Phenomenal sushi and service. Not sure why it took us so long to finally try this place. Will be making this one of our regular night out spots.

Food and service were great! There were four of us but we asked whether we can be seated if there were tables for two. The host was accommodating and we were able to get seated at two separate tables before the end of happy hour. So we enjoyed a sake and wakame salad from the happy hour menu. The combination tempura had a light batter and was delicious. My favorite rainbow sushi was well made, with just the right amount of rice. I like that they give more of the crab filling than overloading it with rice. This is now my favorite sushi place to go when I visit South Lake Tahoe. I'll be back for sure.

Fantastic place for sushi with excellent service! First off if there is a wait they ask if you'd like a drink while you're waiting. I don't know about you, but if I can have a beer and/or some sake while I'm waiting to be seated that wait gets INFINITELY better! Second, every person you interact with here is super friendly and has a smile on their face. If you're lucky enough to get Aimee as a server you're in for a fantastic evening! Her recommendations on drinks, rolls, desserts (and honestly ANYTHING) are stellar; I wasn't disappointed with a single recommendation. Which brings us to... Third, the food here is phenomenal! I had the sashimi platter and the cuts of fish were thick, fresh, and delicious. Aimee recommended the Roll Called Wanda and it was bright and savory; a delicious roll! I also had the High Roller roll and it might honestly be my new favorite sushi roll (I love scallops)! Do you like: fresh, delicious sushi? Warm and friendly service? Excellent selection of food and drinks? Great prices and happy hour? If you answered 'yes' to even one of those questions do yourself a favor and give this place a try. If you answered 'yes' to more than one of those questions you'll thank ME for the recommendation and all I have to say is: you're welcome (and tell them Kyle Jacobs sent you)!

tldr; Good service and excellent food. Parking plaza was decent. I arrived at about 8pm on a Saturday night, driving over from Stateline, NV. I wanted to try out a different Sushi place in Tahoe, and this place looked promising. The restaurant is first in a small shopping plaza, with a decent amount of parking present. i was able to find a spot, but I do think during peak hours parking might be somewhat of a problem. I was seated reasonably quickly at the Sushi bar, and a waiter came by reasonably quickly to attend to me. Otherwise, there was a decent amount of table seating available as well, but I don't think there were more than 5-6 tables. The waiter recommended the Shrimp Dynamite ($16) as a starter, which I took up along with the Sashimi Combo ($40) - but without the rice. Shrimp Dynamite - 5/5: This was excellent! They were perfectly breaded with a thin layer, with a delicious crunchy skin and some light spices. The prawns were fresh, and I had no trouble finishing this appetizer. Sashimi Combo - 5/5: Also excellent! Everything is fresh as you'd expect from sashimi, but I also appreciated the focus on the sashimi over the usual extras like shredded tapioca (which I like, but is mostly optional garnishing. I left really satisfied, and definitely looking forward to another visit in the future!

This place is always a Lake Tahoe go-to. Their ingredients and flavor profiles are "off the hook"! The service is always excellent and they never leave you wanting for anything. The servers divide and conquer and stop by often; even when the restaurant is super busy to check on you. On a side note, we have family from coastal California in several areas that all claim they can't get sushi this good back home; and when in Tahoe, it's a must stop! From my experience and many travel days per year spent eating out, I can agree, they're absolutely correct! The place is not tiny but not huge either. This restaurant offers a very comfortable and nicely lit dining area; the room acoustics are decent too making it easy to communicate with friends & family. We regularly drive 45 minutes one way to eat here. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself near South Tahoe!

My first time here, my brother suggested a happy hour dinner I'll cut to the chase, WoW, everything was really delicious, service was outstanding. Here is what we enjoyed tonight, the starters were great Shrimp was dynamite, Gyozas with pork, Edamame, bbq Kalbi thin sliced short ribs Rolls, Slammin' Salmon, Crunchy Granola, the Joker, Caterpillar. Our Value for the money was high in my opinion. There are Sushi places throughout town this has been my favorite. Thank you, Foodguy-martin

The doors opened at 4:30 and by 5:10 there was already a wait! We sampled a bit of everything off the happy hour menu (served from 4:30 - 6:00) and also enjoyed items from the regular menu as well. Our server was attentive and each bite as delicious as we remembered. This place is a must try while in South Lake Tahoe.

Server was very nice especially for how busy she was. Nice saki list in very helpful description. Good came out rocket fast. Problem was this sushi is not made to order. It's easily made 2-3 hours before and just played when ordered. You can taste the dryness of the sushi like it's been sitting for a while. Maybe next time skip the sushi and try something else

Ask the Community - Off The Hook Sushi

Do you do all you can eat?

We don't, no. Just happy hour 4:30-6 Monday Thursday and Friday.

Do you have any rice less sushi rolls?

You can request “light rice” but we don’t have rolls that come standard that way.

    Does happy hour still exist?

Yes! Weekdays from 4:30 to 6. We’re currently dark Tuesdays and Wednesdays… so for now just Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays for happy hour!

Are the Miso soup and the vegetable udon vegetarian? Or do they have fish sauce or broth in them?

Both bases do contain bonito fish flakes for flavor.

Do they have gluten free options?

Yes they do! I think it is an ok menu

Would you be able to accommodate a party of 20?

    They sure can!

Do you still have The Hamachi Kama on the menu?

It’s usually on the specials board nightly, but can sell out since there’s only one collar per fish! You’re welcome to call and check before you come in!

This is bespoke Japanese with a modern twist and it absolutely delivers on that promise. We are talking caviar, thoughtfully composed dishes, and the kind of attention to detail you'd expect from a serious city restaurant. The fact that it exists in Tahoe at all is kind of wild and I am so here for it. The space is incredibly intimate, which honestly adds to the whole experience because everything feels very intentional and personal. That said, you absolutely need to snag a reservation early because this place is tiny and I imagine it fills up fast and for good reason. Yes, the per person cost can get up there, but for what you're getting in terms of experience and execution, it genuinely feels worth it. If you're heading up to Tahoe and you want to treat yourself to something really special, this is the move. Do it at least once and you will not regret it!

We were seated immediately on a Sunday at 6 pm. The restaurant was clean and has both indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered a house salad, sashimi and two rolls. Our meal also came with miso soup. The miso soup had a fair taste and was very light on the tofu, green onions and greens. The salad dressing also had a fair taste - nothing extraordinary. We ordered the nine piece sashimi. The salmon was fresh and tasty. The tuna was also fresh and tasty, but it had a green sauce on top that we both did not care for. The Hamachi was ice cold and tasteless. The best roll was a baked roll with crab and avocado and lobster on top. It was absolutely delicious. The Carnation roll was crab and avocado wrapped in tuna and salmon with tobiko and a tempura scallop on top of each cut roll. The roll itself was average, but the warm tempura scallop on top was delicious! The sauce was a spicy mayo and Unagi sauce. We did like the fact the rice was rolled thinner on the rolls. The menu had a great variety of appetizers, sashimi, sushi rolls, and specialty rolls. There were also Korean dishes that looked yummy. We may come back to try other items on the menu, but the sushi was hit and miss. If we could, we would give this restaurant a 3.5 star rating.
