The first time I came here the food was not great and it was super busy. However, I feel like the food this go around was not bad. The food is definitely salty so just a fair warning. Ribeye Steak: compared to other hibachi places it is reasonably priced. The portion is not too bad and the steak was really juicy. Raspberry lemonade martini: It tasted just like raspberry lemonade. The alcohol taste is really light. Overall, pretty tasty! Hibachi: The fried rice was super good and the vegetables are also so good. However, if you sit on the end with strangers you are gonna get a much less portion than others (I spread out the rice to make it look better). This place was awesome! We did the hibachi experience and I got the Atami Special, which comes with steak, shrimp, and chicken--everything was delicious. The chef made the experience fun (I didn't catch his name, unfortunately). We also tried the Shaggy Dog sushi roll and it was so good. Definitely recommend it. 10/10 recommend the Hibachi :) Our chef was so experienced and such an entertainer. Me and my party had an excellent time hearing his tales of the Japanese caterpillar or seeing the conflagration he ignited in front of us! The atmosphere was charming as well, and the hibachi room was well-lit with soft yellow lights which enhanced the grandiose feel of the entire experience. The food was incredible as well - and I got the NY steak (shown below). The meat was so flavorful and tender (got it medium rare). I will definitely go back for dinner and a show! read more

Me and a guest were seated around 8pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant wasn't busy, and only three tables in the non-hibachi side were occupied. When we were seated and drink orders taken, we were only given one menu. The waitress returned with our drinks and I asked for an additional menu. The waitress told us we could only have one menu because of how busy the restaurant was, and walked off. This seemed strange because there was a stack of menus by the host stand and right after she walked off a couple was seated next to us and given two menus. During this time I noticed that other customers were being taken to the hibachi side and given multiple menus. After watching this happen several times I went to the host stand and told them since I wasn't going to be given two menus, I was going leave. We were told that the table next to us didn't have two menus and that one was a drink menu, yet the two people there were holding them in their hands...meanwhile another waitress grabbed five menus to seat a party that just walked in. It may not seem like much, but if I'm ordering from your restaurant and ask for two menus (one for me and one for my dining partner) I should be given two menus. It's basic good customer service. Before leaving they charged us for a diet coke and iced tea, which we didn't touch, but at this point I was done with discussing anything with inconsiderate staff. Management: You lost my business tonight, and any future business that I might have given you, over something as simple as a requesting an additional menu for the other person at the table, while giving other tables menus for all their guests. Learn not to discriminate against your guests and adopt some basic customer service skills. read more

I have never felt the need to leave a review for any restaurant I have gone to. But this one, oh boy I don't know who needs to be taught or fired but something needs to change! For starters we got DoorDash and half our meal was missing, we didn't get a phone call to let us know they were out of their 13oz ribeye and if we wanted something different for the same price or a refund, they also left out our sauces for the order that we put in special instructions. They don't give refunds nor offer to pay for our food or make up for the fact we had to drive to the store because their phones don't work!!! For someone who works in a restaurant and knows what you're supposed to do when something like this happens. It was a terrible experience and I won't be ordering from here again! read more

So I took my family yesterday for the all you can eat sushi we as avid sushi eaters, who even bring our own chopsticks to restaurants was highly disappointed by their sushi selection. Meh. It was just ok. First off, the grills don't have slots to put the burnt food, extra oil and just anything that needs to be thrown out during the cooking process. It collects on the side (happened to be MY side of the grill) and the chef puts it in a dish and takes it away when he's done cooking. It's not appetizing to look at. The grill also didn't look clean when we sat down. I'm used to places that clean really good between guests so it's not dripping with oil before the cooking even starts. I also find tip jars on the chef cart to be tacky. I always tip for service, assume they tip share with the chefs and I have given chefs tips on their own too if I was blown away by the service. Keeping a plastic tip bucket on the cart is just tacky. The food portions aren't that big compared to other hibachi restaurants. But the real fly in the ointment was the sauce! Sauce is life and I pretty much live for the creamy yum yum sauce at every hibachi place. I looked around and noticed that no one around us had sauce and it wasn't offered during the cooking process so I asked the chef and he poured me some... everyone else (who must have gone there before) declined the sauce. I see why!! It was like an overly salted horseradish sauce and not at all like the creamy chick fil a sauce knock off that I'm used to. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Restaurant is in a great place in college station and looks great inside as well. Try to appetizers the lettuce wraps were my favorite. All of their sauces they use are really good, probably the best thing there. My friends got bento boxes but the quality of the fried foods was not well. I recommend getting unfried rolls, undon, or any of the appetizers on the menu since the taste of their fried food is not the best and gets a but much. I got the Yaki Udon and 2 rolls. First trip in. I know that COVID makes us deal with some really weird stuff at restaurants; however, service should be EXCELLENT if you only have 1/2 of the tables filled? Server quality is the only thing that will save some of these restaurants. Oh well, our server was training a NEW server (I hope the trainee didn't follow all of his leads because 2 teas and a water took 10 minutes, the lemons were requested three times before arriving, the chicken didn't make it until after a three course meal, we had to ask twice for utensils). There was a good deal of confusion when I arrived by the hostess who firmly said "we don't seat partial parties because of the presentation" leading me to sit in the lobby while my already seated (at the hibachi) co-workers wondered where I was at. We have only been to Atami for the hibachi but we have always had a good experience. This past time the service was very slow so hence not 5 stars- the service of the actual cook has always been great but the service of the waiter who's taking your drink order, etc. could use some Improvement. The prices are high especially for dinner but it's an experience and the quality of the food has always been very delicious. I would definitely recommend going for their lunch because although the portions are smaller, it's much more affordable! We have tried the jalepeno appetizer which was so good! read more

I didn't have high expectations for sushi here in college station only because I have yet to find a place that tops the ones in Cali. In college station for a work trip and had to follow company covid requirements so had to order takeout. Sushi and tataki items were okay. It was terrible and definitely scratched my itch for sushi, but it definitely wasn't the best I've had and certainly had better elsewhere. Ordered by phoned and they said it's be ready in 30 minutes, but I when I showed up, it wasn't ready and had to wait an additional 20-30 minutes to get the food. The packaging for take out was also messy as the tataki order spilled everywhere in the bag and made a mess when I got to my hotel room. Not cool. I'll give them a try again, but not anytime soon. read more
