I stopped by The Oyster Bar at Stateline while in Lake Tahoe and waited about 35-40 minutes in line. Honestly, it wasn't too bad, especially considering how busy the place was. I ordered the 1 dozen oysters, clam linguine, and house salad. Oysters -- 7/10 The oysters were really fresh and shucked right in front of you, which was definitely a plus. They were a little too big for my liking and had a creamier texture than I prefer, but overall they were good. Clam Linguine -- 7/10 The linguine was solid. The portion was decent, and I liked the combination of clams, lemon, garlic, and Parmesan. Nothing that completely blew me away, but still a good dish. Might pass on the parmesan next time because it clunked up as it melted in the dish. House Salad The salad was actually pretty good and surprisingly large for a house salad. Fresh lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, olives, and plenty of croutons. Overall, everything is prepared fresh right in front of you, which I really enjoyed. The oysters being freshly shucked definitely added to the experience. The wait wasn't terrible, and if you're an oyster or seafood fan, it's worth stopping by while you're in Tahoe. We are a sucker for oyster bars wherever we go. Nothing beats Palace Station in Vegas but if you're in Lake Tahoe, this place does the trick to satisfy your craving. It's inside Golden Nugget. I'm rating 3.5 round to 4 stars. This bar seats about 14. We had a party of 5 and had a section to ourselves at the end. We got the House Roast Pan Roast and New England Clam Chowder. I was surprised they brought out the Pan Roast first. Right before we finished, we asked if the chowder was still coming out. I think they forgot. We also had to ask for crackers. The soup was thick with lots of clams. The pan roast was decent. It was thick and creamy with bits of crab, tons of shrimp, lobster, seafood. It came with a side of rice. The oysters were good. Forgot to ask where from. We had some Bloody Mary oyster shooters and a glass of MIO sparkling sake. That was refreshing, sweet just like moscato. Per annual tradition, my group's last dinner is at the Oyster Bar. Usually, I order the House Pan Roast (Creamy Tomato Seafood Stew), but I was hankering for oysters. Although Fried Oysters are not on the menu, I asked just to be sure and the staff confirmed that the Oyster Bar does not serve Fried Oysters. For the next best thing, I ordered a half dozen of fresh oysters (Stellar Bay from British Columbia) served with cocktail sauce with horseradish, a red wine mignonette and a white wine mignonette. The oysters were deliciously fresh and creamy. Additionally, I ordered the spicy Manhattan Clam Chowder. To be fair, I was warned that the soup was spicy and I am here to confirm, it's a medium spice level. Filled with potatoes and tomatoes, there's some clams in the chowder. For our first night in South Lake Tahoe we my husband decided to eat here and I was skeptical. Well let me tell you that I was glad he made that choice! The clam chowder was delicious and flavorful and it comes with these little cute crackers. I had the shrimp linguine and the cheese they placed on top was phenomenal. My husband had the BOUILLABAISSE it had Shrimp, Lobster, Crab Legs, Clams, Mussels, Cod and he said it was great and I tried it as well and he was right! It's a small bar but it's worth the wait. Confused on reviews mentioning the Palace Station Oyster. This does not do the trick or even comes anywhere close. We ordered the Lobster Pan Roast and it came in half the portion sized bowl compared to Palace Station but for the same price. Flavor was extremely off. Just tastes like tangy tomato? No hot sauce could save it. Clam Chowder was good but very thick and lacked clams. Oysters were fresh. Steamed Mussels were tasty. Definitely not a place I would ever wait in line for having experience delicious pan roast back in Los Angeles and Vegas. read more

Overall loved the food and the price was fair for everything, if you're looking for Cajun spice we don't really get that from our seafood boils and expect that the "sauce" you'd usually get from a boil is not what you get here - it's much more of a beer boil seasoning reminiscent of a seafood soup dish going on here but it's delicious and you get plenty of seafood with whatever you choose. This was our first visit to this fine establishment... I wish we had discovered it on our previous visit because it is so spectacular we have been two nights in a row and I can't tell you that NEVER has happened before. We had some of the most delicious sourdough bread to start and that's not saying less because my husband is a pastry chef and he makes it on the daily. So for our first visit we had Caesar salad, Gumbo, and Linguine and Clams everything was delicious! So much so my hubby persuaded me to return tonight for night two because he just had to have more.... We started with oysters on the half shell and they were briny, sweet, and ice-cold -- exactly how they should be. It's hard to come close to The Oyster Bar at Palace Station in Vegas, but The Oyster Bar at the Golden Nugget will certainly do the trick. You definitely won't be waiting hours to get a seat, which to me is a plus. The staff were really friendly and the food came out timely. I love coming here on Sunday because they open at 11:00 a.m. and it's the perfect timing for every time I'm about to go back home I have to stop by here and get me a seafood boil with noodles for The Hangover. I really like their Cioppino which is not to thick but is a little bit on the soupy side and it's really good with noodles in it. I also like their gumbo because it's simple and it's very flavorful and doesn't have too much ingredients in there that gets too overwhelming and have to use fingers. Also I do like their French seafood