An easy 5/5 slam dunk! I would rate them higher if I could. I love going to Aji for their low prices, fresh sushi, and out-of-this-world food. I would especially recommend the Poke Bowl (~$13) and the Cherry Blossom rolls (~$9). The Poke Bowl comes with an assortment of fish (tuna, salmon, white fish) and the balance between fish, rice, and toppings (avocado, cucumber, "crunchies") is superb. The Cherry Blossom has tuna on top and salmon & avocado in the middle - scrumptious! There is a calming vibe to the restaurant with ample seating area. The decor is sleek, modern, and unobtrusive. I haven't tried using their bathroom, but I typically prefer my porcelain throne at home. Every time I come, the servers are always very prompt and friendly. You can tell they are college students so I always make sure to tip! I have no complaints - I only wish I could go a million times to try everything on the menu! read more

aji! one of the first good sushi spots i tried in when i was new to bcs and the OG local sushi restaurant i always come back to. personally my favorite aspects of aji are their lunch menu with nice prices for a selection of different rolls, as well as their sushi bowls! the unagi bowl, while a bit heavier on the rice than the eel, is huge and could even last you two portioned meals if you wanted! i like to get one bowl and then one or two rolls to split with whoever i'm eating with :) speaking to the quality of the rolls and fish, i have no complaints! everything comes out at a good temperature, has great preparation, and tastes nice. i will say, nowadays, i swing between aji if im feeling good quality rolls and bowls and sushi masa if i just want to enjoy all you can eat sashimi. but with the cost of sushi masa, aji is the OG and a great alternative for not overspending but still leaving full & satisfied with their great quality sushi! service is very friendly and helpful with suggestions, and the ambiance is very warm with good seating arrangements and decor. overall: 9.5/10 taste: 10/10 price*: 9/10 *depending on what you order, i'd call some rolls and certainly the sashimi more expensive than i'd buy, but for the items i order (bowls, lunch rolls, etc.) it's good :) read more

I've been coming to this place for years! It is my go-to sushi place, no matter where I am at. The rolls are large and tasty and the prices are reasonable! I highly recommend the baked salmon roll but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is impeccable. I've always been seated quickly and the staff is extremely attentive and approachable. I've never had a bad experience in any sort of sense at this establishment. Personally I love the vibe of the place. It is what you're paying for. Not super fancy or snooty, just a casual sushi restaurant where your main goal is to get some pretty darn good sushi without breaking the bank. I'd give this place more than 5 stars if I could. I have been going to A Ji for years. I've experienced sushi all over, best sushi in Houston doesn't hold a candle to A Ji, right here in good ole CStat. I've tried every sushi place in the Brazos Valley multiple times (Blu Fin, Oishi, Naked Fish, 40 Tempura), I've tried them all, and more. Literally no one compares to A Ji. It's just the best. Period. From ANYWHERE. If you care about yourself, get the chefs special surprise roll and a nigiri flight. If you really care about yourself, get the truffle oil platter. It changes lives. Their salad is so crispy and the lettuce is so fresh, and the salad dressing is so indescribably perfect (not Mayo based...you'll want to drink it) and they have THE BEST miso. Everything is good. Service is always beyond satisfactory and the rolls are just the best in town (and maybe in America). To say this is a "hidden gem" would be an understatement. The ONLY thing negative you could possibly say is sometimes, especially on hot summer days, it's a little warm inside. So, if that is going to ruin your experience, go at night, when it's cooler. But the broth and toppings were good. I removed a star because the restaurant refuses to adopt the standard of proper noodle to go containers so the noodles aren't further cooking in the broth as you run it home. proper technique would be to split the broth and noodles/toppings in separate containers so the noodles aren't soggy when you get home. We ordered online, and our order consisted of: 1 Shrimp Tempura Roll 1 Escolar Roll 1 Rainbow Roll 1 California Roll 1 Tiger Roll 1 Gyoza Let's start with prices -- the prices are on the cheaper side for sushi, but I have had better sushi for the same prices elsewhere. Yes, it was cheap, but the quality of the food was substantially lower than other places we've eaten at. The Shrimp Tempura Roll was the one I had and can attest to. I expected more from it, possibly some snow crab or even some avocado -- all it had was cucumber and a thin piece of shrimp tempura. I was disappointed when I realized what my Shrimp Tempura Roll contained. I honestly expected more. Little did I know, it was getting worse. Upon biting into the Shrimp Tempura, I realized it was quite oily. Not only was it oily, but the shrimp to batter ratio was unproportionate; there was more batter than shrimp, making it unappetizing. Overall, I don't think I would visit Aji Sushi again. For our entire order that cost $47.03, it was quite disappointing. Listen. This is my favorite sushi in BCS simply bc of the "salmon don." It's not fishy at all, and actually the salmon tastes like BUTTER. The rice on the bottom is so sweet, and it comes with cucumber strips and seaweed salad. It's a lot of food (two light eaters could probably share), but I always stuff myself and eat all of it bc it's that good.
