One of the best places to get raw, fresh fish close to campus! On the outskirts of Century Square, Pokeworks has a special place in my heart for its delicious, healthy food and modern vibe. Whenever I'm hankering for raw fish but don't want to drive, I hit up Pokeworks. After much experimentation, I like their Yuzu Ponzu salmon the best over the Ahi Tuna. I have found the salmon has a lighter, fresher taste (although this is just personal preference). You can put as many toppings on as you wish free of charge (except for avocado which is extra). I'd highly recommend putting as many crunchy toppings on as possible and trying the fresh onion for a sharp wake-you-up flavor. Pineapple as also my go-to. The staff is always super friendly (all college students) and the cashier even offered me a 15% discount when my $5 sign-up bonus coupon did not work! While Pokeworks is just a tad too far to go in between classes, it does make a nice weekend treat! read more

Went here for lunch today with mom. While it is a bit expensive for the large bowl (it was $50 for 2) you get a lot for that price. I got the shrimp, spicy ahi tuna and salmon over a salad with avocado and cream cheese added. I also included corn and edamame and sesame seeds with the poke works classic dressing. Coming in with no expectations because I know poke places on the mainland would be nothing like it is in hawaii. With that being said it was still pretty disappointing. Overpriced. Overpriced. Overpriced!!! I should have just known to say nevermind i no longer want to eat here and run when I saw they gave my husband a small PINCH (not even exaggerating) of seaweed salad... and when he asked for a little more they said 'it would be a dollar upcharge" a dollar for another small pinch???? Wow. Cmon! Anyway, the place is similar to like subway, u can order specialty Bowls that have already been created or you can build your own and add what you want / don't want. I tried the yuzu salmon, the salmon was ok. I opt for the heavy seasoning, but it still lacked flavor. White rice was a little undercooked. Brown rice was very undercooked. They gave very little amount of fish. My husband built his own bowl. Tuna wasn't fresh. Again no flavor. And even for a " large" bowl.. there wasn't much fish. I get places charge extra for things but... it was def over priced and not worth the amount given, not even close. I also got the pineapple dole whip ice cream... it was completely melted when they handed it to me. When I asked if they could remake it ? Or something? The worker just shrugged her shoulder and said 'the machine is down. U get whet u get' are u kidding me? Also, if u, as a worker knew the machine is down..when a customer orders it.. why don't you let the customer know???? So the customer can l3t u know.. I don't want a melted what is suppose to be ice cream!! Sure, there aren't many options for poke in the area.. so maybe if you're REALLY craving poke and need to kill the craving .. go for it. I eat at Pokeworks in Houston a lot, and this was a " dud" of an experience. They were out of greens, out of salmon, and offered no fountain drinks. ALL the bubblers were empty. I understand it was spring break, but that's no reason to skimp on the usual things one would expect. I'm sure the franchise owner would not want that. Came in at around 8 on a Friday night when they close at 9, wasn't greeted, let us order and pay for our food before letting us know that we weren't allowed to actually eat inside because they're "lobby was closed". Very small servings and the employees are super rude. I paid for a large and got maybe a total of six salmon/tuna pieces. Ate here for the first time with my kids. I will not be boased because I'm from Hawaii and the poke here will never taste or look like what I'm used to. With that being said, my son and I did find it being pretty delicious in it's own way. They serve the poke like it's subways where you choose your type of fish, sauces, etc. overall flavorful and for a decent price. My son and I ordered the Spicy Ahi bowl and we were impressed. Again, not like Hawaii, but delicious nonetheless. We also ordered the garlic spam musubi and it was pretty delicious, but quite pricey for such a small item. Visiting our daughter at A&M and she took us to her favorite poke' restaurant. Pokeworks is just a couple of blocks from campus. They have a choice of several preset dishes or you can build your own. They give you a base choice of greens, rice, or kale noodles. I have never the seen the kale noodles before. They have multiple choices for your protein and you can select either 2 or 3. They also offer numerous toppings and sauces. I chose the kale noodles with spicy tuna and shrimp. I chose all but 3 of the toppings. They noodle had a good flavor and cooked al dente. Nice texture. The tuna and shrimp were flavorful. The portion was very large. My daughter took half of her bowl home. Prices were very reasonable compared to other poke' restaurants. Pokeworks is definitely on my 'Keepers List'. read more