boil stew which is really rich and has Lobster in it with crab and other Seafood like mussels and clams and fish. I always like adding noodles to my seafood boil because it reminds me of ramen. Also I find the noodles very comforting and isn't too much of a carb. I also like their clam chowder which is really creamy and Rich and very flavorful and it is fillling too. The service here is always quick on their feet and refilling our water, with extra napkin and wet wipes. The Ambiance is casual and it is a bar top and it does get filled quickly. This place is fantastic!!! It's a must if you love seafood and are in Lake Tahoe! It gets busy so we went mid afternoon and there was no line! They have a small counter where they have their steamer pots. My Dad recommended the Bouillabaisse Special w/rice and roll, it's his go to. Everything is great but that's his #1 so we had to give it a try. WOW!!! The Lobster and Crab legs were to die for, along with shrimp, mussels, and clams. Came in on 8/23/25 We were walking around & we started smelling something good so we followed the smell & landed at the Oyster Bar. Cool vibes, small area but with good amount of chairs. No lie the vibe is chill. We both love Clam Chowerd & we saw that they had it & for only $10 it was so worth it. New England Clam Chowerd: 9/10 Fresh taste, lots of potatoes, classic etc.. in it. Really worth it. Only wish it was a little more thick but other than that it was amazing to the point were stood up & we couldn't walk from the food coma we got. Although it's not open 24 hours like the one in Vegas, it still delivers the same quality. We normally go for the House Pan Roast but opted for the Bouillabaisse this time around and we loved it even more than the Pan Roast!! I didn't even know that that was possible but we were in the mood to try something new. We sat at the bar around 2:30 PM on Valentine's Day because they don't do to go orders. (Not to self) 10 minutes after we sat down there was a line. There were only a 3 people eating plus us , but this place gets waves of people at all hours. It's best to try it at opening or in between lunch and dinner. We've had other items there like the jambalaya, which is just OK, nothing special. The peel and eat shrimp is a highlight if you're looking for an appetizer and you're willing to put in the work. Service was great and attentative. We came during the holiday time for a dinner. A group of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids). It seems like this place has filled the need of a seafood specialty restaurant in the area. The menu seems extensive for a small place but I think the chef or someone in the F&B department has come up with a very brilliant menu to ensure the smooth operations with a small team of staff. Most of the hot seafood entrees are some sort of stew like dish - Cioppino, Pan roasts, seafood boil, jambalaya, gumbo, and bouillabaisse are all dishes cooked in a very similar manner. The difference is the sauce/broth that is used in the dishes. With that said, that means this is not the place where you can get pan seared scallops or pan fried fish. I do recommend the pan roasts because the seafood are cooked in this lobster bisque like sauce. Their linguine is spot-on. I do love their oysters on the half shell - they source excellent raw oysters here. But I do think the staff needs to practice shucking raw oysters more. 4 out of 12 raw oysters in my plate have small shells in them. Tip #1: Their salad has smaller portions available even though it's not listed on the menu. Their regular size is really large (definitely shareable size). I have their Caesar salad. It says it's traditional with a hint of lemon but I don't taste much of the anchovies... the lettuce was crisp and I definitely had my healthy fiber intake for the day (or two) after finishing the large salad. ha! Would I come back again next time? Hmm, I think this is a nice addition to Golden Nugget for sure. The bar setup is lovely. But at the same time, this is a small place so it's not really good for a large group. I would say group size larger than 4 would be a stretch. Coming from bay area, $38 for a dozen of raw oysters seems to be a reasonable price. But I don't see myself coming back to this place just for dining here. However, I do see myself coming back if I were a hotel guest at Golden Nugget and want some good quality shellfish and a drink while having fun at the casino :) read more

I order the house boil with shrimp, crab clusters, mussels, clams, potatoes and onions. Taking this up to the room was my mistake. I had to get creative with opening the crab as I didn't have access to crackers. (hydro flasks work great)The seafood tasted fresh and the broth was spicy on the back end. The boil had no other taste or seasoning. The potatoes just tasted boiled. No salt, no pepper, nothing. Would it have been different if I was at the bar? Probably but you can only fix a dish so much with salt and pepper. I knew not to expect a southern fish boil but there needs to be more flavoring. Don't wait for your guests to fix the dish. The taste was on point and there was a generous amount of fresh shrimp, crab legs, and clams. This works out since it would be easy to get the server's attention if you needed anything. I ordered the Bouillabaisse (seafood soup) and it comes with a variety of seafood. It comes in a huge bowl and is enough to feed a family of four. It is topped generously with Parmesan cheese slices and croutons with flavorful Caesar dressing. You have the option to add crab or shrimp and they give you a large portion. They create large bowls of seafood in stock with wine or beer that include shrimp, crab, corn, sausage, clams, muscles, etc - think pan roast, gumbo, bouillabaisse, ciappino, etc. They also offer pasta and of course, raw oysters!
