Kiko was our sushi chef at the bar, friendly and skilled, we ate our fill for lunch! This was our first time at this location but we had been to their sister location in Reno. Everything was delicious and the service was quick!

Really enjoyed the sushi selection. We opted for the lunch AYCE buffet which excluded some specialty rolls. Dinner AYCE buffet gives you the full menu but Lunch satisfied us. We got there close to opening and there were folks at the sushi bar, and 2 other tables seated. They have slips for you to fill out and no limit to how many to order. We selected majority of our meal during the first round. Overall it was great, service was quick but I'm not sure if their system would work if there were more patrons. Our waitress was nice to prepare a huge dessert for my husband's birthday! She was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely come back the next time we are in South Lake Tahoe.

Not sure what all of the fuss is about on their recent reviews for multiple one stars. I was on a mission to check them out again, it's been one year since my dad and I went in November 2024, where we had a lovely experience. Since this is the only all you can eat sushi restaurant in South Lake Tahoe, we knew this is where we wanted to go on this Tuesday night. We got there early to check out the casino that is connected to the restaurant and so we walked in shortly after 5 o'clock. We chose our seat at the bar, which is the best place to sit, in my opinion. Especially if you want great service, I recommend getting to know your sushi chef. We had the pleasure of meeting Francisco and I think he told us his nickname is Kiko. I started off by washing my hands in the bathroom, which was extremely clean and spotless so to my surprise, I thought, wow clean is a good sign. To make this short and sweet we ordered amazing Nigiri a couple of appetizers, buy one get one free house sake, and we only shared two long rolls because we filled up quickly. My only complaint was that I couldn't find anyone to fill up my water until the very end so Francisco filled it up for me. Sushi makes me thirsty! All in all we had a four star experience and I'll keep it at that for now.

Surprise fee. Dirty dish. Poor food quality. I was pretty sad about this experience. I had come here in 2019 when my son was an infant, and today I was trying to recreate a good memory. Even my son, who is now 7, wasn't happy with this place. Food prices don't match the quality, the grocery store has better sushi without hidden fees and tip pressure. I won't return again. Even the staff seemed unhappy and burned out, likely because they have to deal with unhappy customers all day. I know that it's not their fault and this is just a business going downhill. Lastly, the iconic sticker wall that was at the entrance is gone. I've worked in a fast casual sushi restaurant. I have a decent understanding of what sushi restaurant etiquette should be. This restaurant is an overall disappointment and waste of my money. As a single mother going out to eat is a rare and special occasion. This bad experience was hurtful.

    Really salty miso soup.

The food here was okay. Not the best, not the worst. Some items like the stuffed deep fried squid and upside down crab were pretty good. I didn't like that the nigiri and hand rolls had way too much rice. There was so much rice, we didn't even bother ordering sushi rolls and we did the AYCE. The rice was also hard. Kids' price for AYCE is the same as adults. For that, I am docking a star. They do have a kids menu to order separately from, but the fact that my two year old only took 4 bites of his food, it would have been nice to have the 3 and under eat free option. This is the first AYCE restaurant I've been to that doesn't have that. I ordered the miso soup and it was very salty. The quail egg shooters were also salty. I ordered the house salad thinking it was going to be made with green spring mix and a delicious sauce like other sushi restaurants. Instead, it was cabbage with a mayonnaise dressing which I did not like. Customer service was good and the waitress came over often. It's a decent and quiet little restaurant. Were I to come here again, I would skip the salmon and tuna hand rolls because they were simple and bland with tones of rice.

Got greeted and seated right away! Ended up doing all you can eat sushi and it was pretty good. The miso soup was really salty but other than that, the sushi itself was good! The place was spacious and lots of seating. All the workers were very nice and accommodating. I love how our orders got taken care of right away. Would go again to try other things.

Not the friendliest staff. The food is good and at a good price. Maybe not a lot of space to sit except for the bar.

Ask the Community - Sushi Pier Tahoe

Are there appetizers and other food included in the AYCE?

Yes. Appetizers and desserts as well.

If only a few people in your party want AYCE can others just order individual rolls or does everyone have to get AYCE?

Each customer may order AYCE or individual rolls as they would prefer. We ask that customers participating in the AYCE do not share their items with those ordering individually. Thank you!

Do they still serve AYCE sushi?

Yes they do, both for lunch and dinner, very limited seating right now so plan ob a bit of a wait

Difference between lunch or dinner AYCE?

All the same deal, not sure if night prices are different but we've been at lunch and dinner and their sushi is SUPERB. Service is great, staff is nice, food is outstanding !!!

How long is wait for dinner?

Unless you are in during off-hours or off-season, there is always a wait here but it is worth it <3

My favorite their salmon, add basil, garlic, olive oil, lemon, and lime juice for them to cook on the grill. . Also the salad bar is great with plenty of options to mix and match and dressing bar too. . Great options for carbs like pasta, egg noodles, orzo, and etc. Then pick the veggies and proteins and sauces. Then bring to the counter for them to cook it with a show too. . The proteins have your pork, chicken, beef, lamb, bacon, hot dog, burger, to seafood like shrimp, salmon, scallops. . Ambiance in here is like a lodge with great food and casual cozy seating. The food was authentic and not too greasy, making for a very pleasant dining experience. Sitting there, you naturally want to eat and chat slowly. Beef and broccoli of my dreams…read more.. Easily one of the best versions of this dish I've ever had. Tender beef, crisp-bright broccoli, and a glossy, savory sauce that clings to every bite. This one even had sweet, perfectly cooked carrots. The fried rice was also spot-on: silky egg, peas, carrots, and that familiar flavor so many of us love. Lunch specials run from 11-3 and come with soup, an egg roll, and your choice of rice or noodles. Portions are massive. My only issue, and unfortunately it's a big one, was the service. After taking my order, the gentleman serving me never returned to my table. I couldn't get sweet & sour sauce for my egg roll, and my water was never refilled. I raised my hand several times, but he walked by as if I wasn't there. Finally after waiting for over ten minutes when I was over it, I stood up hoping someone would notice and assume I was trying to leave without paying. That worked and I was immediately handed my check. Of course I still had to ask for a to-go container. The food alone is a 5 star rating, but the service brings the experience as a whole down to a 3. I love Chinese-American food, and this kitchen gets it. Not sure if my race or that I'm a woman was an issue, or if I just got the worst server they have. I hope this reaches the right person because I would like to come back but being ignored and feeling so unwelcome is disheartening.

I'll be honest, I didn't expect much as the location is close to lodging style resorts and was assuming something basic, boy was I wrong! The meat was soft, the bread was fluffy, the horseradish was on point and the dip for the sandwich was delicious. My wife let me have a couple bites of her sandwich and it was even better! Crispy toasted bread with garlic butter and cheese, soft tri tip with crispy lettuce and juicy tomatoes, ohh and don't forget about the bacon.. so good 5/5. Both these sandwiches were amazing and I haven't even got to the BBQ sauce, the three options they provide were all great, but our favorite was the green label, tomatoes and vinegar, 5/5.