I love coming here- the food is delicious & fresh. I usually come a few times a week. My only problem is that there seems to be a pretty big discrepancy on how they fill the bowls. I always mobile order a large & add on extras as I can usually get two meals out of it, however a handful of times lately I've been getting barely filled bowls. It seems they tend to skip on the toppings when it's to-go orders rather than when they're building it in front of you. This is the second poke location within College Station that I have had the pleasure of visiting, and by far it is the better of the two. The former was not bad, but Pokeworks has much fresher ingredients and varied options that make it a very clear victor. The poke bowl I ordered had rice, salmon, ahi tuna, your standard poke bowl. Then, you get mix ins, which I promoted for sea weed (highly recommended), edamame, and corn. The next process is picking a sauce. Frankly, all of them seem fantastic, but I opted for one of the umami sauces and I will tell you it was fantastic. One of the best parts is that they ask whether you would like a light, heavy, or medium amount of sauce. I will tell you that medium is a great balance of coating the toppings and getting some nice rice in with it. But if you really want some of their great sauce, opt for a heavy pump. Regardless, I also got kimchi, sliced nori, garlic, and horseradish wasabi. Despite being a bit heavy on the wasabi, it was still fantastic and all was wonderfully balanced. All of that is to say that every ingredient was perfectly fresh and great for me. Especially the fish. People were complaining about a lack of fresh ingredients before, but as of October of 2021 it seems they have fixed this issue. The only single gripe I could possibly have is, as I said, the wasabi was a bit much, but even then it was fine and it did not unbalance the bowl and ruin everything else. Another great thing to mention is their three selections of tea! I tried both the Rose Hibuscus and Mandarin Cadamium and they were both fantastic! My personal favorite is the Mandarin, but I am sure all three are great. They are all sweet, and if you do not want anything crazy like that they have a nice black sweet tea that you would normally see around in Texas. Overall, the teas are nice, and I look forwards to trying a dessert next in the future. As a first time visitor, I have a very high view of this restaurant. The insides were very clean, as were the bathrooms (a great sign for every restaurant is clean bathrooms) and the general atmosphere of the entire inside was very bright and colorful. Getting my food was easy, and the staff were so easy to work with, though a bit timid- but that's alright. I greatly look forward to coming back in the future after my evening classes to grab some great food and hang out in the wonderful area surrounding it. As a small tip, they have an app! And if you download their Pokeworks app, you will get 5$ off your first bowl! So if you're looking for a new poke place to try in the area that's close to Campus (very close to the Zachary building actually), then I highly recommend downloading the app and headed down to Pokeworks. Food was great and the staff was helpful, my only complaint is that they put SO much chili oil on my food. I'm no stranger to spice and love a drizzle of chili oil on my poke, so when I ordered it I expected a reasonable amount to be used. I wasn't prepared for the ENORMOUS scoop of oil to be tossed in with my veggies and protein. Everything was coated in a thick layer of chili oil and it was the only thing I could taste throughout the entire bowl. If I had been eating in I would have requested the bowl remade, but I was unfortunately headed back to work and picking up something to eat in the break room. I'd like to go back and try the poke again in the future, but this time SPECIFY to use an easier hand on the oil. read more

This place was having a Grand Opening event and it was buy one get one so I had to go! I love sashimi and sushi in general, so I was excited to see this chain in a town like College Station. I paid around $12-$13 for everything which isn't bad, but definitely on the pricier end if I had gone on a regular day. I'm happy to say that their fish is very fresh and delicious! I got the large portion, which comes with three meats so I ordered the salmon, tuna, and spicy salmon. I have visited this location several times and while I do think the Poke is very good and always fresh, the customer service has gone way down here. I waited in line today holding my 3 year old for over 10 minutes before I was helped. Instead of making her 2 bowls at the same time they made one, then started all over to make her another one. They filled at least 2 online orders while I was standing there right in front of them. I was finally helped and felt rushed. They also had the audacity to ask for a tip at the register! I have been here twice before when my points are not added to my account even though my loyalty was supposedly scanned. I am shocked there are not more reviews about the customer service here. I have been here multiple times (7-8 times)... and I have LOVED them every single time! They are probably the best poke place in College Station and I wish miss them so much when I have to leave. For $11ish dollars, they provide you with a ton of topping options. Many of which other joints charge extra for, like seaweed salad, surimi salad, edamame, tobiko, Pokeworks offer for free. The fish is free and perfectly cut into pieces. I prefer mine not too big because it doesn't allow you to have an even bite, but not too small where it doesn't feel like you're eating bite size fish. They give you the best bang for your buck in terms of portion sizes as well. One regular size bowl will fill you up. They have many sauce options that you can try out. If you don't like a lot of sauce; go with the "Low" amount since the "Medium" is still very saucy. Overall, I'm obsessed with this place! This is a must go. My experience with the cashiers is they've been nice and patient. There's a lot of seating inside and a drink station. It's located in the Century Square and parking outside is now free, so there's really no reason for you not to go there. read more

I was super excited to try a pokebowl!! The staff working was welcoming and friendly. I decided to create my own bowl... everything was going well until I got to the cream cheese. There was a long hair hanging off the cream cheese scoop. I pointed it out to the worker, who bless his heart seemed super embarrassed. The manager or owner overheard what was going on and nonchalantly just said "don't charge for the cream cheese." No apology or anyrhint. This place really needs to work on maintaining the consistent quality of its ingredients. I'd say 50% of the time I go now, at least one ingredient is not fresh. I've mostly noticed that salmon is an item that often goes bad, turning into a pasty white color and tasting wrong. I asked the person behind the counter if they could serve me from a new batch of salmon but they insisted that that's all they had.
