza $6 4. Spicy Salmon roll $5.50 (LOVED THESE) 5. Spicy Salmon roll $5.50 6. Chicken noodles $6 7. Strawberry ice cream $4 8. Fried Oreos $5.50 (SO GOOD) The total cost of the "all you care to eat" dinner option was around $36 (based on my memory). The actual total of the food I order, if I had ordered each item individually, would have been around $42 which means it was well worth it! Everything was totally delicious, too! My brother ordered even more items and got his total value up to around $85 which is even crazier! Obviously, it all depends on how much you want to eat that night. A great sushi place! For about $20 for the lunch special, you get all-you-can-eat sushi with a great variety of sushi options! I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 because I would say the sushi quality at Aji Sushi is slightly higher, although the difference is Sushi Masa is an all-you-can-eat buffet whereas at Aji you order each roll individually so the quality difference makes sense. (For comparison, I think Sushi Masa sushi is MUCH better than Atami's sushi.) One of the best parts is the ambiance inside: the wood decor and blue lighting is surreal and gives very zen vibes. The beauty of the restaurant is unparalleled, and the interior decorator definitely deserves a raise! Lastly, for the all-you-can-eat, I'd recommend placing orders for multiple dishes at the same time since it could be 10 minutes before your server walks by again. (Also, I remember the kitchen taking a long time to order more upfront so you don't have to wait!) Overall, it's a great restaurant - I might visit it again with some friends! read more

Wowow!!!! Our family thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant! Every single thing our family ordered was prepared perfectly. My grandchildren really liked their clear soup. My house salad was prepared with a very tasty ginger dressing. My grandson loved the fried Oreos. I tried the red bean ice cream. It was pretty good, as well. I had to say something to get service. The Manager attempted to help us but forgot my Chicken teriyaki order and I sat waiting for my food while my family ate all theirs. When I asked about my food he said I didn't order anything but I looked home in the eye and ordered Gyoza and chicken teriyaki. My Wife and daughter looked at him and said he told you chicken teriyaki that's why I asked for a salad (which I ate). This manager needs to be fired. Sushi Masa is my favorite sushi place. I've been here a few times, and the buffet is always my go-to. They offer a great variety--appetizers, fried rice, noodles, steak, chicken, shrimp, and plenty of sushi. To finish it off, they have dessert options like fried cheesecake or ice cream for that sweet-tooth craving. There is a 2-hour limit, but honestly, I've never needed more than an hour. First time being and tbh the service was pretty bad. The all you can eat is a 2 hour limit but the server takes so long coming to the table with drinks and food. They never really check up on you and it was not busy at all as well so there was no reason for that. The quality of the rolls were terrible as well, it just tasted super weird and old. I liked the desert and fried rice only. It's just not worth it at all. It was my first and last time there. The environment is really nice but the tables are super close to each other. Came here for the first time with my wife and friends for lunch. Whether you can eat a lot or not, doing the all-you-can lunch or dinner buffets isa must. The lunch is $21 and the dinner is $33. They serve different things. We got the lunch because at the time, we didn't know they served the all-you-eat dinner all day. It is not like a buffet setup, but more like an all-you-can order type style. It was definitely worth it and I definitely at for 3-4 people so I made my money back. The all-you-eat lunch special also comes with refillable soft drinks or tea while dinner is the same or your first free alcoholic beverage. We ordered so much different types of sushi that I don't remember all the names of each one. They do have a large selection. Although I came from a place like Hawaii, fresh fish will never be an option here in Texas, buuuuut considering that, this place actually did really well in serving delicious sushi that was very flavorful. They also had some sushi that are off the menu so if you're interested, just ask. It might cost an additional $1-$2 more for it. I ordered soft shelled crabs which are one of my favorites. The unagi (eel) and inari (bean curd) are favorites as well. Our waiter, John was amazing and friendly. He walked us through everything and answered all our questions and went the extra mile in researching some of the questions he couldn't answer on his own. Parking is large and there's a lot of tables to dine at. The ambience is cozy and nice with fake cherry blossom trees. I was a bit unsure when my daughter suggested an all you can eat sushi place. I've been to others and the sushi was not very good or the portions were giant so i couldn't really try a number of different things. Sushi Masa was surprisingly different! First of all, the restaurant was very clean and the decor was attractive. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. We started off with Kani Naruto rolls which were ok, I personally don't love the fake crab, shrimp and sweet potato tempura (2 pieces of each) dumplings which were excellent and Inari (seasoned rice in tofu skin) which was also excellent. Luckily for me, the portions were on the small side or else I would not have been able to try any else.we asked for some edamame while we decided on what else to order. They were perfectly cooked and salted. On the second go round we ordered a crunchy roll and an I-10 roll, they were both good but would have been better (for me) if the I-10 didn't have the fake crab. It did have mango though, so I liked it. The last thing we tried were the noodles, they were very good. I wish I had more room because there were many other things on the menu that looked inviting. We were full but of course we had to have fried Oreos! We were there for lunch so it was less expensive than the all you can eat dinner, we absolutely got a good deal, AYCE lunch was only $20.95 and we for sure ate more that $20.95 worth of food! We left there stuffed and couldn't even eat dinner. If I am ever in that area of Texas again, Sushi Masa will be my first stop! read more
